exactly, the CLRs look like daddy long legs!
View attachment 517118

true, but something tells me total leg length is closer to 15mm (1-2mm just where the leg bends lol).
on the joyetech site they list: Height: 10mm, Diameter: 18mm
not sure what they mean by diameter (coil or coil head) they show it right next to the coil wire ohms CLR Head (Rebuildable) - Joyetech

i dont' really like sub ohm so i'm want to stay at least around 0.9ohm to still use temp control. according to the calculator i'll need to go with SS304 28ga @ 9 wraps to get 0.9 @ 2.5mm coil ID. just hope 9 wraps fit in the head. 30ga would bring me down under 6 wraps for 0.9ohms.. too few wraps for my liking.

guess i'll know for sure when my CLRs arrives in a couple days.

I'm an RTA kinda guy and routinely build with KA1 between 1 & 1.3Ω. In order to use the same build (meaning same vape) with Ni200, my current coil is sitting at 0.06Ω. It's a great vape. With regulated mods, coil resistance isn't the same concern as with mechs. Build with the same coil geometry and let the mod do the math/work for you. Also remember, the v3.0 firmware raises the resistance cap for TC to 1.5Ω. My SS 430 is still in transit, so I have no practical SS experience to share at the moment. All I can offer is Modern APVs are designed to work safely and reliably with the much lower resistance of the wire we use for TC.

ETA: we all know that TC devices read a coil with higher resistance with greater granularity. Our choices are often limited by the physical attributes of the build deck, however. With SS, Ti & NiFe wires, staying above .5Ω should be ideal. The CLR head gives us the choice of building "sub-ohm" or moving to thinner wire. If these options are not acceptable to you, your only choices are to get a different atomizer or stick with KA1 and skip TC.

This info might be buried in one of the many posts in this very long thread, however, I haven't had time to read every post here.
I have noticed that some retailers are selling the 60 watt version of the eVic VTC Mini, but now I see other retailers selling the new v2 of this mod that is rated at 75 watts output.
Question: Other than having an additional 15 watts output, do you think there is anything better about the 75 watt version vs the older 60 watt version?

pretty sure there is no diff between models of the VTC yet

ver2 firmware update; announced the new TRON tank; and add some colors...

Correct. PBusardo, covered this in his review. You can check your installed firmware, and in the upgrade app, can see hardware revisions. These indicate that some different new internal part was used, substituted, or modified, mostly useful to the manufacturer to be able to identify the products internals for troubleshooting. Buy any VTC Mini, and just update to 3.0, and your good to go!

Question concerning people with poor eyesight using the VTC Mini ....

I stumbled on a review that said the following: "If you prefer larger letters (in the display) there is an alternate firmware version which changes the display. It eliminates a lot of the information like amp draw and puff time, but simplifies it for people with vision problems. This is a useful function that is not found in the manual".

My question is: Does anyone here have any idea as to what this "alternate firmware version" is, and where to download it? I can't find anything on the Joyetech website.

Thanks,

We have three screen display variations now.

1.3... the last "original" configuration.
2.0... concurrent with 1.3 update, but with a redesigned layout.
3.0... the newest re-redesigned layout

Each highlights different display elements, though only 3.0 includes the new TCR Adjust.
Perhaps someone will post examples side-by-side.

the puff counter is only visible if it's selected otherwise it will show the amps/power.. what is there left to see if you remove those things?

......Maybe they will be more helpful in person.

This maybe long but a little update for those interested...

So I contacted the shop via email again, and told them that it is unfortunate that their stance seemed to not want to help(paraphrase a better worded email). They responded and told me they updated their display device to v3.0 and to bring mine in so they could take a look at it.

The guy who helped me set it up when I bought it is the one who has been responding to me. He said he would not be back in the store til monday, but if I wanted to bring it sooner someone there would help me. He personally wants to get to the bottom of it. Being unure if I would be able to go to the store on Monday, I opted to bring it in this Thursday.

I brought it in and they hooked up my device and the program did not find it and their windows pc said unrecognized device. I told them to hook up their device and sure enough the program found it without a hitch. Now the owner was not there (Christmas Eve) so the guy who helped me was unsure what the owner would want him to do. He said if it was my shop I know what I would do (I assume he ment replace the device with a brand new one), but then he suggested we exchange my device for their display model. I said ok, but really I was wondering how used was it and if any problems may arise from excepting a display device.

So as the guy was about to check the firmware version of the display device, he put a battery into it and the screen was dead. So somewhere between unhooking the device from the pc and back to the display the device died, no display nor will their device fire. Then he was going to exchange my vtc for a new unopened one but they had none in stock. Now I need to go back in Monday to talk to my email contact, to find out the next step and if and when they might get more in stock.

During all this I emailed Kermit from Joytech as suggested in a previous post (thank you for providing that information by the way) and Kermit has been super helpful and has answered all of my questions, quickly I might add. Kermit informed me that the vtc is covered under the 90 day warranty and the shop should handle the warranty of the vtc and if the shop does not help me out they(Joytech) will. Excellent customer sevice!

This is a totally OCD issue, nothing to do with the functionality of the included Tron tank, which is still vaping strong with the little Titanium premade coil, up to 8 tank refills now. In my earlier first impression post I mentioned how the included different colored silicone dress up rings for the top of the tank, just roll off when rubbed against anything, or while filling or cleaning. On my all red model, that black accent on the top, does make the tank look nicer IMO. SOLUTION: A fine tip black Sharpie permanent marker.
