Have a battery that stays lite, or just seems finicky?

I have cleaning that helped me save a battery I thought was dead.

Tools: Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol, small clear plastic or glass container, paper towels.

1.Stand the battery upright with the LED end facing up in the container.

2.Fill container with Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol until the liquid just covers the side air hole.

3.Wait for about an hour.

4.Remove battery and dry with paper towel.

5.Cover the battery air hole loosely with paper towel and blow into the battery connection end.

6.Stand battery upright with LED end facing up for 3-4 days.

It worked for me!

That would definitely be above my skill level, haha. But I have three working batteries so it's all good. I will try another alcohol soak today and if it isn't any better after a few days of drying, I may send it to whoever it was in the other thread who wanted to pull one apart. And even if this battery can't be saved, I don't care. I love the eroll, and the batteries are so cheap that it would be no problem to buy a new one every couple of months. I am currently wiping out the cones of my other batteries when I refill, hoping to avoid this in the future. :)

I recently purchased an eRoll after reading all 308 pages of the thread - exhausting, I tell you. I'm mostly happy with the purchase.

Only one time did it leak into the PCC - I think I may have overfilled it. Now, when I fill a tank, I orientate the PCC in my pocket so the charging end is up. Haven't seen any leaks since. The only annoyance I have is there are often tiny droplets that emerge from the tank and the cone while I'm vaping and it covers my fingers with oiliness (I'm currently vaping 80/20, clear liquid). Maybe this is due to my vaping style - see below:

Now, for my vaping style: I vape one tank and (often) one battery per session - about 20-25 minutes. I draw pretty fast, but only about 4-6 seconds.

On day 2 one battery began to draw very hard. I followed (some of) the directions above and they worked! Sort of. I soaked the battery as prescribed and dried it with a paper towel. Then, I blew air through the hole on the charging end, which didn't seem to accomplish much. Then, I blew air through the side hole, and that seemed to clear it out a bit.

I let the battery air dry for about 5 minutes, and vaped away. To my surprise, it hit great - just like brand new! Then after about 4 good hits, it went into the "I'm gonna turn on and hit for ten seconds whether you like it or not" mode. I managed to keep up with it, and it was kind of fun, at least the first time. Now it does it every time. I think it's progress though. I let the battery sit overnight, and I'm going to try it again when I get home from work.

On the way to work this morning, my other battery started to draw hard. Then at my first vape break, it hit a bit easier, but not like it should. I haven't noticed liquid in the batteries or on the contacts, and I've cleaned the contacts gently with a q-tip in a counter-clockwise fashion a few times.

How am I killing these batteries so quickly? Am I just hitting it to hard? Ugh... When it works, it's awesome.

And I'll finish by saying that even when the battery draws hard, it's still a better hit than I ever got from my original 510!

Thanks for all the advice, and I'll post the results of the battery cleaning process as time goes on.

Well, my second battery behaved a little better throughout the day. It seems OK, not new, but OK.

The battery that I cleaned (and would stick in the on position) works fine now. It seems a bit cleaner, but not new.

I tried the shaking thing, and it didn't seem to help.

It's very annoying, but again, still hits better than my 510 ever did. Can't wait to see version 2.0!

So how long have you had it? I discovered a similar problem by accident. I actually didn't realize but after chain vaping in the evenings for two weeks, I was having serious issues with my TMJ disorder acting up (jaw displacement). I know it was from the slow long draw, but it seemed like I was drawing very hard to get a good hit.

On Monday or Tuesday, I soaked my atty's in alcohol to clean them, thinking that it was my juice gunking up the works. Seemed to help some, but not much.

Simultaneously I ordered new atty's figuring at some point I will have to change them.

Got the atty's today and decided I would change the old ones out, because I just got some new juice too and wanted a clean taste.

Lo and behold, the new atty's have way less resistance and I'm vaping up a storm without much effort at all.

Could it be that you just might need to replace the atty?

It's weird. I'm beginning to think it was simply a gummed atty, but I swear, the problem got better when I swapped batteries. Anyway, see my dry burning an eRoll atty without an eGO battery thread - it may help people with a gummed atty. Also, I can't believe I gummed an atty in two days. I won't mention the brands of juice I was using because I don't want to implicate anybody.

Coming from an original 510, I've found that I need to lower my nic content considerably because this thing chews through the juice. I often vape a tank at a time, so it's really easy to get queasy. This is such an improvement from the 510!

With the cleaning the battery, it has to sit an for a couple of days. I really don't know why, but I had the same experience. Gets stuck on right after clean, and you think oh no now its really messed up. After a couple of days it works fine. If you are getting a battery with juice under the atty it is going to gum up the auto battery. Sounds like the juice might your culprit. Might be to thin. How often are you clean out the cone?
Have you pulled the spike off the atty? (I have not read the other thread yet) If yes, did you leave tooth marks from the needle nose pliers?

Gah! I'm hearing leak and auto switch issues similar to plain old minis. I was hoping g that crud was worked out in this thing. sigh. buyers remorse already and it hasn't even arrived yet.

To be fair, the auto switch didn't have an issue until I blew through the other side of the battery. And, like Eric said, the problem seems to have vanished by today. I really think it was a gummed atty issue, not the battery as I first suspected. We'll see. Good luck - I really think you'll like the unit. Due to its portable nature, it's pretty easy to forgive some of its shortcomings.
