The biggest problem that I see with e-cig or electronic cigarette is the word CIGARETTE. With the way society is today we need to get away from the word cigarette and start calling these devices what they really are, Personal Vaporizers (PV).These devices do not put off second hand smoke, they don't release carbon monoxide and they don't poison your body or others with 4,000 other chemicals that analogs do.

If we ever want to disassociate these devices with analogs then we need to start calling them what they truly are.

A little story here, I walked in to a small local tavern night before last and sat at the bar. When my drink came I pulled out my Provari and started to vape. The owner came over and told me smoking was not allowed by law and that also included e-cigs. I showed him my Provari and said that it was niether, that it was a personal vaporizer. He looked at it shrugged his shoulders and told me as far as he is concerned I wasn't breaking any laws and let me continue. Many other came and asked about it so hopefully I have helped convert a few others.

In one way it's a good thing to refer them as cigarette's, since it makes smokers aware of the alternative when they stumble across them. We must remember that vaporizers do contain nicotine and are generally designed to be an alternative to cigarettes.

But I would prefer them to be called something else, such as Vaporette and Vaporizer.

Perhaps this website could do with a name change.

It would never be a good idea to call them cigarettes. The reason the governmants are starting to ban them and clump them in with analogs is because of the word cigarette. Analogs have so many restrictions on them because of the second hand smoke not the nicotine. PV's don't have second hand smoke and most government agencies are ignorant to the fact.

Good attitude. You planted the seed. I'm sure they will listen eventually. Hopefully before they need an oxygen tank :)

The problem is when it comes to the question of legality it is what they are manufactured and sold as that will matter.

If e-cigs really were included in the law and you were caught that bar owner would've been held responsible as well.

Now if it was just his rule as the property owner that would be different.

Think about it if you are caught smoking someplace you shouldn't be do you think saying its not a cigarette its a coffin nail or a cowboy killer would get you out of the ticket?

I don't think one person should be dictating what "we" should be doing. A lot of stuff that goes on by vapers (like attention seeking, aggression, and attitude to smokers who don't want to try it) means some vapers don't wish to be referred to as "we".

This is not accusing you of those things, OP, just saying I do what works for me, not what "we" should do. (yes, I've had a crap day and read too many threads on the boards lately)

I agree as well Cigarette in the name is not doing us any favours I like 'ricks' name the vapor stick! Or maybe we could call it a nic stick :D

I like the word or abbreviation of nicotine in the name. It shows that we are being honest about what vaping is about. My favorte so far is what was labeled on the box containing my Tornado-T from TW.

"Recreational Nicotine Inhaler." Funny but true :)
