Somebody please help me with this.

I've got many different clearos - CE4, Titan, Vivi Nova, Kanger Protank, bottom coil, etc.

Every time I get one it works for a little while (as in, a few hours for a few days), and then it seems like all of my fluid is burning. It tastes absolutely dreadful, and this is threatening my commitment to vaping. I've found good fluids - when they don't burn - but there are days like today, when I use my bottom coil - burn - and then change to my CE5 - burn. Everything tastes burned. And they are BRAND NEW.

I'm just using a normal eGo battery.

Please, someone, recommend the best equipment for the least burning. I can't take this nastiness anymore. I thought about carto tanks, but every time I go to buy some I don't understand what I'm buying. I don't know what I need to get.

hmm... on a normal ego it shouldnt go over 3.7v which shouldnt burn. Even with only a 1.8ohm atomizer i can goto 3.8v without burning juice. I use and ego twist with stardust and vivi nova minis. The only time I get dry/burnt hits is when the juice is low and the wicks arent getting wet enough or if i have my twist turned up too high fir some reason.

have not had consistent burnt taste from mine, even the T3, MT3 when they worked. Read the thread about cleaning before first use. my CE4+ has infrequent burnt taste off and on, but it goes away. I'm only carrying authentic Vision 2.0s around now and they don't give burnt taste yet... i even suck em down til only the wicks are wet, tank dry. keep an eye on it and get a few more vapes before i refill or clean...and still no burnt taste. thats why i like the V

for initial out of the box cleaning, i use a lil cheap vodka less than 1 oz in a small coffee cup i use for cleaning parts. swish it around, then i add some water to cover the parts and dilute in case the silicone parts dont like ethanol, or i remove the top silicone caps. let it soak for an hour. i've seen machine oil and floaties on the water after.

don't know the ohms or volts you're using, i'm finding lower volts are better all around. I also tried some dry burning yesterday, after washing and soaking i let them dry on paper towel overnight. this morning wicks are mostly dry. remove top and silicone and tip, screw it down and hit it until it turns orange for a second. then back off. after a few of these you can see the coil is silver again.

Have you tried another battery? If for some reason your ego is putting out more voltage than it should be it could burn juices easier. Im just trying to think of reason it could happen since I havent had an issue like you are having.

I always recommend variable voltage batteries when people ask what to get since you can adjust them as needed so you dont burn juices and can find the perfect voltage for taste/vapor.

The thing is I don't understand a lot of what is being said. Some say they get by just fine with a normal set up, others have to do all sorts of cleaning...

I have used two different eGo type batteries and the same thing happens with both of them. No matter what clearo I use - Vivi, Kanger Protank, bottom coil CE4, etc. - it tastes burned maybe 75% of the time. I do not take big long draws. I take little ones.

As for ohms, I have no idea. I just bought all the clearos and used them. It's pretty normal stuff, nothing fancy. It's just variations on the Apollo starter kit.

It's weird, because it wasn't like this for my first two weeks. I got a Kanger Protank and I used it for a few days, then it just fried my liquid. Really, it made me want to puke. Ever since then every clearo I use and every fluid burns roughly three quarters of the time. I've had to go back to my crappy V2 ciggy models with prefilled cartos.

I want to get a VV battery but the ones I've seen are too pricey for me right now. My fear is that I'll find a voltage that doesn't burn the liquid but is so low it doesn't give me much vapor.

Really I just want to know what is typically taken to be a dynamite setup that gives a good vape. By "good vape" I mean "Relatively little burning." I can deal with a lot of hassle, but three out of every four vapes making me nauseous is too much hassle.

So VV battery... and what tank? Where do I get it?

I understand your confusion, I've been in the same boat. I'm curious; how long have you been vaping? A couple of weeks into vaping I went through a simular ordeal, really nasty isn't it?! Kept changing clearo's, batteries, juice, finally it got better. Probably one of the most helpful tips I got was the one telling us to drink LOTS of water while vaping, a real pain for me cause I'm not fond of water, but it really does help. Have you tried changing juice or nic levels? Keep us in the loop & keep trying! Best wishes:(

BTW...the ViviNova came with heads of differing ohms...some may not work well.

I wouldn't go "chasing another setup" until you get good with what you have....

I could probably get all of those to work with varying degrees of vapor on the standard eGo. So take a sec, pause, and give us more info on the juice side of the equation. What are you putting into it? What ohms?

As a true Newbie myself, here is my :2c: What I was afraid to do, is what I was supposed to do. Swirl the ecig, as you smoke it. I had heard so many stories of the horrors of overfilling and burning, that I was stiff with my ecig. I was so afraid I would get ejuice into a component that it shouldn't go in, I barely moved my arm as I vaped. Then, someone (possibly AttyPops here ^^) said to swirl the ecig. To move the ejuice and mix it as you vape it. I found that it really helps! I also have found: What I call a burned taste/smell, is actually considered "Tobacco" flavor/smell. To me, it was not what I liked, but MANY people truly enjoy it. So, I began mixing ejuices. Pre-Made ejuices, flavors that I thought would go well together, like adding a little Vanilla to a strong Coffee flavor to mellow it out. And, finally, I found that I really don't enjoy straight VG juice! It just tastes burned to me. If you don't have a vv device (I don't) I think the straight VG juice gets too hot on a straight eGo device. I think the PG heats better in a non-variable device. Please hang in there and try some mixing and experimenting. And, drink lots of water! The tastebuds are going haywire! They are used to one brand/one flavor of smoke, not various flavors and densities of water vapor! Let us know how you progress! :)

ALong with the excellent advice about swirling your juice let me add another reason to do it.

If you are using a top coil device like the Vivi or a CE5 when you get down to the end of a fill the juice just doesn't wick up those LONG wicks as well. Swirling the remaining liquid onto to wicks can help prevent a burned wick (the wick is actually threaded through the heating cool deep inside and at the top of the device). Once a wick burns badly enough nothing short of replacing the head or (more advanced) rebuilding the head will fix it.

And have you tried to dry burn your clearo's?? You might have gunk build up. How are you cleaning them?

    Notice she said CLEARO.

NEVER DRY BURN A CARTOMIZER. You will burn the fluff inside and it will never taste anything but burnt after that. In fact on cartomizers you should check to make sure they have not dried out or you will burn them. they stuffing in them should looks slushy when full.

Slept on this - You said you are taking 'little short puffs' / it works at first then taste burnt / Try this-- new clearo on two different batteries - same juice; take a nice long pull on it-hold- let it out...now switch to the other one & do the same. Wait a minute , maybe suck on it without pushing the button, do it again. Is it okay? If so you may be "puffing" too often in a short amount of time for your wicks to get wet again. It's not a cigarette & you can't "smoke it" like one. Would love to know if this helps!

something seems off... hard to believe EVERY single delivery device you are using is causing a burnt taste?

gotta be your battery, the ohms, or the juice you are using?

carto tanks can be a little confusing at first.. just you tube a few videos and that should help!

it's been 2 weeks and I'm still using the original wick on one of my protanks and its still working amazing. no dry hits, no burnt taste etc.. same with my iclear30's - they perform great 98% of the time.
