I had planned on doing the same. Didn't make it through the day since Evape got more tanks in stock. Lol. Had to order another and 3 more packs of coils.

The main thing is to not turn vaping into a hobby, as I did, if you want to save money. I enjoy it and use everything I have but I don't recommend it for anyone that is trying to save money. Cigarettes are $8.50 a pack here though and I used to smoke 3 packs a day so I could figure that I probably have saved money!

My wife for a while made snide comments about the ever growing vape paraphernalia on my bench. But I found this little phone app that shows some really neat info:
Quit date: June 1st 2014
Not smoked: 11286 cigs
Money saved: $2539.35
Vape Expenses: $1146.89 I went crazy and (also buy starter sets 10 at the time Kanger EVOD Megas to give to anyone and everyone willing to take one, all included in this figure)
Still left an extra $1392.46 in a little over 7 months which has led to a LOT more dinners out for her too!
Since I now no longer smell like an ashtray and am even allowed to vape anywhere in the house (she sez I smell like a renuzit air freshener now) and health is improving to the point even she notices, much less me being able to smell and taste again. And make it upstairs without being winded, she is now on board whole heartedly!

Ooooooooohhhh!!! Munchkins! So adorbs! I have 2 cats, one of which is a Bengal.

Ohh Bengal's are beautiful too! We have wondered if there is not some Savannah in him and one of his brothers that are almost twins. The mother is tortise calico and his other brother is a black smoke tabby. He was the only one of the litter that got legs :) And it appears he got all the leg the others are missing! :) But I can vouch for the personality of a munchkin it is totally awesum! I cycle all their pics as my avi's over time. Even the welsh corgi & maltese dogs once in a while too :) Add the rabbit, african clawed frogs, fish and tarantula and you could say I live in a zoo :)

just did this to 6 used GS coils- hot water in the tank, 3 second fires, blowing down the drip tip (paper towel at the air holes), repeat until they read 1.5ohm , shaking the tank every now and again.. and then boiled for 5 minutes. all reading back at 1.5ohms! blew the water out of one, primed with a little juice, stuck it in the eGrip and flavor is coming back quicker than I had thought!

brilliant!

for whatever reason, Joyetech coils respond so well to boiling. I'm using some type As that are 3 months old and still working great

Plain water? And it didn't leak?

But if you just want to use plain water, isn't it easier to just throw your coil heads in a glass bowl, cover with distilled water and nuke them for a few minutes? That's what I tried in the past, but never got very satisfying results. Water alone won't dissolve the coil gunk. It will clean the filler a little, but not the coil.

PG/VG and vodka are better solvents, in my experience.

A wet burn with water could work similarly to decarbing an engine. The rapid temperature change should cause the carbon deposits to flake off the hot surface of the coil. Water has much higher thermal conductivity than propylene glycol so you should get that rapid temperature change. I generally soak my coils in isopropyl alcohol for a little while before boiling them, though a dry burn combined with dripping cold water onto the coil when it is glowing would probably be a more effective tactic. The only aspect I would worry about is possibly causing the coil to break because the wire is so thin that it could be susceptible to the same rapid temperature change that causes the carbon to break off the surface. However, if the coil is being heated continuously it may be okay.

You guys wash your coils before you use them? Why?

I do not. I don't see a reason to clean a clean coil...... or to klean a klean koil. (Whew! That's better!)

I have no clue, other than my Silo Lite (which uses the same aspire BVC coils as the Vivi Nova) they are my favorite go-to tanks. I even prefer them over the Mini Nautilus.
I vape 80/20 pg/vg, and with rare exceptions I don't vape any dark/thick liquids. I stick mainly to light colored menthol/minty flavors, with an occasional fruit flavor. I usually get 10 days or so per each coil in the Vivi's. ( I don't know how many ml's, I don't keep track of fills, but I vape all day long, even at work, so I go through quite a bit in 10 days time)

On the subject of the GS Air trouble, I still have not had time to mess with them. I had to make an unfortunate trip to the vet today and say goodbye to one of our dogs (not the one in my avatar). He was my buddy for 11 years, so I'm a little bummed and don't feel like playing with vape gear right now...

Knowing {{{hugs}}}, Amy. :(

Good luck with the not buying stuff, I would like to hear if it is actually possible. :)

Nope, it is not. Uh uh.

Thanks, Ricky, you listed the three different places I stumbled up, too. After lurking on this thread for a while, I ordered one of these tanks and extra coils Saturday night from Sweet-Vapes. Seems like I saw a 10% off coupon floating around for VaporDNA, so maybe botibill actually got the best deal after all.

btw, I really do appreciate all the terrific input everyone has added here. Made it tough NOT to grab a GS Air.

Welcome (here) CH! You know what to put in that tank, eh? ;)

Turn that $ into a £ and that's the price of cigarettes in the UK. OUCH! :)

YEOWWWCH is right!

You go, mud! FANtastic!

A wet burn with distilled or deionized water could work similarly to decarbing an engine. The rapid temperature change should cause the carbon deposits to flake off the hot surface of the coil. I like this, spaceman. I've not heard this method before. The trade off of losing the coil altogether would not be terribly important if it in fact did come out semi-new.

Any alts to distilled or deinionized water?

I still think it difficult to clean these types of hidden coils. Give me a good ole 306 atty and I'll go to town on it. But these are mysterious!

If you're trying to decarb the coil you can use plain water. I use distilled water when boiling coils because juices and deposits will dissolve more effectively.

Edit: to clarify, the type of water is not important because the mechanism of action is temperature change causing the carbon deposit to flex and crack off the surface of the coil. I should edit my previous post. I would dry burn the coil a bit so that there isn't any caramelized juice left. This will most likely only work on hard carbon deposits.

Very interesting point.

That said, I'm pretty sure that that poor coil would pop very quickly, because, as you noted, the wire is very thin. Even regular, gentle dry burning stresses the coil and often leads to sudden death.

That's exactly what I was thinking - Snow Bengal. They are so beautiful with their white fur and blue eyes. Mine is a black/tan marbled boy.

AWW. I love the Tan Marbled Bengals....They are beautiful.

My parents kitty is a Marbled boy too. -- Marbled 'Seal Lynx' to be exact which comes from the Bengal outcrossed to the Siamese. He looks more like a Siamese with faint marbled markings down his spine, feet, face and tail.

My boy is... something else. Like no other cat that has ever owned me before. So vocal and LOUD about it. He is very devoted to me. Let's me get away with stuff that no other human can with him.

This is my dream cat. I contacted the owner to find out what breeder she got him from and it's all the way in the UK. The cat alone costs 900 bucks. That would be in addition to the fees of having it flown in to me. A girl can dream, right?

It's a lot easier than I thought. After looking at Cheechako's rebuild pictures, I decided to pull off the top of one of my old coils and try to clean it and dry burn it. I was really surprised at how easy it is to get that pressed on piece off the coil. I did what Cheechako did - I screwed the coil into an old T3S base and then just gently twisted it with needle nose pliers. It came off easily. Once it's off, it looks really similar to old coils you can clean and dry burn. So I boiled it in the microwave for a few minutes, dry burned it, and now it's vaping like new again.

The most difficult part (and it's not that difficult) is twisting that top off. But if you screw the coil into a base, it makes it a little easier to do.
