I could be wrong but I believe Damascus and Mokume are similar, yet different...

Ok, well I guess I dont know. I thought they were all M3 and Damascus was basically the color. I didnt think any of these were real Damascus. I dont even know what Mokume is so we better wait for the captain of the EPM ship to show up :)

The M3 material simulates Damascus but is still an acrylic bonded material. The differences in color is due to using different particles in the M3 acrylic mix.

M3 isn't truly either, since both Damascus and Mokume steels would be different ways to pattern/mix the alternating metal colors. I can't IMAGINE how heavy and hard to work a block of real steel would be. The M3 simulates them a bit by mixing real metals into the acrylic and then mixing a couple of them together to create the pretty patterns.

PS. I've already got one coming, one of the "black and white" ones, trying real real hard to not pull the trigger on the black and gold. I'm getting to the point where I want bigger batteries but DAMN if these are a one-off run ... it is sorely tempting.

All of them are beautiful. I picked the Damascus just because I'm a nerd but I love the coloring on all of these

Thanks for the clarification Jahf.

excerpt from handforgemetal.com (google is my friend)

WHAT IS MOKUME GANE?
Mokume Gane is a decorative laminated material developed in 17th century Japan. It is made by bonding many layers of varying non-ferrous metals together to make a “wood-grain metal.” I make all of the Mokume Gane for my designs, with copper and brass sheet using the traditional fusion bonding method.

WHAT IS DAMASCUS STEEL?
Damascus steel is a beautiful material made up of hundreds of layers of different steel alloys, bonded (or forge-welded) together. It is typically made from scratch using a variety of high carbon tool steels. Because of its high-carbon content, it can be hardened and used for making strong precision tools like knives and chisels.

so yeah, it makes sense that M3 is neither, yet similar to both

That Black & White Mokume keeps calling my name. On the other hand I do have an extra brass RBA that needs a home.

But............this week all my moo-la is tied up in another hobby. Dang it. :p

Did I understand correctly that this might be the last release before vacations are had and hands are healed?

Congrats to all on our sweet scores! Picked up a CM Mjonir myself. Really excited about it.

Now who got Treebeard?! Show yourself!

lol, not me but I predict we will find out soon enough. Congrats on your Hammer my friend. Especially as the longest tenured EPM fan I know.
