Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
Has anyone done this or are you planning to? I thought of it because SimplyRed is getting one as a gift and they are having it engraved for him. Your thoughts???
I don't see why not.

I don't plan on it, though.

If I were giving a shiny one as a gift, however, I would consider it.

Howdy y'all! As this is, supposed to be, a surprise gift...lol..., I was asked where to do the engraving. My first thought was on the side on the polished end cap as not to disfigure the red/black paint. Thoughts?

Hmm - I think with a Satin or Polished you'd engrave lengthwise along the body like the logo.
But with a cerakoted one, I might go for the end cap. Get 'em to curve the engraving...

Most places won't touch stainless. If you find one, he/she is not going to want to engrave on the curved barrel. End cap for sure.

I wore out several diamond tipped bits in a Foredom trying to engrave the end cap. I've decided to hold off on more engraving adventures until I get a Lucas Lowboy foot pedal and a Hammer #15 hand piece.

Lucas Lowboys ROCK!!

I used to do production hand engraving for a jewelry designer and we used a dremel engraver (no diamond burs, just the tip it comes with)...it worked better than hammer handpieces and much better than a rotary handpiece.

Almost everything was curved surfaces....

Better to look for a jewelry metal smith than an "engraving" shop.

Were you engraving on stainless steel?

Were you engraving on stainless steel?

Not for the jewelry, but we would engrave everything that wasn't nailed down...just because we could. We would write on our travel mugs, tools, scissors, you name it. I have engraved on stainless steel this way for a personal project so it is doable....it's not easy and takes practice...but it is doable.

Also, looking for someone who engraves guns or knives would be good too. They are used to working with the harder metals and they work by hand too. Engraving around a barrel shouldn't be a problem.

Otto Carter does amazing engraving, have you seen his work?

Yes!!! His work is beautiful! The motorcycles he does are amazing also.

I'm not into the mech mods that he usually does, but it is not impossible to picture myself with one just because...

More than once I've discussed with my boyfriend how cool it would be to see if we could order a "plain" ProVari and send it off to Otto to be engraved...

...in my dreams....in my dreams...

On the opposite side where the ProVari logo is...........for sure!

Edit: Oh, I was not thinking about ruining the paint. I suppose the engraver could tell you if it would or not.

How awesome would it be if ProVape made provisions to allow custom orders to accommodate such things prior to paint?

Once upon a time, I was a CNC programmer that specialized in engraving, so I know what's involved in the process. If the NC model was setup properly, this could be a VERY popular (and profitable) endeavor :D
