Good afternoon, AirHeads. Gotta question for whoever is interested in trying to answer. I received an order for some new GSA heads recently and my question is, how can I tell if I got the ones with the new cotton inside them? Those were supposed to be available recently, no?

Open 'em up, and ask them to join you for sushi.

If they bow.......

(sorry, LVM, I have no klue)

Short of (1) reading the barcode, which says, in interleaved 2 of 5, that Wm. Shakespeare was just a pseudonym for Francis Bacon, a.k.a., Frank Sinatra, or (2), taking an unused old coil and a similar newly arrived coil apart and checking for chipmunk fur... you might try a taste test. Take an old batch unused coil, and install in a tank, cleaned and refilled with a favorite juice. Do the same with one of the recently arrived coils. Same model tank, same juice. Vape.
You will either discover that they taste different, or that they taste the same.
If they taste the same, this will be because they have the same wick and liner material, or because cotton, just like alligator tail, rabbit, and so many other things, "taste like chicken".

In short, I dunno. :D

The better answer,,, OH yeah.

So lovelies, any idea where I might turn for a bit of some tech support on a (don't hate me)...... Nauti tank?

Sorry can't help with the "naughty tank" but I did want to say I've been admiring your awesome sense of style. I've seen pictures here and there of your very girly get-ups and you've inspired me. I ordered a couple of jwraps this weekend and this could be the start of something wonderous or wonderfully aweful! :w00t:

Welp, aren't you sweet, Chemtx! My set ups are a bit bizarre sometimes (at least for most peeps), but I enjoy adding a bit of the ole bling to them. I very much appreciate what you said, and will look forward to seeing your wraps and creatives!

Option thurrreeeeee: screw the Air base into a 510 to 510 extender, which unless it's stainless, will be as soft as the Air base. I do this with all my sundry GS tanks, and see no sign of base degradation.
Need to check out a low profile base like you are talking about...suggestions?

I dunno Cheech, Right now I have 10 tanks in rotation 8 of which are airs. I like to switch out flavors a lot but I don't vape while at work. Only one of my airs has gone soft on me and doesn't like the Istick anymore. I switched it over to the CF4 to try and get more life out of it and that seems to work for the time being. This particular tank is my travel flavor; so I'm guessing I use it more than the others. I've about decided to either switch out the base with a newer tank or travel with the cool fire. Is that lazy or what? Certainly be nice if the eleaf folks sold replacement parts for these little gems. I've only started using the GSAirs since the M and MS came out and seems pretty quick to strip the thread doesn't it? Anywho, I will restock my tank supply with any 4th of July sales (crossing my fingers there will be some) and rotate out the gimpy tanks as they wear down. I don't think I will want to replace them all at once.

On a side note I bought a Innokin Isub tank to try out; curiosity killed the cat and all. Not sure I'm liking it all that much. After the initial nicotine rush, I had to stop vaping for a bit. Definitely would need lower than 6 nic for that sucker.
I vape only two flavors at the most...a bit stodgy I know. Try to rotate them a bit when I clean them.

I have a conumdrum possibly the logic here can solve...
The Air tanks have the weakness of their threads being softer than the threads on the istick.
I notice I get black gunk build up on the threads of the tank and they get looser over time
telling me they are wearing down.
Which is the better option?
Rotate through my stock of tanks wearing them all evenly until failure all the way around?
Use one or two tanks exclusively until they wear out?
What is the Air head consensus on this?

Didn't someone post a link for replacement bases earlier in the thread? I think they were $3.

Tibs mentioned HC... Not sure how expensive their shipping is. :)

Metal Base for iSmoka Eleaf GS Air Atomizer

she sure did :D

hc does offer airmail and the last time i checked for somebody the shipping for 10 bases came to about 6 bucks or so ;)

so, just about $3.00 per base shipped but at that time tanks were being offered across the hall and it made better sense for that person not to get the bases.

Good Morning Air Heads!

Sorry I didn't post earlier, I was dealing with both of my parents this weekend who are in their 80's and life sort of gets in the way sometimes. (Hospital for emergency digestive tract surgery on one and shortness of breath with a fall for the other.) Being an only child can be rather overwhelming sometimes.
:glug:

Good News Part:
This morning I mailed off the GS Air-M and coil pack to it's new forever home. The turtles were all lined up at the Post Office with there little buggies behind them when I left, so it might take a couple of weeks to arrive.

Note to self for future... If it is not a Genny (I just love Genny's) or doesn't have a Kayfun, Orchid or Rose build deck then look again to see if the words Coil Head is in the description any where. If so, do not seek out such device, do not click add to cart... Just smile and wave, have another vape on the Rose and enjoy the device vicariously through those who love and use them. :)

I am just awaiting delivery of a second Rose V2 from a most excellent Hellboy & Marquis user!
I do love me the vape provided by the Rose. :vapor:

Extra C-Cups are on their way from Fasttech as well for them, so life is grand! As I will not be visiting this thread very often I'd like to leave one of my favorite Dropkick Murphys video's here for your listening pleasure. I'll see you all in the other threads!!

Enjoy!

Well, one coil rebuild done though there were plot complications. It ain't pretty but I think it'll work.

Cheech, what is the brand of gauze you use and which Dollar store do you get it at? That was an issue for me, I had one pad of Assured brand. It just says gauze pad, not non woven guaze though. It made the wrap difficulter. There is an inner and outer layer of this pad of gauze them something in the middle. The gauze is so loosely weaved it falls apart if you breathe on it. Cheech, your gauze didn't have anything in the middle and it looked much stouter. I got it all back together and the soaker slits are all covered, I gather that's what's important with the wrap.

While I'd read I can use the Evod bases to Work with the GS coil to hold it, and I Did read you couldn't Ohms test it that way, it didn't sink in until I got a 0 ohm reading (testing on an Evod base) on my first perfectly good coil, Destroyed it taking it back apart, THEN it dawned on me. Grrr. Had to take one of my two full of juice MS apart to test the coil. It also read a little higher than I'd like but this is my first wrap with 30 Kanthal and I was a couple wraps high on the wrap number. Oh Well. (Per a reco to me I used 7 wraps of 30 on a 1/16" drill and ended up with about a 2.6 coil. It should still work though I guess.) This coil was a factory coil so I took out the dual coils, I wasn't about to try and rewick those.

I tried to use a meter to check the coil touching the center of the pin and the threads and the reading was too bogus to be right. Having to take apart one of my always in use two MS to check the Ohms on a rebuild is gonna be a PIA. I probably should get one of those coil meters. Where is the best, cheapest one?

I'll post back once I actually used this coil. I'm not trying the 2nd rebuild until I get better gauze.

There is a picture of the Gauze box I bought on my blog...don't remember what dollar store I bought it at, sorry!
If you would like, I would be happy to send some gauze to you. the gauze is a pain, but it shouldn't fall apart like that!
Yes, your coils will still work, a little high, but it should still vape fine!
I think I bought my ohms reader through Amazon...
I know it's not much consolation, but, it does get easier and the results are worth it!
Believe me, I looked like a monkey with a hammer trying to rebuild my first Air!
Keep at it my friend!
