not sure what to be looking out for, but just boiled my used CS and GS coils for 10 minutes to clean them.. the wicking is still fibrous and cotton-like, able to fluff out of the holes. no crumbling.
Just tore one down. Coils are wrapped around silica. The outer portion of the coil head is wrapped with a material that looks like the outer part of the Delta. But the crumbly junk pbusardo found is not present on this coil. Will try to post a pic....but I gotta get out the door. I think we are safe. Very little chance of that outer material coming apart....but I can't say what it's made of. Might be fiberglass, but I can't imagine it coming apart. And none of that crumbly junk to be found.
Did you unwrap the wick all the way? No crumbly stuff?
It does not look like it lends itself to rebuilding as I have with Vivi Novas and Protanks,
of course I hope someone proves me wrong!
Not easy to get apart, and good chance of ruining the threads...
Thanks, Bored and Cheechako, for doing that. It makes me feel a lot better. I tried to take apart a coil the other day but couldn't figure out how without destroying it.
Incidentally, I was a bit interested in the relationship between Joyetech and iSmoka/eLeaf. Googling around led me to a page showing that iSmoka is a trademark taken out by Joyetech (Changzhou) Electronics Co., Ltd. So it looks to me like they are the very same company (or that iSmoka is a division of the company, maybe to use for their lower priced products).
Someone in another thread was mentioning the possibility of a mistranslation between fiber cotton and cotton fibers, which doesn't mean fiberglass. So I'd like to hear more before thinking that Joyetech is using the same thing Aspire was using. Did anyone actually tear a Delta II coil apart?
...At any rate there's no crumbly disintegrating junk in this coil, so we can all go back to being happy with this atty!
Damn, that's good news.
Thinking about it, aren't all the ceramic coils BVC style?
Thanks for update.
I had considered trying to cancel my order from yesterday, had already shipped.
The 'scare' did get me checking out RTA's. Good thing I guess.
Wanting a Kayfun V4 - the first that 'has it all' for me.
And will save a ton on coil costs.
While many stock coils can last weeks, I find I want the flavor wanting a new coil after just 2-3 days.
Have you considered the Lemo? Also made by Eleaf and widely popular among rebuilders.
Thanks for update.
