How do I switch the USA from Fahrenheit to Celsius?

Only the Bahamas, Belize, the Cayman Islands, Palau and the United States use Fahrenheit.

Then there is the Metric System... ahhh, the Metric System... only the United States, Liberia, and Myanmar (Burma) don't use the Metric System. Great company we have there.
Ewww! press the left or right button when in fahrenheit. press minus to get to below 200F stop and press the button again and it will switch, or go all the way to 600 and it will switch.

something like the metric system i like and it makes sense to use, but things like driving on the opposite side of the road (UK) is just plain ......ed! guess some counties just feel the need to try and be different or want to be an oddball when everyone else drives on the right :p

i do, but i don't know the coil leg length to calculate. the calculator defaults to 5mm, but i think the CLR coils legs are a lot longer than that (don't have my CLR coil yet to verify) anyone have a set of calipers and a coil to check leg length for me? :)

In Steam Engine, if you try doubling the leg length from 5mm to 10mm, you'll see it makes little to no difference in the final results. We don't need perfection for our purpose.

Not sure what's funny. Those Evod style coils have a couple wraps worth of wire in those long legs.
Probably why MFGs usually make them NR-R-NR.

exactly, the CLRs look like daddy long legs!

true, but something tells me total leg length is closer to 15mm (1-2mm just where the leg bends lol).
on the joyetech site they list: Height: 10mm, Diameter: 18mm
not sure what they mean by diameter (coil or coil head) they show it right next to the coil wire ohms CLR Head (Rebuildable) - Joyetech

i dont' really like sub ohm so i'm want to stay at least around 0.9ohm to still use temp control. according to the calculator i'll need to go with SS304 28ga @ 9 wraps to get 0.9 @ 2.5mm coil ID. just hope 9 wraps fit in the head. 30ga would bring me down under 6 wraps for 0.9ohms.. too few wraps for my liking.

guess i'll know for sure when my CLRs arrives in a couple days.

I think that's normal.

Solution would be to lock your resistance.

I just tested mine (with an atty on, and whatever heat dissipation happens through the 510).

Room temp as measured from where the VTC was resting, was 75.5F (24C). 10 clicks showed 30C (86F). It had been sitting for well over an hour without being touched (using my RX200 at the moment).

About 10F hotter than room temp.

So, we have some thermal mass, it's black (at least mine is) and would absorb radiant heat pretty well, but I would expect the temp to only be a couple degrees warmer from a flat screen monitor a few feet away (that does have a warm, metal bezel -- old Apple Cinema Display).

I bet the, say, 9 degrees F of warmth is generated from the board, even when idle, from the heartbeat it sends to the atty and other stuff, like monitoring the battery.

The way to test would be to remove the battery. Let it sit for an hour, then pop the battery in and quickly measure.

Thanks for the extensive reply!! Do you yourself have the same issue? The solution I have at the moment is to 'cheat' the device into reading a higher resistance and then locking it in order to get the supposed vaping experience :s is that normal?

Yeah, that does happen to me, too. Where I'll cheat it like that.

It's happening on the DNA200 about as much.

I've heard that one hundredth of an ohm translates to around 30 degrees F (maybe 15 degrees C). It takes very little to throw it off.

One of my attys, I had to take "micro fiberglass scratch pen" (for cleaning contacts) to the center pin before it would even think about doing TC.

I guess that's why some chip makers, like Evolv, have so much crazy stuff going on inside there with case thermal readings, etc. It seems to always be a game of catchup -- letting stuff settle down; the whole "refinement" thing these chips do.

It's one of the reasons I like SS for TC. If the TC gets fiddly, I'll just put it in wattage mode.

This info might be buried in one of the many posts in this very long thread, however, I haven't had time to read every post here.

I have noticed that some retailers are selling the 60 watt version of the eVic VTC Mini, but now I see other retailers selling the new v2 of this mod that is rated at 75 watts output.

Question: Other than having an additional 15 watts output, do you think there is anything better about the 75 watt version vs the older 60 watt version?

One other question: How well do you think the colored finish on these VTC Mini's will hold up over time?

I bought the old one from fasttech and it came with the 2.0 firmware (which was the newest back then). Might be different hardware editions but nothing major should've changed (probably just different hardware batches).

I believe that the 75 watt is updated from factory. You can get the same by updating a 60 watt version from download on joyetech.com site.

Also, from what I have read and experienced with mine, the finish holds up well.

HD

Thanks ... I asked about the finish because about every mod I have ever owned that has a colored / painted type finish ... the finish is of pretty poor quality as far as durability is concerned.

The finish is a good baked on paint. I got mine as soon as they came out. I don't abuse my mods, nor work in a hostile environment but I've used it exclusively. I have just a small amount of chipping at the bottom edges.

Like the others have said, the 60 watt and 75 watt models are pretty much identical. Any VTC Mini can have 75 watts with a firmware update. The finish seems extremely durable. I have a black and a white one and have dropped them a few times without any noticeable harm. I did put some J-wraps on them recently, but mostly because their was a BOGO sale on them and I wanted to nerd out a little. I actually prefer the stock look of the white one.
