ya know, after reading my last post, I could’ve been more clear
disclosure: I don’t like vertical coils

converting a V coil to a H coil
and no holes in side of GS body (slots instead)
using a tie-wrap to slip into the slots of the coil body
will deal with positioning problems of the coil location
and then allowing over stuffed proportions of cotton/rayon

Alan Rickman (1946-2016), he played some enjoyable parts...

I've got a tiny cable tie that is just the right size for positioning the coil, but I doubt I could use it to wind an oval coil on it! I'll probably have to go with just a 2 or 2.5mm round coil instead!

it was pretty easy when I did it
after wrapping, the wire was difficult to remove...
so I just wiped the tie-wrap off with a piece of 320 emery cloth (all better)

just wrap coil, slide it off then stick it in body, then thread the tie wrap thru slot and wire :D

that's what I was thinking...

a small 'round' coil doesn't take up enuff room to fill the 'slot'
enter the oval coil, to fill all the gaps (we are talking horizontal coil, right)

;)

so if you’re having hand dexterity troubles (as do I)

    modern technology to the rescue,
channel locks (tounge-n-groove pliers) make you a tuff-guy (gal)

one thing about e-cigs, they are cheap soft material so NO NEED to
buy expensive tools to work on them…

go buy a “set” of pliers - tounge-n-groove pliers can be used as
a hand held vise - - two sets and you can do most anything...

add some needle nose, a desk vise, etc…
I also rely on some good sets of tweezers (big help plus)

these are not ONLY good for e-cig work, but much more in life...

might just be worth the investment for overall happiness
might take some training to get familiar with using, but what doesn't :D

    good luck !

    whoa ! - then you KNOW, you need to get your own ;

'cause ya NEVER mess with a mans' tools...

ask him to get you a cheap set of various pliers
    or you'll use his stuff...

My other problem with oval coils is Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators doesn't give me a way to calculate the final resistance ahead of time, so I'd be going by guess and by gosh! I'll have to build at least one horizontal oval coil, just to see the difference, but that 0.4 ohm vertical Ti is vaping really nice! With the restrictions in both the bottom positive pin and the manhole top hole, you aren't going to lung hit this coil anyhow! The 2mm vertical coil fit right in with the rest of the design!

OK! Oval coil in 30Ga. Tempered Nickel 0.15 Ohms in Temp. Control in the GS tank! Vapes great, After I did it, I was worried I cut the Cotton to flush with the coil, figured it would leak and gurgle, nope vapes great, though next time I will leave it a little long and fluff it out! Now the problem is marking the coils so I know which ones have Ti and which have Ni! I guess on second thought, just look at the ohms, if around .15 Nickel, if .2 or higher Ti.

I have yet to try out the ni coils I received with the GS-Tank. I'm not sure where to begin with them. Maybe I'll try out one this weekend. What's a good temp to start out? (Or do you even set it with temp?) Sorry I haven't paid any attention to any of the past posts on TC because I wasn't really interested in it.:)

    hey now, Very cool...

reason I mentioned it (oval) was because of my dislike for Vertical coils
I just started, learned, grew up horizontal and prefer the design (that's just me)

glad to hear you have good luck with your "V" coil builds, if that's working for ya I'd keep at it...

would also like to see pics :)

what device ya powering with ?

as ALWAYS, start low - work your way UP

    say maybe 35w & 300°
    run the temp up 300° , 380° , 425° , 550° etc
    THEN
    increase watts, say maybe 46w
    run the temp up 300° , 380° , 425° , 550° etc

    all just a hit-n-miss trail

    that's what I DID to find my 'sweet' spot (42w / 420°)

    Good Luck
    :D

Just to interject a little here...I did not like the Ni coil in the GS tank at all!! The GS tanks do not have enough airflow for me with the TC coils. For anything TC, I use my STM's. Sorry!

that's for your style of vaping, lynn ;) we have no idea if imrs will experience the same!

but i know granny is definitely in your camp when it comes to ni and gs tanks!
