No, its my parents lake house where they retired to. It is kinda narrow at their house but just a few hundreds yards away it opens into a nice big lake. If you make a left there is miles of canals. You can literally drive your boat to your neighbor or friends houses as they are man made and wind around like cul-de-sacs. There is also a couple other small lakes. Plus a large harbor on one side of the Peninsula and the Ocean on the other.

Its a really cool place. I made a map, you can click around and see it. It was my favorite place to go as a kid fo sho. Spend all day out there. Nowadays I always stop at the canal front bar :) If you check out the islands in the lake, I have actually seen deer swimming from the unpopulated islands to the mainland. Crazy. If you look at the pic with my dad and dog and kid, just beyond them you can see the split. To the left is the canal system and to the right is the lake. Opens up right there.

I have a nice fishery about 20 yards from my back door...catfish, smallmouth, sunnies, sauger...nice being able to fish just about whenever I want...

My brother started a pork .... last night in his Big Green Egg...was great pulled pork for dinner and of course relaxed with Puff afterwards...

Not really any time for fun, I mean 24 hours in a car driving straight through in a 48 hour span. I figure I get up there around 7:00 Sunday night and crash, then meeting with a realtor first thing in morning, and touring some properties, then lunch and a shower, interview, then hit the road. Probably wont even get a chance to get up in the woods and get a short hike in unfortunately. Although my wife is calling it a "vacation" for me as I will be away from her and the kids. I suppose, but it is going to be a grind. Jerome will chronicle the voyage as time permits but I am trying to run the drives straight through so we shall see...plus time is not allowing for me to take the coast up from OC to San Fran, unfortunately, and that is one of the more beautiful drives in the world. Instead I will be racing across the desolate Central Valley between my place and Shoog's. Anyways, Jerome will keep y'all posted

I just made the trek to San Fran today. My brother flew in from West Point for the weekend, instead of flying into Fresno or L.A. he chose tree-hugger central. I'ma down home redneck, so I feel like an @$$hole up there in my lifted GMC Sierra v8 with mud tires and I'm surrounded by hundreds of Prius. I stepped out to gas up with cowboy boots, camo hat, and my pipe; people with Chai Lattes were breaking their necks like ..., is he smoking at the pump. LMAO. Come August, we are moving back to the South, where we won't feel so out of place.

No kidding right. That was my first thought, more pipe of the day chicks like Magnus used to do. Wonder where that fella is. He brought true comedic genius to this thread :)

Nice post Shawnski.

Pretty dang funny Shoog, Im laughing just picturing it!

Ya, Abs, Im a fishing fanatic. Sounds like you got a great spot! Im a bass fisherman for the most part. The lake has nice bass tournaments coming through. Always wonder where they went after they leave. There is always a rush for the lures they use at the local bait shop lol.

A retrospective on the corn-
As with any pipe, but perhaps more so with a cob, the character of the pipe reflects the character of the man.
Upon further pontificating over my years of puffs and drags, I have found that certain pipes can actually transform a man. Or perhaps it is just that there are pipes that assume situations. The cob is exactly that. It is humble, yet adventurous. It is sea worthy and thought provoking. It is calming and quant yet conquering and demanding. The cob loves to travel, demands peace, and projects risk.
A true companion pipe

When it comes to SHOOG, as a buddy of mine used to say, "don't let the smooth taste fool you." He talks a good game but he has proven loyal and true to BJ...and I am a guy who used to follow the Grateful Dead around and am considering a 5 figure pay cut to move his family to the Redwoods.

Pipe vaping - transcending race, creed, and culture since 2008.

Certain pipes can even change an android.

Speaking of perceptions and deceptions for that matter.
This happens fairly often and I was wondering if anyone else could confirm....
I find that when I am among people barely familiar with what I do, they often say ooooh that smells lovely! I love the smell of a pipe :).
Now the odd thing is that on many occasions I am not vaping anything that is remotely close to a pipe tobacco. People automatically smell pipe even if you are vaping root beer, or snail trail.... Weird.

I am...moved

If you are trying to sell those cobs, you will never need a marketing department. However, as I have learned how honest a man Matt is this retrospective cannot be taken lightly. I am sold. If there are any left in a day or two I may just have to pick one up. I have been debating finding a used beater for my car/pocket pipe but Matt has confirmed my suspicions on this. I am thinking straight shank egg, but I want opinion of the man himself. Matt, please recommend a corn cob shape and shank for Big Juicy so I can throw some more cash your way because shoot, I might need to get it shipped tomorrow so that I can have it delivered by Friday for my roadie!

Well, I obviously preferred the grey egg over the blonde billiard. It has a more weathered look and feel.
I will say though if a straight shanked pipe that sits upright is what you are after, go for the billiard.

That's kind of the essence of Rene Magritte's classic Surrealist painting "The Treachery of Images." You see the painting and your brain says "pipe," when objectively, what you're looking at is oil paint smeared around on a canvas, so he tells us "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" (This is not a pipe).
