i dont know if this has been asked,

but is it possible to purchase a already made EVERCOOL chipset??

ive made a couple mods, a puck, and a 3.7v lil li ion box

i ask because iam just getting into and ready to make my first VVolt mod, which the wife is likely to steal away from me...
i ordered a REV2 kit from madvapes... is that a mistake? or can i mod that one into an "better" chipset by using differant or better capasitors?

i dunno i love this thread but so many fears and questions still sit in my head, i know i should read more about it but i figure to juss ask and get opinions first too...

thanks for any help and input, i hope this first VVolt mod goes down smooth

I can make and send you a chip set for just the cost of parts and shipping. All you will have to do is wire it into your mod box. Oh and the madvapes linear VV chip sucks compares to switching regulators! ....ty battery like, and it gets hot enought to fry an egg on the chip. The Ti or Murata VV chips never get hot.

very cool! what would be the costs for all said and done you think??

ahhh damn! its not a switching reg? its a VVolt... i thought linear was one set voltage, as in 5volts linear... iam prolly wrong on that though... switching was what i thought switching, as in switching between low volt and a high volt...

i was totally kind of septical on the REV2 reg but iam basically making this first VVmod for my wife and she hardly vapes heavy like me, lol a 900mah 14500 batt lasts her like 2 almost 3 days lol if you can believe that.. lolol

is there anything i can do to mod the REV2 that iam getting? maybe some better or bigger capsitors? iam doubtful but iam the obivous noober when it comes to these switching voltage regulators...

the pics in the first few pages confused me the power and gnd are soldered in the middle of the chipset it looks like

i was thinking of getting this chip set in the first place, http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-DC-3-30V...ultDomain_0&hash=item255e1a27dd#ht_5233wt_881 but it would take forever and a day to get here

I would love an evercool to drop into a 5v box that overheats and won't handle a DC. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Just tell me how much and how to send the money. Paypal?

I noticed after skimming nearly 100 pages here (LOL) that it appears most of yall are using the master slide switch on the AAA box on this mod. That would concern me, so I must be missing something in the pics and instructions.

So... What's up, Doc? Does my insomnia have me half witted or am I seeing this right?

They use the master switch in conjunction with a momentary switch. That way you can turn the master switch off and it is completely pocket safe.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Wooden, but I think he was talking about using the existing CRAP slide switch that comes with those boxes and not replacing it with a 3amp slide switch??

The switch is crap, but as it is not switching active current, there is not that nice little spark when it's flipped sot it lives a lot longer than would be expected.

Switches normally die from the arching that occurs when the switch is activated. This doesn't happen with this switch because there is no current flowing through it until the momentary switch is activated.

I'll just say right off, I'm not electronics edjamacated, but I do read a lot and have read that LED's and touch switches draw power even when the momentary is not active.

Yes?

Only if they are wired prior to the momentary switch. It all depends on how you have the circuit setup. However those things are low amp and don't cause the big current that the atty does. And that is the current what kills switches.

Yeah, the crap switch is exactly what I was referring to. LOL
i picked up a nice lot of 3A rockers that fit in the existing slot with a little "convincing". They come out very "stock" looking, but the effort is pretty high. If I can use the existing slider like you guys, I'll save myself some trouble and give it a whirl.

Thanks.

OK... i'm stumped... i went to radioshack and picked up two different packs of capacitors... the ceramic disk capacitors and the electrolytic capacitors...

I have the TI chip, i have everything else... but i have no idea how to tell which capacitor i should use... i get that i should be using the 100uf 10v capacitors, but i can't seem to see any that say that on them... the brown disk ones mainly have a 10 underlined with a black dot at the top... si that the one??

Please, help... i'm all but done my new mod and getting the vv right is the last step... i'd love to have this vaping tonight!!

Ps... the elecrolytic caps have a bunch of 100uf 16v caps... will they work??
