Hey Vapdivrr...long time. I want to blame the clone....but it seems like it is very well made. The only way to find out if the clone is a good one is for some one that already owns an Erl to buy a clone and do a comparison. But I have to admit that I just can't stand the Derlin drip tip. I was making my coils like I do for my other atomizers....micro coils (1.5mm diameter) using 30g wire. But since the Erl has such a small chimney the vape was too intense. I also did micro coils using 28g wire but it was still too intense. After reading you post I decided to give the Erl another shot. I did an old fashioned 10 warp 3/32 coil using 28g wire. The vape is much better. I can't help but feel I need even thicker gauge of wire to smooth out the vape a bit more.....unfortunately I don't have any 26g wire left. Maybe I have to twist some wire. Any suggestions are welcome.

PS I also found that having no cotton going down the channels to work best.
I do have to admit that the vape is a little more intense and maybe that's why I like it so. I do use 26g with 2mm coils at about 1 ohm, I also use twisted 30g at about the same resistances. One thing that has changed the performance the most has been the use of rayon, not really because it has a better flavor then kgd but one is able to insert more in the coil without it choking. With more in the coil, the shoulders of the wick become higher and more fluffy, this helps in storing juice which does smooth out the vape more and increases both flavor and vapor. I have even added more to the shoulders by placing a small plug of rayon on top of a finished build which works really good. They will be adding a larger chimney as an option I believe, it won't be longer but will have more volume, so that might produce more vapor and cool it down some I believe. But yes, overall your right, it is slightly more intense then other tanks but by adding more volumne in the shoulders tones it down because of the extra held juice. Also e do I have found that if you actually set the coil on a drill bit on those channel arms, it is a bit to low. I slightly raised the coil which actually seemed to get more air to the coil, which also smoothed it out. Be good my friend
Another possibility is that the clones air flow maybe slightly less, if so it definitely could make for a excessively warm vape. Have you tried without the afc ring completely out?

@Vapdivrr....Yea I had to completely take out the AFC ring. Its funny how I used to like a very intense vape. I liked 1mm air holes a year ago... but it seems like with each successive atty I want more airflow and more vapor but less intense vapor. A year ago I would have hated the Orchid but now it is my favorite. Even the draw of the Aqua is on the tight side for me now. Another problem is I am too used to using regulated devices now. The IPV2 regulates everything above 4.0v. But it is inaccurate so when it shows 4.0v it really is 4.2v. When I transferred the Erl over to a mechanical device it vaped better....specially with the twisted 30g (after I saw your video). The Erl is vaping a lot better than it was a few days ago that's for sure but it is still too intense for me. I'll play around with the rayon wicking and see if I can tone it down some more. Thanks for the suggestions and take care.

I just also got the erlp and am noticing the airflow seems to be more open compared to the erlk which I am loving. Like you said, once you get used to a more open draw there is no going back. I think the hole in the positive pole is larger in the erlp so I need to measure but now I'm the erlk seems to tight. Might have to either get the open draw pole for the erlk (which is an optional part available) or open the hole myself.

I did just that (bought a clone for comparison purposes) and was pretty much ostracised for purchasing a clone even though I already own two authentic Erlks and additional optional parts.

The clone (purchased from G Vapers for 40 bux) is currently sitting on my build table but I don't want to get b!tch slapped again so haven't built it and posted a comparison thread or post.

This. I experienced the same. I always raise my coils higher than just the level received when laying the madrel in the wick channel mounting position. For whatever reason, it is a better vape for me. Love to hear those crackles.

I heard that the ErlP has a more open air flow, I don't own one so I don't really know but on my ErlKs I leave the AFC off and have the optional Open Draw Posi Pole Holder (2mm vs 1.5mm stock) installed on both of mine.

A company makes a less expensive version of their high end atty and most still buy a 'clone' from Fastech...
Because the "clone" is an accurate copy of an Erlkonigin, and from reports, all parts are interchangeable, whereas the Erlprinz is missing parts like the juice control ring and has different parts than the Erlkonigin.
I've been told that the Elprinz is a repackaged clone anyway.
None of the clones on FastTech are an Erlprinz clone. You would think a rebadged clone would at least be an accurate copy, wouldn't you?

At least with the Erlprinz you can expect some kind of support behind the product and you have an "authentic" no matter how cheap/expensive it is. With the FT copy you have a copy that might or not be an exact copy. For example, the Erlprinz is shipped with a bigger airflow (2mm) than the Erlkönigin (1.6mm although expandable to 2mm with option part). If the FT copy is a 1:1 counterfeit, it will come with the 1.6mm hole so to get an airier draw, you will need to get the option part that costs €15.90 (US$20.14) so you FT clone is already at over $40... which is about the same or more than the Erlprinz and thats only just one aspect of it.

I'm all for clones. Heck, I have a KFL nano clone but in this particular case, is it really worth it? Don't think so.

PS: The juice control ring has no use when using cotton/rayon. It comes handy when wicking with silica but not much more.

We'll see. I have the day off so if I get around to it, I'll post up a comparo thread.

Indeed. I am currently using my ErlKs without the juice control ring and haven't had any issues.

Since the ErlK was built using silica as the wicking material of choice, some of us in the ErlK thread have determined that its intended purpose was not really juice control but rather to hold the silica tails in place.

Although the erlp is indeed missing the ring, it is able to fit certain parts of the erlk. When I ordered the erlp, I also ordered the erlk nano kit which fits, so I have a nanoerlp

Yeah, they not happy with me since I posted that I ordered 2 FT clones. LOL. Oh well. I want an original, but with holidays coming and other expenses I just can't swing it. So out of curiosity, caused by them, I caved and bought the clones...... big deal.

I suppose I really shouldn't give a damn what others think. Screw it! I didn't get to it today, but I'll give it my best soon.

I would really like to know and being you have an authentic, it will be great to hear the difference. I love my erlk and am actually enjoying the erlp even more. I am getting to the point where all my other tanks are gathering dust, so if the clone is awesome, I just might try one.
