I tore apart one of the coils that came with my GS Air M clones from fasttech yesterday. They just don't taste good. This is the wrap that was in there.
DSCF0099.jpg

It looks like tissue paper and it was wrapped about 6 times.

I was planning to try to rebuild it but the slots were too small to fit my 2mm mandrel. I didn't feel like searching for a drill bit the right size so I gave up on that idea.

Today I tried rebuilding an authentic one using the 300 mesh for the first time. I think it was successful. The 2mm mandrel fits perfectly. The ohms read 1.75so it's a bit higher than I wanted.

It seems to vape well and the taste is great. Time will tell if it floods or leaks.

Hi @StarreLabelle !!! Fancy meeting you here, friend!
Several members of this thread rebuild their coils, and even like them better than the stock 1.5 coils. I have everything needed to rebuild, but I have not tried it yet. There is a link in @Cheechako 's avi to his blog with videos on rebuilding.
I will give it a try as soon as my current coil stock runs out. :D
Until you are ready to give it a try, just save all your old coils. Sweet Vapes and Rocky Mountain Vapor often have coupon codes and are good places to pick up coils, when you need them. (Rocky Mountain has a permanent 25% off discount code "president" and they ship anything over $14 free.)
Happy to see you here, my juice junkie friend!
You're such a sweetheart!!! Thanks for the info, my friend. We may have to rebuild soon, but until then am trying to stock up. That Rocky Mountain is a great code.;):smokie:

    :shock::evil::shock:
I'ma gonna try a litre of 12mg of this based on your experience. Price is right. Also been looking at these here gs tanks of late. I read enuf here lately and am I correct in assuming that the Factory coils are not good? Or just not preferred? Ty

Well, I will say that the stock coils are okay, but after rebuilding it into a single coil, It's like night and day. In my opinion, the rebuilt ones with rayon wick are the way to go. :)

I made another attempt at recoiling the clone coil.

I couldn't find a drill bit that would fit well in the slots. I did have some finish nails that fit but they were only about 1.8mm. I remembered that some people build oval coils. I cut the heads off 2 of the nails and superglued them together. I wrapped 6 wraps of 28g. I torched it and compressed with tweezers. It came out to 1.15 ohms. So far it's working.

There's plenty of vertical space for the oval coil and it makes wicking with Ko Gen Do easier. I might do all my recoils of the GS coils this way.

like they say: taste is subjective

but I'm betting you will find the Heartland NIC to be very pleasing
good juice starts with good base and I enjoy it straight unflavored...

hope to hear how it turns out for ya...
