does the screen come with one of those temporary protective film installed?
my vtc mini/tron arrived today and despite being "new" and sealed in the box, it had some sticky gooey residue (which i was able to cleaned off) but the screen has a few small micro scratches and thought it might of been just a film but doesn't appear to be any. just didn't want to try scratching the screen (more) to peel off a film it doesn't have.. looks like joyetech needs to do some quality control.

Yeah, it's a very hard to see protective, matte film. It seems to be of better quality than a temp protector. I think the intent was to not have it be removed.

But the micro scratches bugged me, too, so I removed mine and don't have any regrets, but some are.

It's tricky to get a corner up

Once removed, those micro scratches you're seeing on the film will be gone. Mine was perfect underneath, but I thought there was one post a ways back that implied theirs wasn't.

The cons are:

The perfectly flush feel is gone. There will be micro ridges, as the protector is surprisingly thick.

The protector is more anti-glare and matte than the screen underneath. It also helps diminish a little bit of light bleed on the screen edges.

The brightness increase is minimal.

Pros:

No micro scratches underneath (at least on mine, it was flawless).

It seems to sharpen it and make those crisp lines pop a bit more. The screen protector is slightly diffuse.

ah that explains it, i knew it had to have a film because it looked too matte (hazy) they certainly did a good job putting it on there as it's perfectly aligned.

i normally hate screen protectors on my phones, on modern phones the screen are glass so very hard to scratch. perhaps i will keep the "protector" on the mini to avoid scratching it, atleast until the "new factor" wears off ;-) wish the screen were gorilla glass lol..

it's cool that they are including these new colored "fashionable" rubber rings on the Tron tank, but they are poorly designed. the rubber rings need to be a lot smaller/tighter to keep them from sliding off.

Can somebody with more expensive device like SX mini or rDNA40 or DNA200 say does Evic-mini has now, after firmware 3.0 competitive TC vape experience or I still have to buy 200$ device if I want perfect TC vape. It seems to me that firmware 3.0 is pretty good and Evic works now great.

I have the Reuleaux DNA200, rx200, and a couple VTC Mini's and if I could go back in time I would not have gotten the DNA version and just get a few more rx and/or VTC's for the same price. To me, the extra cost for the DNA wa not worth it. I'm not saying it's not a better device, just not worth the extra cost in my opinion. I really can't compare as far as durability goes simply because I haven't had them long enough.

Now that the Evic-Vt-Mini has multiple user settable TCR memories there is little to not like about it other than possibly how smooth and well it regulates temperature.

While I don't own one as of yet, the included feature set for a single 18650 mod I think is the best deal in vaping at the moment.

I think this may have already been mentioned, but I am having issues with low ohm builds with stainless steel temp control. The evic just does not seem to handle it very well. I have a .16 304 stainless steel build and it is very enemic in temp control with the the proper TCR. Building at .35 ohms with the same wire, and it works fantastically. Unless there is a firmware upgrade, it will be very hard for it to work with dual coil lower gauge stainless.

I don't use dual coil SS builds, but I've also had stable (repeatable) results with higher ohm SS coils in TC mode. I try to keep my builds above .4 ohms. That said, I'm sure many people have had success using much lower ohm coils on the VTC Mini. Is your .16Ω build a contact or spaced coil? I ask because contact coils can be fickle.

Because of stainless steel's lower TCR, we have to keep the resistance of the build up in order to increase the granularity of control. Targeting 0.5Ω is ideal.

i would leave the film, hell, it's free protection from scratching your real screen. I wouldn't care if the screen were scratched either. im OVER those days of giving a S whether my mod is free from scratches or not. i'm free from the heartache of not having a perfect PV. F that. I'm a man, and I dont NEED perfection to be happy, be realistic and realize that paint scratches & chips, so does glass. get over it. I'll never STOP using a mod due-to a scratch again. lol. I remember back when I was in my teens, my Silver Bullet dropped (I actually purposely dropped it, go-figure) and, it got a scratch. I basically stopped using it all together after it got that scratch. never again will i do that w/ a new mod. hell no. a scratch is a scratch, it's personal to ME, it's character for a mod. Now if it came from the factory scratched.. I might b a little PO'd

After some drunken escapades, I had noticed my evic screen was scratched to high Hell and was really bummed about it and while i was poking at the scratches I managed to discover it had the protector so I peeled it off and was immediately relieved that the gouged weren't actually in the glass
