cograts matadorx! Make sure the caps polarities are correct and always check all connections and solders are ok before firing it up. A multimeter/tester is very handy to have and have helped me got mine working the first try.

w00t! I have a soft spot for wood mods. I don't have any but I'd love to built one myself. Did you build your cedar enclosure yourself?

I will build it as soon as I can dig out the router. Got some salvage cedar from a barn. Made some flutes with it. The grain is very nice. Since it is well aged it does not have that strong cedar smell.

I'm slowly getting all the parts I need to build one of these, I just have a quick question. I noticed that Tantalum caps are quite a bit more expensive than any other caps. What exactly is the difference in capacitor types, and can I use Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors or say Ceramic ones which are much much cheaper?


these ones are .15 each, will they work?

tantalums last much longer, usually the life of the circuitry, while aluminium ones have life about 1000 hours based on spec sheets. I've blown an aluminium caps on one of my evercool mods but the 08100 chip survived the catastrophy. huhuhu

Thanks raceengine, $2.75 compared to $.15 is tempting.. but I'll go ahead and get some tantalums.

Anyone know of a any 200 ohm pots that have the shaft to mount a knob on? I dont feel like dicking with those little screws all the time. I have seen the pots with the dial adjuster like on the buzz pros but I think I'd like to have a knob style.

2x dual 18650's and 1x dual 14500.

Getting 2 days from the 14500 mod and a week from the 18650 mod.

You could... but as I understand it only the first 200 ohms of adjustment on that pot will affect voltage. 10k worth of adjustment might make it nearly impossible to fine tune.

Put a 200ohm resistor in parallel

The MV kit comes with a 50K pot. Maybe they changed at some point, IDK.

I wouldn't use that pot, I would go with what is known to work well. You can try it but don't be too disappointed if it doesn't work like you want it to.
