This is a thread for those of us with faulty units, yes there are plenty of units that function correctly so if that's you please don't feel the need to tell us yours is fine, this thread is just for those with issues and what Joyetech is doing to rectify the situation.

My problem is with Ti coils and the 'anemic vape' situation.

When you first attach a coil, the unit functions well until it goes into sleep mode and the mod recalibrates. After that there is barely any vapor at all and you either have to crank the temperature up to 520f + to get anything out of it or a coil reset will work until the unit goes to sleep again.

I have written 4 emails to JT, 3 of which bounced back and one is being ignored. I've even posted on their support forum and the whole thread is being ignored by the moderator.

I have tried various coils, tanks, batteries and wire, I've updated the firmware, downgraded and upgraded again, taken the battery out, taken the unit apart to check for bad soldering but it's got to be either a faulty resistance sensor or firmware related.

It's just frustrating that the company is ignoring this issue entirely. If you have any issues with yours please post here.

Thank you shlinky for putting this thread up. My evic VTC mini has the same problems as above in both ni and ti. It is unusable in TC. Sometimes it works for a minute then as soon as it sleeps it drops .01 or .02 and vape becomes anemic. Joytech just responded to my email so I hope they can take care of it in a timely manner since I sent them a email 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Saw one of the vendors i bought one from today, he was unaware of the issue (i brought him up to speed - he has quite a number sold and in stock), he said if you have no joy from joytech this week in even acknowledging the issue, bring it back and he'll fully refund the cost and send it back as a return. I assume the other vendor will do the same.

I wouldn't just assume the other vendor would do the same, I had a faulty VTC mini and bought from what I thought was a reputable vendor and they did nothing for me. Just be careful and ask them questions. I had video evidence of it failing and they still said no.

Wow! That's not good at all. Are you at liberty to say exactly which vendor gave you a raw deal? I'd like to know, so as to stay away from them.

Good to know! Thank you for providing that info.

I have been fortunate over the years and count myself lucky to have dealt with few problems concerning vape gear.

One crazy example of good customer service:
I purchased a Cthuhlu V2 a while back (Eciggity). There was a pretty deep scratch on the top cap; just annoying at best. I contacted Cthuhlu Mods directly about this production issue.....they sent me a new top cap from China. The whole process took less than 2 weeks with no money out of pocket. Rare awesome company!

Meanwhile, after emailing joyetech with details and pictures proving the temp control/atty lock issue, i finally got a reply:

Dear friend

Thanks for your email.
For this problem kindly suggest you use our ego one atomizer.
Or you can turn it off and remove the tank until it is cool down.

Best wishes!

So either, i buy their Ego One tank, which everyone who got a full sized VT will tell you is less than well, crap

Or

I have to take the tnak off each time i wish to vape...like im doing now, and suffer

Great customer support Joyetech....

Ill be returning both of my Minis for a refund if they dont come up with a fix by next week......

Ive contacted the vendor i bought my forst one off to give him a heads up it will be coming back most likely, he's a stand up guy like the other one i demo'd the issues in front of.

Hi all, if it's of any help, this is my experience with this issue and work around.

My unit have all the symptoms of a wonky TC and almost gave up on it. Waking up from sleep and shows 0.02 - 0.03 ohms lower than actual and accompanied by that cold anemic few watts vape that follows. Tried the firmware juggling but no joy.

So,cutting short, this is what finally works for me and repeatable. So far tried with Ti wires in Ti mode.

Coil res is 0.28ohms. Detected as 0.28, locked, and vapes fine and warm at 450f just as it should be. After being left for a while, it shows 0.26. Unlocking and relocking will still be 0.26. Even after 'new coil same coil' it still went back to 0.26 and vapes poorly. Cranking to 550f improves a bit but does not feel the same. Seems like it needs to be at 0.28 after waking up to work properly. So I need to lock it at 0.30(+0.02)

1. Unlock
2. Fire atty briefly to raise the resistance(shows 0.36 in my example) and unscrew atty until 0.00
3. Power off device with 5 clicks
4. Power on device with 5 clicks
5. Fire device without atty(0.00) 2 or 3 times
6. Screw in/out atty until my target res (0.30) is shown as the res will keep dropping as it cools.
7. Lock it at 0.30 and answer yes to new coil.
8. Fire a few times to confirm 0.30
9. Let it sleep and when woke up, it shows 0.28!(-0.02)

From here, it works very well. I can remove the atty to refill/clean/rewick and it will always show 0.28 as well as works flawlessly.

If changing atties, as long as the res' are the same, it will work and no need to redo. If not then have to do steps 1-9 again but with the +0.02-0.03 offset for the new res.

Not sure if this will work for all the devices out there. Hope it helps

I arranged to swap one of mine next week for a Smok TreeBox 75 TC - has all the TC wires enabled out of the box (unlike the XCubes where you have to use an app and pay for them) and has, among many features, TCR adjustment and initial resistance adjustment.

Im getting a refund on the other one.

I wonder if those people in the VTC Mini giveaway thread here on ECF have bothered to check the forums....
