I'm well into my third month now. I pretty much have a vaping routine now, but for the last couple of weeks, things don't taste as bright and flavorful as they used to. I clean my batteries at least twice a week, refill often so I don't burn my carts, wash the carts, and make sure they are pretty dry before refilling. I get a flavor, but not as punchy. As I mentioned, I do make sure the carts are dry, but it also seems to be this way with new prefilled carts. I thought about not vaping a day, maybe to reset my tastebuds, but I don't want to stop. My regulars are white chocolate, peppermint chocolate, and watermelon. I do have other flavors, mango, chocolate vg, etc. that I vape in rotation. Are my tastebuds just getting overwhelmed? I also vape slower, to take my time, instead of chain vaping, like when I first started. But all I get is dry mouth, even though I drink plenty of water. Everything kind of tastes the same, but a hint of the so called flavors. I don't mix flavors, so it's not like I am getting a mishmosh. I do get plenty of vapor, but just not the flavor.

Thanks for the insight, you amazing peeps!!!

I've had it happen for a day or two every few weeks, but never lasting that long. My sympathies. Maybe your batteries are getting old? You could check them on a meter to see if they are fully charging.

Do you have a passthru? It runs at a higher voltage and sometimes gives flavors an extra punch. Sometimes I vape plain VG so when I go back to flavors I appreciate them more.

i'm sure the more experienced folks will chime in for you, susden -- like mary kay or our resident juice junkie keelalagirl! but maybe your tastebuds are telling you it's time to try something different -- maybe a flavor you haven't tried or maybe a mix of 2 flavors you already like -- a lot of folks say their tastes change a lot after a few months.

It happens to most of us at one time or another...drink lots of water, keep your teeth brushed and/or gargle frequently, even scrape your tongue. Try blending a couple of flavors for a change-up from your regular vaping or simply put the pv down and read or take a walk instead of chain vaping. Like genuinefraud suggested...sometimes a break is required :)

Hey Susden Happy Mothers Day!

You have asked and answered you question at the same time, your suspicions are correct. Taste bud overload can happen when you have a certain combo of flavors working in rotation. I went through this a couple of months ago when I put some Sour Green Apple in rotation. As well, when was the last time you broke out a fresh blank Carto?

I'm guessing something changed with your regular vaping habits 2-3 weeks ago, new flavor, perhaps starting to use VG which I have read (never used 100% VG juices) can leave the mouth feeling like it has a coating.

As I'm sure you have discovered some Cartos really can be used 30+ times without being burnt. However, they do start to suffer from another form of death where the Atomizer only heats up along 1/2 to 3/4's of the coil. It will still produce vapor, but the flavor is vastly diminished. Once portions of the Atomizer coils no longer heat up it basically has the effect of raising the ohms. When this happens the less than optimal heat severely dullens the flavor. This is that point where you need to toss the Carto. Think of it like Christmas tree lights, when only half the lights on a strand light up.

I would definitely take a break for at least half a day, brush you teeth throughout the day, tongue, cheeks, and gums. Maybe hit a little fresh or pickled ginger root if you got it. Carefully analyze and remove what ever factor changed 2-3 weeks ago. It could be a single flavor, could be the V.G., could be the Cartos or a combo of all these things. When you do return to vaping load a fresh Blank and stay with just one of your standard pg/vg flavors.

If it's just the Carto, then all I can say is congratulations! If you get so many uses out of a Carto that the Atomizer is starting die....you've have done very well! Talk about after-sale cost per use! You're a smart gal...so I know you've figured that out... and those number are pretty damn impressive. :2cool:

Hope this helps and taste bud order is restored!

thank you, mr. snow --I didn't realize this, and thought that as long as they weren't burnt they were ok. Makes a lot of sense, though!

Once again great info, thank you. If my taster is not working very well yet from trying to get off analogs, it won't produce vapor when the carto is burnt? Is there anything else I should be watching for? Also, read that drip every couple hours when vaping alot to prevent burning the carto, but aren't they supposed to last equivalent to at least half a pack of analogs? As always, any help is greatly appreciated!

Intersting... This has happened to me and put me in a semi depression till everything came back to normal, so now I take it in stride, and expect it every once and again. Flavors like Watermelon are so mellow that I notice I can't taste it after a more potent vape, like say wow coffee or wow peppermint. So I think you've got good advice so far here, brushing and rinsing and waiting it out. Use the passthrough!!! Just chiming in so you know it happens to others as well. G'luck :)

I also brush my whole mouth with baking soda when I get this....seems to clean everything and make it taste again. Someone said it balances the PH in your mouth. I think it's just that the baking soda tastes so bad that everything afterwards tastes good :D

Lol!! I was going to suggest Susden try the pumpkin pie...maybe it would jolt her tastebuds back into action :)

I had a four-day period once when I couldn't taste any of the flavors. Then for no apparent reason, the tastes came back. In the past two weeks I have been getting extreme dry mouth
several times a day. I am drinking plenty of water. But the dry mouth still happens out of the blue. I'm hoping that will stop soon as well. Good Luck.
