Thanks!

I have a silver pico full kit waiting in my cart at RMV and wanted to know which set of coils to use in the Milo III. Of course those coils in that 1st link are OOS. I'll check with another vendor.

Triton, Atlantis, Eleaf EC, and Vaporesso Ccell coils will all work in Melo tanks, including the Melo 3 Mini. I'm using 0.9 ohm ccells in mine. The juice flow slots machined into the little tank could stand to be a bit larger to better expose all the openings in the coil, but so far, so good.

I will again add, that mine did not get hot when charged on usb...
first 25% of charge or so, it got slightly warm, but not enough to cause concern, then cooled off after to room temp.

Maybe some pico owners should all test this out, and see if excessive heat during charging is a common thing, 50/50 shot....etc...

Only the lazy and/or unprepared need to even consider using it as a passthrough. ;)

Just out of curiosity, what wattage/s was the Pico set to when it got uncomfortably hot?

Wow! Granted I already said I was being lazy.... I'm OK with being lazy but maybe this time I should've said tired. I take care of my mother & there aren't enough hours in a day so having a spare battery at the ready wasn't on the top of my priority list. :sneaky:

20W. This is the 1st time I ever put it on a charger.

Am I going to be a pooper by telling Debik she already has enough mods?

I'm waiting for eleaf or somebody to come out with a tube mod that's the size of the 18650, with the same height as the pico, but with vw/vv. Basically a mech with a screen. That's the mod I've wanted since the beginning.
There's no such thing as enough mods. The vapocalypse is real!!![emoji38]

I think I came across as harsher than I meant to. Sorry about that. I was just kiddin. Typed words can't convey tone or inflection. Regardless of the reason for using it as a passthrough, no device should be too hot to hold/use when doing so.

Anyway, 20W.. seems weird that it would heat up like that, especially at a lower power setting. I'll have to test mine.

I plugged mine in, let it sit for a few, and took 5 large DL hits off mine at 35W on a coil reading 0.96 ohm, (so 5.8V), and the mod is maybe a few degrees above room temperature, about what you'd expect just from being held in your hand. The tank got warmer than anything else, but nowhere near hot.

The other problem I've heard people mention with Picos is the "weak battery" msg popping up when firing with the battery meter reading <50%, requiring a second press to actually fire the mod. I've taken my batt down to ~20%, and never had that happen. So, I dunno. I'll try it at higher power settings and check the voltage reading next time.

I've not vaped it down to weak battery message. Just so happens that since the Pico is what I've been using since it arrived, it's on my person when I'm running throughout the house. Upstairs I grab a fresh battery, put the other on the charger & keep it moving.

I don't know if the hotness was a one-time thing. It's back on the charger but this time it's just warm. Before the mod & tank were hot enough to put back down.

Yeah, but...
The Silver one in that pic looks way darker than the two posted earlier in the thread. I know @LynnNC posted one of the pics. I'd get silver in a heartbeat if it were that dark

Yes, depending on light, the silver one can be a bright little fella. :)

Ok, I can see now I wont be charging & vaping at the same time. This lil Pico gets HOT!

Someone else posted the same thing & up til now I just replaced the battery when I needed to.

Being lazy & not feeling like going upstairs for a battery, I popped it on the charger then picked it up a few min later & immediately put it back down. The level of heat really surprised me.

Going back to swapping batteries.

What battery are you using? What charger? What watts do you fire at? All the various mods I've used have onboard charging and none of them get hot when charging. I don't think they even get warm. Is anyone else noticing their Pico getting hot while charging?

One other person said several pages back that their Pico got hot.
Battery- purple Efest
Watts- 20
Charger- Samsung

As I said already, I hope this was a one-time thing. It's back on the same charger, with the same battery & it didn't get hot like that again.

That's sad for the next generation that most of the premade coils these days are based off of the "Aspire" style, which can't be rebuilt easily. I saved a ton of money rebuilding my Kanger Protank coils after the first month. With my sweet, dark juices, a coil would only last me 2.5 days tops.

Rebuilding the Kanger coils was a great introduction that made getting into RBA's much easier. But e-cig companies probably work the same way as printer companies do. Sell you the printer at a lower profit margin, and gouge you with the exorbitant cost of the ink cartridges. Gotta make that recurring revenue somehow I guess.

I used all my iSticks on bypass all the time. Sometimes they get kinda warm, but it's not like I had a choice before. Can't take the battery out, and what am I gonna do? Not vape for 3-4 hours?

I hear ya - I have been known to pop other mods on USB charger in a pinch..... I'll try my Pico out as well. I have some Efest batteries, but typically use LGs or Sammy R25s these days.

Will let y'all know what I find.

Pics cause it happened. I got the full kit, but I am using a Goblin Nano (clone). Compared to an VTC mini and K-box mini with STMs (bellcapped). Love the tiny-ness!

I dunno why iSticks get a bad rep. The original was flawed, but was a pioneer in the industry. The 50w was a failure though, so I understand if you had one of those.

I forgot to check out the EVIC VTC Mini before jumping back into the iStick family. Do you have any pics of the Pico and the VTC Mini from the side? Happen to have an iStick 20w, 30w, or 40w you can stick next to it?

I'm pretty happy with my iStick, but I'd like to get some info on the VTC Mini since it's hard to picture gauge it's size unless it's next to an iStick.

I've stuck to my iSticks because everyone else's box mods are noticeably bigger. The VTC Mini looks like it gets close to the iStick 20w/30w/40w size.

Have never had a Triton or Atlantis tank...

If I get the KIT (with the Melo 3 Mini)...as a confirmed MTL Tootle Puffer...which coil would be more preferable to try first???

Also...can one MTL the 0.9Ω Vaporesso Ccell in the M3M???

The other problem I've heard people mention with Picos is the "weak battery" msg popping up when firing with the battery meter reading <50%, requiring a second press to actually fire the mod.

Seems like "weak-battery msg with reading <50% => 2X Fire Button pushes"...could be a hassle (to me).

Is that the way it's supposed to work???

From the bottom, Pico is a bit bigger
This is my first iStick, so I don't have any to compare it to.

Thanks Debik. I was also looking at the ipv d2 until I saw that it had a proprietary charging cable. That would have been a deal breaker for me. The VTC Mini looks like a solid device. I read the comments on a youtube video that the magnetic side cover comes off easily. That would probably annoy the crap outta me since I don't need the battery to be accessible at all. It's got a nice looking screen, but the interface would take some getting used to.

While doing some googling, I did find out why iSticks get a bad rap. The iStick 50w istick was a colossal failure. I had heard stories about them auto-firing, and even heard a rumor about one starting a fire, but the catching on fire happened to more than one person. That's pretty scary, and part of the reason why I don't like handling batteries.

I hope Eleaf has long put that problem behind them at this point. The 40w came out after the 50w, and mine was fine. We've got a lot of guinea pigs in this thread though, so please report any issues.
