To the staff, and visiting NSAB staff members of the WWII housing:

Some studies have suggested that the 2nd and 3rd hand vapor from e-cigs can be
harmful.

It seems doubtful that the lungs would extract 100% of the nicotine from the
vapor created by electronic cigarettes and nicotine vaporizers. Until there is
proof positive that there is no residual nicotine in the exhaled vapors, I
prefer not to breathe it.

Therefore, I am requesting that the staff no longer use e-cigs or electronic
nicotine vaporizers inside building 62, and most especially - not in the
office, the elevators, or at the front desk.

I fully support the use of e-cigs during your break outside the building.

Attached is some research on the subject which can be found at:

Discovery Health "10 Little-known Facts About E-cigarettes"

Like ......... ill blow vapor in her face!!

Not sure about whether your manager can do that. Best thing for you and your co workers to do is make it a union issue, and try to speak to the owners of the company. She is only the manager, Does she manage the building, probably not, just the employees. It's not really her call to make. Does anyone else have a problem with you vaping in the building. If the owners never told her to make this decision then she has no right imposing the rule.

Maybe you don't even care and you're happy to do it outside. If it were me i'd do something about it. But that's just me.

I have to agree with her decision, Vapeing IMHO is a less dangerous alternative to smoking, and not intended to allow Vapeing anywhere we want to. Sorry just how I see it, her business etc......

I agree with most of what you said and I don't vape where I wouldn't smoke. That said, this is likely not her business, she is a manager. One would assume though that smoking is already prohibited inside the premises and that she has the backing of HR and the owner of the business regarding her vaping policy. Although this sounds like it may be a government building perhaps? If that's true, I'm shocked the OP was ever allowed to vape inside it.

Show her the ClearStream study demonstrating that there is 0 (ZERO) nicotine in second hand vapor.
This is a published study not some BS news article found in an obscure newspaper.

    http://clearstream.flavourart.it/site/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/CSA_Poster.pdf

Then you might inform her that the CDC has never found a single person that tested negative for nicotine in their system (called the background level when testing for nicotine). Nicotine is in our food chain, and we would starve to death before we tested negative for nicotine. (nicotine is a common substance found in plant life, just like carotene, etc, etc.)

I agree with her because she's looking out for her company and her clients. I'm a manager in retail and I would never vape around customers. Our smoking policy is that you have to be outside and so many feet from the doors, it's like 20 feet, I think. That being said, I have vaped inside the store, away from cameras, late at night when there aren't any customers in the store. :p

Stealth vaping at it's finest. Nice improvisation!

As to the later posts in the thread....

Even if she is "just the office manager", you are better off working with her than over her head. IF you were able to organize and overthrow her rule, do you think that might just complicate your working relationship with the manager? She gave consent to post her email, so she is not too hostile now. You blow her up on this, and she might really give you her attention....

    Just my perspective.

If you haven't already, please join CASAA and provide your manager with the scientific evidence and artcles by true professionals such as Dr. Michael Seigel and Bill Godshaw on the safety of vaping. You will find studies and good information at CASAA.

Everyone who vapes should be a member of CASAA. They are the only organization protecting us from the ignorant, misinformed and those who want to ban vaping nationwide.

Well its kind of weird to say, im military and shes a civilian. Yes shes my boss per say.... Everyone else doesnt care, and she never did either then one day last week I got that email. I vaped for months inside the building and she never said a word besides how good the vape smelled haha

Yeah, well it sounds like if you give her some information she might work with you. I think the manner in which you handle it will go a long way to resolving the issue. Good luck!

That explains everything. There was an article posted here a month+ ago (can't find the link) that said a large and powerful anti smoking org had joined forces with the Military with the intention of FULLY banning the use of the Ecig within the Military. We are beginning to see the results of that alliance IMHO. The post linked to an official statement by the Military and the anti smoking Org. I believe she's just following orders.
Now knowing the situation I also seriously doubt you have permission to post this email.

Make sure CASAA knows of this. If you give me the link I will get it to Kristin. She won't be scared to jump right in and set it right.

    CASAA!
