I agree that .4 to .5 is ideal for TC on the mini with SS (around .2 for Ni200 and .4 for Ti).
In my opinion, only my opinion, I don't think TC was originally meant to be used in multiple coil setups. I would never tell anyone how to vape, to each their own, but multiple coil's can introduce so many more variables into the TC equation as to cause issues with accuracy.

Agreed wholeheartedly. When the original TC concept was brought to market in the DNA40, I believe EVOLV was targeting single coil RTAs & RDAs. I also believe this was made evident by it being "only 40 watts". I can't believe anyone was thinking that those insisting on 24awg multi-coils would WANT to vape TC.

Why wouldn't those people want to vape TC? Using TC does not mean you get less vapor. It only means you limit the temperature.

If you can find your a vape you like on your preferred SS build, it will be insanely consistent. I would try building duals with twisted 30. It may surprise you.

I haven't done a dual twisted 30g SS build but I have a single twisted 316L 30 gauge (or maybe it's 28 gauge I can't remember) SS coil in my tank and it's working great in TC with the 3.0 firmware. The coil came out to .55 ohms. It works well using the SS316 setting, but it's a little hot. The standard 0092 TCR for 316L runs too cool. You have to crank up the temp about 200º higher to get similar vapor to the normal SS316 setting (with the twisted coil). It's much better with a higher TCR. I like the TCR set to 0120, which runs cooler than the default SS316 setting, but not too cool.

EVOLV, from the very beginning, strongly recommended not using multi-coil builds, as they introduce much more complexity and points of failure. I keep all but one of my attys built with single coils. My Velocity clone gets a twisted 28 KA1, dual build @ .35Ω, mostly for use on the Nemesis. With today's regulated devices, I can push more power to a single coil and out-perform the dual build in every metric and flavor is excellent. Why would I complicate matters far more than they need to be?

I understand vapers with a large collection of multi-coil attys not wanting to relegate 75% (or more) of their hardware to the shelf. I get it. But TC changes everything and we need to think differently to get the most out of it. Resistance based TC is highly imperfect for our implementation anyway. Maybe the next technology will be easier all around. Perhaps none of our current hardware will work at all with the tech introduced next year.

We need to meet the needs of the 70% of us who vape not to smoke. The 30% of vapers doing it for sport can spend the time and money necessary for their endeavors. Perhaps the relationship between current TC and voluminous vapers is the same as governors and top fuel dragsters.

Just my :2c:.

Well said. While I'm tempted now and then to go dual, I hit my mods, and get more vapor then I can inhale, and the temptation goes away.

I have been using temp control for a few months now. My primary reason for using it is that it delivers a more consistent vape every time I use it. With that said, I do not want to compromise on my preferred way to vape. I enjoy the vapor production I get using lower gauge dual coils. I had previously been using a ipv3li and 24 gauge dual titanium coils coming out to .13 ohms which the ipv3li handled well. I would like to replicate that with stainless steel and the evic mini. is that possible?

By inputting a modified TCR for your wire, setup and resistance designed to maintain the coil heat flux for duals, it should be possible, however a lot of trial & error may be necessary to determine the proper setting to use.

One of the guys here that are so familiar with the math and theory behind it all might be able to set up a generic equation to adjust the TCR setting of the Evic for Duals but that is beyond me. Be great if they do figure it out if they could send it over to Steam engine to create a wizard for it.

Using TC does not mean you get less vapor. It only means you limit the temperature.

If you watch and read the interviews with reps from Evolv, TC was originally developed to address safety concerns. To keep from heating the components we vape with to the point of releasing any nasties.
With that in mind, anything that negatively impacts the accuracy of the TC would go against the original intent.
Now I'm not saying multiple coils can't be done, or done safely, but we have to bear in mind that the broad spectrum of vapers had to be considered when TC was developed.
We have extremely intelligent, educated vapers right on down to those that haven't the slightest inkling about ohm's law and whose thought process goes no further than "check out this .00001 coil I made to use with this watch battery I pulled out of my Krusty the Clown watch".

