Just saw this somewhere else on ECF..

Asolo 200W_Shenzhen IJOY Technology Co.,Ltd. - Ijoy e-cigarette/Most electronic cigarette manufacturer innovation

Claims to work with any wire and even tells you when your juice is low...lol!

Thought ladies and gentlemen??
Personally I don't like the looks with it being a little too squarish but I could live with it. I would wonder why you would need 200W if you are using TC mode. I would prefer to run the batteries in parallel than in series to get longer life since I would never need that much power.

Sounds a little suspect, wasn't aware kanthal could be done in such a way. After all, the current devices will kick you out of TC in the presence of kanthal.

It implies that it is measuring temp directly somehow - at least thats how it seems to me..I call BS!

Feels awfully close to riding the coattails of the recent research of dry burning coils. But I digress I don't have the technical knowledge to provide you with any worth while information.

Works like a charm. More surface area, stiffer wire than NI200, and electricity follows the path of least resistance so the Nickel always wins. The electrical properties of the Kanthal are not used. It also plays a part in keeping the wire warmer longer.

Either way if it does what it says it does then more power to it (no pun intended). It would be rather interesting to see to say the least. But I'm good for vapemail in june. With my eVic VT coming then and hopefully my sx350j box mod too .

Problem with using any alloy like A1 or NiCr is the consistency of the wire. Something like Ni200 is very consistent, so the change in resistance for the change in temperature is predictable. Kanthal 1 or other alloys like that can tend to be all over the map...as such I believe that at this time, the processing power and tech to have accurate temperature sensing using Kanthal A1 (yes, I'm .... about calling it "A1"- Kanthal is a manufacturer and also makes Nichrome and ni200) is possible today....however, the size ,cost and number of hoops you would have to jump through to make it work would be prohibitive at this time.

Sounds to me like they are merely throttling power perhaps based on something like the duration of the puff. Probably something similar to what Smok is doing (no resistance monitoring, but simply throttling power based on some unknown algorithm). It might work "a little" but it's probably nowhere as effective or accurate as an RTD that uses the TCR of nickel.

The description on their site sort of leads me to that conclusion, specifically step #1:

1. Choose a good wattage for the tank by the user, user would try several puffs, when you find a best taste, you can press the bottom to tell the device you love this taste, and the device will keep it in its memory.
2. Enter the temperature control mode by press the bottom of the big “T”.
3. Operate the temperature control easily by choose the %’ F from 80%~110%, it is most like the YIHI

This is really an interesting idea. Find a preferred vape temp by taste first, then lock the settings to maintain that vape. Even with Kanthal it might be able to tell the resistance difference when the temp is high enough to actually vape, rather than setting a base resistance at ambient temp when resistance is at it's lowest point. It would have to have a very precise resistance meter, but it's an interesting theory. And it has a narrow window (+10%/-20%) of the initial set point to adjust and dial in a vape from the hot set point.

I have no idea how this will work out in the real world, and I don't plan to be one of the early adopters of this device. But I will keep an eye on it just to see what happens and if this control mechanism actually works. It is interesting though.

rounding third and heading home...
awhile back when i wrote ijoy about their acme tank they said they would be coming out with this device. they told me they had been doing research for this for quite awhile. this is no "fly by night" mom and pop company- they have the resources and capability to build such a mod- one that works. like everyone else i will await the testing and reviews -needless to say, if this works as advertised and the price is reasonable it will be a "game changer". that term is thrown about a lot in vaping but this would actually qualify as such a device. it will be nice to have more than yihi or evolv as players in this area. more players will mean better products for all vapers...

well maybe we can find out-i inquired about the pre-order so maybe i can snag one of these and run it through its paces. certainly sounds like an interesting device and it would be nice to find out one way or another....
