joyetech, please also add TCR settings for v1 and v2 firmware versions. Personally I like the display arrangement of v2 best.

joyetech, how about a separate maxed out 40W / 0.4Ohm firmware version, so we can safely use 3500mAh / 10A batteries w/o having to mind pushing wrong buttons.

Joyetech, since this device is so popular by everyone how about some itty bitty editions for the flavor chasers:

eVic-VTC Micro 40W 18500
eVic-VTC Nano 25W 18350

Ummm, maybe this is your parent's place, but... JoyeTech =/= Santa.

:p

My question is: Does anyone here have any idea as to what this "alternate firmware version" is, and where to download it? I can't find anything on the Joyetech website. Thanks,

Take a minute to review recent previous posts in this thread for a link to the download site. Here's a visual comparison between firmware 2.0 (left) and 3.0 (right):

Bought mine a little over a month ago when Efun was running that pre- Black Friday deal. Lasted about 2 weeks before the screen starting blanking out. At first turning the device on and off would bring it back for a short period of time, but now it won't come on at all and even randomly goes into a constant firing mode if left alone on my desk (i had to pull the battery to get it to stop. Obviously haven't used it since).

Anyway, skimmed what i could to try and get an answer, but the thread is pretty long. Has anybody actually had a successful experience going the warranty route through Joytech, or is this one of those I'm SOL china CS scenarios regardless what it states on paper ? Going on over a week here with no reply to both my inquiries (one through their site, the other an email). Not finding the random google search on the subject all that encouraging either.

Possible but highly unlikely.

Updating my Tron tank review, like the small size of this tank, one "feature", that I'm enjoying so far is it MAY be somewhat LEAKPROOF. I keep laying it down horizontally, vaping it empty, two things that often cause leaks with my subtank minis. This design seems very good so far in that regard.

However, as I guess can be anticipated, the tiny coils will lose flavor faster then any larger tank with larger coils, those usually have more cotton. I've gotten a decent amount of tank refills but am now noticing a flavor drop off. If you want to test this accurately, use the same juice, same settings, and use two different tanks. My Morph tank with a premade delta2 titanium coil, with about the same amount of tanks run through it, has more flavor the the tiny Tron tank coils, all variables being the same, which makes sense.

I can't use the CL coils in these eGo tanks. The CLR coils are night and day better. Haven't tried the Tron tanks yet but I use a pair of eGo One Megas for my menthol and some fruit ejuices. I throw in a SS coil for TC vaping and twisted 28 gauge kanthal for watt mode. I find that twisted kanthal beats out twisted stainless for flavor and comfort (twisted stainless gets a little hot for me). One coil build lasts me about 3-4 weeks with one or two wick changes a week. I haven't been able to kill a CLR head at all. The first CLR head that I opened is still going strong more than 3 month later. No leaking either. If you haven't tried the rebuildable heads you may want to give them a shot.

I wanted to order another VTC Mini with the Tron but I decided to give the Presa 75W TC a shot. I really hope they offer the adjustable TCR feature with the next Presa firmware. I love using it with the VTC.

1) I would think you can just set it for 40W if you want to use a 10a battery without issues or trying to make it a manufacturers issue to keep you from pushing the wrong button.
2) The board inside an Evic is much larger than an 18350. I do not believe they can provide the same functionality in this format.

During all this I emailed Kermit from Joytech as suggested in a previous post (thank you for providing that information by the way) and Kermit has been super helpful and has answered all of my questions, quickly I might add. Kermit informed me that the vtc is covered under the 90 day warranty and the shop should handle the warranty of the vtc and if the shop does not help me out they(Joytech) will. Excellent customer sevice!
Kermit has helped me in the past and he is by & large responsive, refreshing in dealing with the company. Glad he was helpful to you as well.

Whoa!!! Oh hell yeah! Thanks for the outstanding post Zepp. I definitely hadn't seen that video. I'm so much happier that I ordered a Presa now. The layout and adjustable TCR features of the VTC are so much nicer than the Presa but the form factor makes it too tempting to pass up. Hopefully putting the two together will make the Presa a winner.

It would be nice of a few English reviewers would demonstrate this. I never watch German reviewers, even though they're probably excellent. I'd need subtitles. :tumble:

2.0 layout is way better imo. wonder if there is a way to get it back? one of my peeves is trying to fix something that isn't broke.

Everyone's a critic. It's just evolution basically.

I have no gripes with the new 3.0 layout, and I believe there are currently no restrictions with re-flashing older firmware.

Ordered a 5 pack of titanium CLR heads a week a go, should arrive today. When they fade, I'll rewire them with my own Ti wire, next best thing to having a real RBA option on these inexpensive tanks.

I'll be glad to report back. Looks like it should work just fine going by the video. I'm really glad you decided to post it. I don't get to spend as much time as other people tracking down info. That's why I really appreciate helpful people who post useful info for the community. I would've ordered it weeks ago if I had run across it. Oh well. Still have a few SS coils to test out before it gets here.

does the screen come with one of those temporary protective film installed?
my vtc mini/tron arrived today and despite being "new" and sealed in the box, it had some sticky gooey residue (which i was able to cleaned off) but the screen has a few small micro scratches and thought it might of been just a film but doesn't appear to be any. just didn't want to try scratching the screen (more) to peel off a film it doesn't have.. looks like Joyetech needs to do some quality control.
