I was trying to find some small amounts of Cellucotton last week using Google. Ebay has 5', 10', 24' etc but they want $5-$10 for it after shipping. You never know, for sure, what you're getting on Ebay either. So I Googled Sally's Beauty and it turns out we have one in my town.
I stopped in today, somewhat reluctantly. I asked the lady there if they had Cellucotton. She asked "For perms?" I said "I guess that's what it's used for". She was very nice and showed me a small package that said Cellucotton on it but the small print said "Pure Cotton". I told her that I wanted Rayon not cotton. Just then I saw boxes that said Cellucotton. Sure enough, the right stuff. I bought the smaller of the two boxes. She said, "That should last awhile". I said "About a hundred years". I didn't tell her what it was for and she didn't ask.
I got to my car and looked at the box. Holy Cow, there's 500' in there. I thought it was the 40' box. Oh well, it was only $15.
Now I need to rebuild some coils to try it.
Anyone want some? Let me know and I'll send you as much as I can pack into a Ziplock sandwich bag and a business sized envelope. I figure somewhere between 5 and 10 feet.

Out of principle I got the 3lb box. It's twice the size and only $3 more.

That's what I am guessing. Amazon lists their shipping weights as 1.7 and 3.2 lbs. So maybe 900-950 ft.
Another common use for the rayon "rope" is to lay it against the silicon or grouted joints in your bathtub or shower and pour bleach on it to kill mold.
The rayon holds the bleach against the joint allowing the bleach to work it's magic...if you have mold to get rid of that is.
