I use nude nicotine flavors and they use by and ethyl alcohol. When I mix a batch I put it in the crockpot with the lid on for 8 hours then I take it out and let it sit on the shelf with the lid off for a day or two so the alcohol evaporates.

I've tried it straight shake and vape and the tastes was bad just really strong alcohol but it does go away

How safe to vape is that?

Ethyl alcohol (ethanol, grain alcohol) is the good kind, the one that's good for drinking. The stuff you want to look out for is methyl alcohol (that's methyl with an "M," also known as methanol, wood alcohol, or naphtha) or isopropyl (rubbing alcohol). Those are deadly poisons, and I wouldn't want to vape them. I don't mind using isopropyl for cleaning parts and supplies, but I always give them a good rinse after, and for soaking/cleaning coil heads I just use cheap vodka.

Edit: In case you're hung up on the word "alcohol," note also that both glycerol ("vegetable glycerine") and propylene glycol are both alcohols as well. And you don't worry about vaping those, do you?

Maybe I should. We currently do not have enough research/knowledge to predict what the long term effects are ... Alcohol is the least of my concerns. Try the 300 chemicals that go into making a single strawberry flavor.

I recently purchased some ethyl alcohol from a pharmacy overseas and debating whether it is safe to use or not. The ingredient list contains only the alcohol and 30% water - no other additives. I know some US pharmacies sell ethyl alcohol over the counter with a warning that it should not be consumed/congested - probably because they have added additional ingredients like acetone to keep everyone from consuming it. Since mine does not list these additives, I am debating whether it's safe to use it in mixing. Opinions anyone?

Thanks Hoosier, you're a genius. But first I will have to try 140 proof to see what it tastes like before I test the alcohol. I have some 80 proof vodka. It should give me a rough idea....

P.S. I tried it, and it tastes really good !! I think I will have a drink ... Thanks again.

If it tastes like 140 proof Everclear on your tongue, it isn't denatured and should be fine for mixing.

I've only drank the 190 proof stuff straight, so the 140 should be smooth as glass.

I have drunk 200 proof (USP grade dehydrated), how could I miss an opportunity? As an alien I just have to drink anything even remotely drinkable. But even in a bit diluted state it was worse than everclear. Sure, total amount of impurities is smaller for USP alcohol, but as for impurities that give harshness, vodka is better.

5 gallon water service jug. 10 lbs. of sugar. 5 packets of baking yeast. Mix up sugar and yeast at 90F(+or-), just don't get too much warmer you'll kill the yeast. Air-lock in jug top hole to run ferment anaerobically. Let sit at ambient room temperature for 6-9 weeks so bugs get their fill and air-lock virtually stops bubbling.

Still in say a 32 quart stainless stock pot with appropriate copper tubing to a 8 quart adapted pressure cooker "thumper" then run the riser about 3 foot high, copper all the way, NO aluminum/avoid brass except fittings where you must. Top out riser tube into coil in a cool water bucket for condensation and exit coil tube from cooling bucket into your quart Mason Jars, better have 5 or 6 of em.

Fire up Mama's front stove burner under big pot and bring temp up to 175F, more or less, better maybe a hair more. Once temp comes up to about 175F in the "thumper" get ready and make sure the cooling water is flowing slowly in the cooling bucket. Control the "thumper" temp to 180F as many hours as you can. Oh,make sure you throw away the first 100mls. as this stuff is methanol, aldehydes, ketones and other toxics(poison).

After about 8-10 hours you should be able to yield 3-1/4 quarts, or so, of 162 proof ethanol. Tastes ever so sweet and burns like hell. If you run just a small still for a spirit run(second run) on your first yield maintaining say 175-180F very steady and carefully you can get 2-1/2 quarts of 190, but by this time the process is very energy intensive and time consuming. Still and all, it's cheaper than Evervlear.

Might google diy moonshine. Don't talk much and sure as hell don't get caught selling the stuff.

Unless you get the Kosher organic flavors with no artificial ingredients like I do.

Wait, organic flavors don't have chemicals?

It's my understanding that the lab-created flavors are actually safer, because you know, FDA and all that, and they don't *add* anything harmful; whereas mother nature has no FDA, and all organic substances potentially run the gamut from healthy and life-giving to deadly poison -- and with organic flavors, it's all there, good and bad stuff. I use the Inawera Shisha Strawberry, and the stuff is a MASSIVE coil gunker, because it's organic, or organically-derived. So I know there's a lot of stuff in there that isn't pure flavor.