Exactly

I, apart from the last 2.5 weeks using/testing the prebuilt clapton in my TFV4 Mini, never use vw anymore. As for all those who equate tc with less vapor, thats a piece of bs. I actually get a better vape out of my TFV4 with a diy 7 wrap 0.5o SS coil in the RCA at 210c (around 26w when firing), than i ever got with the clapton in there at 35w. Recently at a cloud comp here we had our first tc using entrant who came narrowly second....so theres that

Usually its the mad watters spouting "tc means less clouds".

Me im into tc for the consistency, i press the button and its the same vape every time. Makes my days as a newbie changing the watts up and down and fiddling look archaic.

Ok, no one said that using TC equates to less vapor. Aldenf and Mactavash simply stated that they could get an equally satisfying experience with a single coil as they could with a multiple coil setup. I agree, but in the end what is satisfying is subjective.
I can't even count the blank stares I've gotten at local B&M's when I exhale a cloud rivaling their sub-ohm octo-coil with a simple single kanthal micro coil in a Igo-W, or a single SS coil in a Vape Jam RDA in TC mode.
Now admittedly I've only done this at times to prove a point, lol (ain't I a stinker?).
I, personally, could care less about clouds. I am a "flavor chaser", and its all about smoking cessation for me (even though the hobbyist in me takes over occasionally). Shinyitis can be a b!@*h at times!

I was just replying to the quoted BigEgo post, and well its a oft spouted theory around the traps that "tc equals less clouds"

Like i posted, im far happier and getting better vapor now that ive ripped out the prebuilt kanthal clapton in the TFV4 Min, and whacked in my normal tc SS build, and as ive posted elsewhere when i got the TFV4 Mini, my loal b&m were giving away a bonus single and dual deck RBA's for it, I can garauntee ill never use the dual deck, its spares for whoever does that stuff and needs one. Personally i dont need the extra work and maintenance of building dual coil decks. Im like you , im more about flavour and consistency, any clouds are a bonus.

I agree, the consistency and flavor are great.
It is often stated that TC produces less vapor, but it's pure conjecture or they haven't managed to find a properly working TC build yet.
You can send the unused decks to me, I always like to experiment! Lol.

So far so good - one happy camper.

    - Picked up a VT-Mini at a local B&M last weekend, upgraded it to 3.0 firmware, plugged in TCR for NiFe48/52 and SS430, mounted cold tank with NiFe build (0.3ohm), locked resistance and have been enjoying it ever since.

I just plug it into the USB charge cord at my desk and it is ready to go until the next day when I'll plug it back in. A bit larger than a TC40 but a bunch lighter than a SXminiM, fits in pocket well. Three custom TCR values is a killer feature. (specially at this price point)

Now if I can only figure out what to do with the 'tron' tank? Is there a RBA for this thing or do we have to disassemble the three coils they give us and rebuild with something we want?

No, RBA section for it, but they make CLR coils for it that are specifically designed to be rebuilt. Some have stated that it is difficult to disassemble the stock heads without destroying them.

You can find 5 packs of the ego one clr ( r for rebuildable) coils for 10-12 dollars. They have bigger juice holes, which is a plus.

If you PM your details, the dual TFV4/TFV4 Mini deck is yours. Its relatively cheap to send from Oz to the US, just not the other way around, apparently...3 times the cost...why i never buy from US vendors :)

Never realized that shipping to AU was that lopsided like that. Very strange.

Yup, i remember, for instance, the first and only time i ordered my nic from the US....

    SALE-UNFLAVORED-NIC-1LITER-100MG 1 $50.00
    Subtotal $50.00
    Shipping & Handling $31.55 <-----
    Grand Total (Excl.Tax) $81.55
    Tax $0.00
    Grand Total (Incl.Tax) $81.55

Converted, that USD$81.55 was AUD$115 for 1 Litre of 100mg nic...now you know why aussies tend to wait and hammer US nic suppliers when theres specials on

Lol, the best postage experience was way back when my DNA40 mod died and i had to get a replacement board, it cost me $7 to send the board to Evolv, who mailed the replacement board back free.

If you want, you can throw some of your homemade liquids (never vaped liquid from another country :w00t:) in there along with some Aussie sunshine! Lol.
It's freezing here and we are having some of the worst flooding we've ever had, as well as tornados. Numerous death's and lots of damage. Such a shame.
I wonder if shipping from Canada is any cheaper? I have relatives on the border that could send parcels from there for me and maybe same you some coin.
