Wow dude. Ok then. WOW. I mean, the Louisville is so friggin good I can't imagine it being bested...but I do know that the DD has quite a following. Have your tried the W2V Paris blend and can you share any thohghts? Still seeking my car/commute vape. Also, any thoughts on Backwoods Brew? I know their RY4 which is discontinued is legendary, and I was thinking of giving their Maple tobacco a whirl.

Old topic ... I looked at the stuff Juicy posted (W2V and ... eh ... the Managua) but I'm a non-PG vaper. Ahlusion LOOKS like I can get pure VG but won't know for sure until they open up again. I tend to shop late at night and haven't dealt with the "we close our web store at night" phenomenon before :) I'll buzz them tomorrow.

I'm wanting to sample a few other good tobacco juices but want to keep it to VG + water. Any other recommendations?

I'm going to order a few samples of the Johnson Creek "Red Oak" line tonight. They make the juice for Blu cartridges ... which I actually like the tobacco flavor of (some hints of chocolate) ... and the "Red Oak" is their newer VG-only line. Will report back. I was surprised when I found that Blu juices are still all made in the U.S. so I figure I might as well give their supplier a shot. I really hope to get through Ahlusion to be able to give a good comparison.

They only open up long enough to fulfill the orders that have been placed that day. They also will do 100%VG juices.

JC was one of my first juice purchases. I bought samplers of the entire line. Red Oak was around back then, 3-4 years ago. Anyway they have some nice Flavors. The Tennessee cured was pretty tasty and I remember a citrus that I liked, Valencia. Mercado is good too if you like clove

I agree. I believe if you contaact Ahlusion they may do an all VG

a lot of them have an all VG option just from the ordering screen. If I were you, I'd spin up a wish list really quickly with what you want to get. On the wishlist screen, you'll be able to select the mix just as if you were ordering it so, you'll know what is available and what to request. you can add to cart from the list so, it makes it really easy.

Yeah, CannedWolf is right. There's no need to contact Ahlusion about making 100% VG juices -- they're already set up for it. During ordering or making a wishlist, there's a dropdown menu that has all of the ratio options including 100% VG. You've got to hit them fairly early in the morning though, because sometimes they fill their daily order capacity within an hour or two. Makes it kind of a PITA to order from them if you're not a morning person.

Showing off your new pipe is entirely on-topic, sir. :) See, we buy them, and then post pics, and then everyone else buys more, and Matt gets rich. It's just how things work around here.

What kind of care does the M3 require? Wax? Oil? Obsessive polishing? Man, the grain in those hammers is insane. It's like clouds of vapor frozen in steel.

On the subject of tobacco juices: my work-vape has been rotating between three from Heather's Heavenly Vapes. Legend (formerly Gandalf) has a sweet cherry pipe tobacco thing going on, Sludge (Gollum) has a fruity raisin/plum type of character, and Dragon's Fire is a fairly straight tobacco, though also a bit on the sweet, RY4-ish side. They're all available in 100% VG, though I generally go 30/70 on my juices. If you want something less sweet, Dark Horse is some good stuff, too. Clouds of Vapor's COV4 is probably more candy than tobacco, but damn that stuff is tasty.

I tend to prefer the sweeter stuff when I'm out and about. The Pipe Sauce tobaccos are fantastic, and obviously required vaping in an EPM, but they demand a quiet, contemplative environment to properly sink in. But really, this is the EPM thread, and if you're searching for a good tobacco vape, they've been kind enough to carry it on the same website as the pipes... ;)

Photo Essay Alert!

So, I had purchased the Granny Smith epipe awhile ago and have been vaping on it quite happily. It definitely is a great shape, but I'll be honest here.. I actually thought it was blue when viewing the pictures uploaded. It was quite a surprise to see it in green when it first got here. I'm a designer and craftsman by trade so I know all about the colours not matching up on different monitors so I wasn't complaining.

After having it for awhile the dyes started to bleed during heavy use on to my palms. It should be noted that I have sweaty palms and I live in a tropical country, so again I wasn't unhappy by any means. I decided to try and reseal the finishing; then thought why stop there? I work with leathers and have access to a wide array of leather dyes and solvents.

The below chronicles Granny Smith's rebirth to a hot ginger.

This is Granny Smith as she was before her extreme makover.

I removed the sealant with acetone. I used Angelus deglazer.

This was followed by a light sandpapering. Can't remember the grit used but it was very fine. Deglazed again with acetone and sanded again after. This process was repeated until I could see the woodgrain clearly.

First coat of dye. I used a diluted mixture of orange and acetone. I was going for a nice antiqued orangey tone for this project. This was followed by multiple coats of dyes, light sanding, dyes, light sanding, dyes, light sanding.. You get the picture.

First coat of polish here. I did not have access to wood wax so I used a very high quality leather polish from Saphir. The wax contains amongst other things carnauba and beeswax.

Better shots in next post as I bust out the good camera!

Some shots below of Granny Smith Reborn with my Dwarve. It was a fun project that took me around 2 days from start to end, and only gives me an inkling of how hard it was for Matt and his crew to turn these out from blanks.

Since I have no moola to be in the run for any new pipes this week, I'll hang back and enjoy the Granny Smith while watching the epic fight that will so surely ensue for the Ents.
