I wanna see this thing in action. I'm about to dip into the world of RBAs/RDAs and thought I should start with the mech mod setups, but then I read about micro-coils (my assumption is it's a lot safer in terms of rba using with a vv type mod). Now I'm excited.

I just dismantled it tonight for some cleaning, I just did some traditional wraps tonight with some 28AWG Kanthals...

The microcoil were a meh in my opinion. It turns the entire coil into one giant wrap, but it's the consistency that is the hardest.

It's very very hard to get most of the surface area between the coils to touch each other everywhere. The entire coil eventually do light up, but the vape isn't anything to be too excited about. I can't tell the difference between vaping it with micro coil or traditional.

However, from the electrical point of view, it is a bit less stressful on it. I was vaping it at about 7-8W (where I normally run my clearo), but with traditional wrapping that I did tonight, I'm vaping at about 10-11W(upper limit of the eVic).

I'll probably give the microcoil another shot tomorrow. I used to wind coils for my work, but that was a long time ago, I'm trying to remember a method I used to use to get really tight pretty coils (I used to wind air coils with magnet wires for electronic use)....

I believe I taped one end of the wire on a dowel/screwdriver shank, and used a cordless drill (it had one of those 1/4" bit to a universal chuck attachment you can get at Sears or other hardware stores) on very slow RPM (probably about 0.5Hz speed or less) and ended up with a nice clean tight wind. Will have to try that with Kanthals that I have... My only problem is, I have a cordless drill and not an electric screw driver (cordless drills were made for high RPM, electric screwdrivers were for low rpm)...

May have to revisit this technique again for the microcoil. I think maybe my feelings on it may be due to my poor workmanship on the coil...

I hope fasttech or some Chinese suppliers will sell ego T 18350 tube. My evic with 3400mah batteries is perfect, though, I still want to try it in mini mode. I don't want to buy those tiny parts which came from China, went to USA, and went back to my country, which is very near the original place.

And I'm looking forward to an authentic Evic 18350 tube, which has its brand "EVIC" on it.

Just some picks of my new Aga-T2 with some microcoil I made tonight... 2.5 Ohm, I was shooting for 2.0 Ohms, but wanted extra assurance that my eVic won't complain about a short, nice vape at 3.5V to 5.0V...

:)

I rebuilt a fresh one a few days ago at 1.8 Ohm's 5.0v and it's working great... I might try 1.4-1.6 Ohms next build and see how it works out...

HI
To tom_chang79: so, I impatiently went to a local vape shop to get myself a nimbus clone (and as insurance I got a k100 too). Overall, I spent about $80. I tried out a bunch of different coils within the week that I got it and found some really good setups.

The best micro-coil setup I've made for the eVic is a single 28g kanthal 6 wrap micro with cotton rolled wicks. It sits @ 1.2ohm and hits nicely. I simply use a small screwdriver and carefully wrap it close. After tested, I would pinch the coils together with a plier or tweezer for full contact.

I also tested a regular 3/4 wrap and it also fired away on the eVic, but gets really hot....fast. I'm impressed that the eVic can read sub-ohms. Currently vaping a .6ohm dual-coil 8 wrap micro coil on my k100 (eVic won't fire).

Moving on to a gen atty soon for the convenience of all day vaping.

Just got this new atty in from smoke-evolution (great service, btw) and I'm loving it for all-day-on-the-go usage.

It's "vapeonly BCC", hits like a champ and holds 3.5 ml. I've only tested the 2.3 ohm coil, it also comes with a 1.8 and a 2.0.

The only bummer is that I thought it be flush down the sides, so I had to pull out the old tapered top cap to make it look proper.

Got a new toy, ERA AFC top cap:

Attempted a micro coil. Rolled 0.20mm kanthal on a 1.4mm screw driver shaft, and wicked it with a cotton ball. Metered out at 2.1ohms. Here's how it looks after a day of vaping:

MicroCoilTop.jpgMicroCoilSide.jpg

Vapes pretty good! Doesn't create mushroom clouds but it had slightly more vapor than a larger, spaced out coil with similar resistance. Flavor is much better with the micro coil. All was good until I decided to re-wick. Dry burning warped the coil and I broke it while attempting to re-align the coils.

Did another coil using 0.32mm wire wrapped around a 2mm screwdriver. I reckoned 0.32mm would hold shape better being thicker. I tried coiling at 1.4mm but I kept getting less than 1.3ohms at 12 wraps. By then, it was too long to fit nicely on my atty. Settled with 2mm and got it at 1.5ohms. Here's how it looks:

Now the weird thing is that this coil takes some time to heat up. It takes about 8 or so seconds to get it glowing on a dry burn. While vaping, the first hit would draw a blank but once the coil starts heating up, this thing produces quite a bit of vapor (more than my last ones).

Still trying to figure out that one. Is it the larger mass that's slowing heat up?

Best way to get a micro to heat up is to lessen the diameter. Try using the needle head for your juice bottle (which is 1/16" I believe) w/30awg kanthal (or 28awg, whatever you prefer....just oxidize the hell out of it lol). That little baby will heat up FAST (idk about the 28awg though).

Yeah, 1.4mm is actually smaller than 1/16". I reckon that the wire was just too long on 28awg to get the resistance I want. I'm now at 30awg 10 turns metering out between 1.9 and 2.0 ohms (the eVic reads ether depending on temps). This one warms up nicely with no issues. My next coil will probably be 8 turns 30awg, hopefully hit at around 1.7ohms. I'm actually thinking about discarding this good coil to try the 8 turn. It just seems wasteful that's why I'm holding back. :D

30awg holds well to re-wicking. 32awg tends to bend/warp over time (due to the thinness I guess) and sometimes they break while trying to re-wick.

lol, I need to go back to school. Anyway, I tried wrapping a micro recently with 28awg @ 6 wraps with the needle head of the bottle. I tested it (forgot the measured ohm), connected it to the atty and fired it up. POOF! My neatly wrapped coil melted into mere squiggles. It's a good thing I did a quick pulse, that thing melted instantly.

I keep getting confused switching between Imperial and Metric. :D 28awg at 6 wraps would net me a sub ohm coil and wouldn't fire on my eVic (I've tried). Did you fire that on your eVic? :D

No, I fired it on a k100. It was a sub-ohm (mainly the only thing I've been building recently). Lately, my eVic's been on the back-burner because I've been struggling @ making my micro-coils. Constantly getting hot-legs or hot-spots.
