To the staff, and visiting NSAB staff members of the WWII housing:

Some studies have suggested that the 2nd and 3rd hand vapor from e-cigs can be
harmful.

It seems doubtful that the lungs would extract 100% of the nicotine from the
vapor created by electronic cigarettes and nicotine vaporizers. Until there is
proof positive that there is no residual nicotine in the exhaled vapors, I
prefer not to breathe it.

Therefore, I am requesting that the staff no longer use e-cigs or electronic
nicotine vaporizers inside building 62, and most especially - not in the
office, the elevators, or at the front desk.

I fully support the use of e-cigs during your break outside the building.

Attached is some research on the subject which can be found at:

Cool. Wasn't being a hard guy but only giving you a heads up before Mods see this. Gave the same heads up for someone else yesterday and they did nothing...Mods deleted the thread.

I am not entirely sure how anything can be "proven" safe with "proof positive". I can cite examples of water poisoning from drinking too much water.

That said, if it is her office, it is her rules. I vape in my office, but not in common areas of THE office where I work. I have the owner's permission. Even with that, I do not vape when I have a guest or subordinate in my office, unless it is someone who is comfortable with it. I never vape when I have a client in my office, car, etc. (except my clients who are also friends, which is a few). I don't want the owner to regret his kindness. If you have no permission from the owner/manager, no vaping.

I do note her statement later on:

and most especially - not in the office, the elevators, or at the front desk.

This may indicate that if you approach her respectfully and ask for a private area for you to vape, she may be willing to negotiate that. If you have a private office, this would seem a reasonable compromise. In the end, it is her decision, and she has to do what she believes is best for all of the employees in the office. I hope you can work something out with her. If you need reference materials, visit CASAA, there is a wealth of information there!

Can someone explain 3rd hand vapor to me? I'm confused on how friendly someone has to be to get 3rd hand vapor?

I will demonstrate, if Katheryn Winnick will allow me to film the demonstration!

I agree with her because she's looking out for her company and her clients. I'm a manager in retail and I would never vape around customers. Our smoking policy is that you have to be outside and so many feet from the doors, it's like 20 feet, I think. That being said, I have vaped inside the store, away from cameras, late at night when there aren't any customers in the store. :p
