You know what I did burn my leg one time and put a hole in my pants. IDK if any of you will remember the GGTS, it was a mech that you could stack batteries in and it had a nut on the fire button which was on the side of the mod that you tightened to keep it from firing. I forgot to tighten it. Fired that old 510 dripping atty till it burned me.

Ouch! Yup, the GGTS aka EA Mod, KTS Mod, etc? I had the KTS clone...

A bet that this has been asked A LOT, but this thread is getting kinda long...
So any fixes besides "remove your atty, reattach while pressing the button read as new" to make this thing actually work longer than first couple of drags in TC with Ti?
Been trying to get my .2 Ti heads for Super tank work.
Reads the head fine and works perfectly after this, but when you set the device down for some time and when wanting to take a drag temperature control kicks in claiming temp of 200+C for a cool atomizer.
Can't be a TCR-issue since the device worked fine the first time.
This issue happens EVERY time, no matter wether you have attylock on or not.

No, these ARE Tobeco's own, came in genuine pack.
That asides the problem is still same, it is as if the device wouldn't reset the tempcount back to room temperature which I assume is something to do with the chip.
Perhaps if you provided a link to them?

The symptoms you describe used to be a common complaint with the VTC mini. Thought most of those issues were ironed out with software upgrade that came w/ the TCR settings. Perhaps people are just adjusting the symptoms away with the TCR?

Now you mention it I only found em with a quick Google-Fu from my local finnish vendor, but they SEEM legit.
As far as adjusting ones TCR goes I fail to see how it could be of use since, like I posted, I don't have issues with these right after I get the mod to read em as a new coil, the issues start after having vaped em and letting my mod stand idle for a moment.
Also since the issues goes away by making the mod register them as a new coil I fail to see tweaking TCR value as an solution.
In the end doesn't really matter that much, not fan of TC-thingies and as a vw-device this is an excellent device.

Mine has been good for the last couple of upgrades.
I too remember the temp staying too high back then. A real pisser.

The point is... they're Stainless, not Titanium.
That will throw the temp calculation off all to hell, and possibly force it to kick out.
Use SS TC mode and tell us what happens.

You might want to double-check things. As far as I can tell, Tobeco only makes Kanthal (maybe NiCr?) and Ni200 coils for the Super Tank. The coil heads are Atlantis/Triton compatible, so you may have heads from a different manufacturer. Good luck!

Tobeco authentic super tank with 0.2ohm 0.5ohm coil,Tobeco authentic products, shenzhen tobeco

Super Tank Coils (5 Pack)

I'm not sure why I never bought an ST, but... I seem to recall a selling point was that they used SS wire... even before the Crown I believe.
If I'm remembering it right... they're SS, not Kanthal or NiCr.

Thanks for this, Jim. Wouldn't it be nice if vendors and the manufacturers listed this kind of thing?

Any Joyetech employees or associated people lurking here?

My current VTC Mini has a stuck 510 pin (plus the slightly wobbly and short 510 well) so I'm resigned to using it with specific atties that work okay despite those shortcomings.

Still I like the design and the continued firmware support enough to want more...

1) Have there been any manufacturing changes to address the 510 issues (*) in more recent hardware revisions? If yes, how to recognize the fixed revision(s), or if no, are there plans to address the 510 issues?

2) Any plans for a VTC Mini in stainless steel finish (buttons too, thankyouverymuch), similar to the finish in the SS Cuboid?

(*) the 510 connector is the single most common point of failure in mods so ideally that part would also be user serviceable or replaceable.

  • Doubt you will find many Joyetech Employees lurking here and if they were there would be little they could say due to ECF Rules & Protocols.
  • You might have better luck on the Joyetech Social Forum on their website and Tagging or PMing Kermit Li the Joyetech Marketer that moderates the Social Site there. He is the only Joyetech Employee who ever responded to me from their company in any meaningful way during multiple attempts in past. Joyetech Social
  • If your 510 Pin is stuck, you can try using a small amount of water or unflavored polypropylene Glycol to clean it and work it up & down a few times and it should free up. I have successfully used WD40 myself and blew it off afterward w/ canned air, but this practice is frowned upon.
  • Heard rumors of a SS finish in works but that was only rumor AIK. I would have thought they would have released a SS version with the New Cubis kits They are hawking now but it is not in the colorway chart.

The amp readout is useful even though you can't see it while your taking a puff. Press the fire button without taking a puff and note the max amps displayed. Assuming it's accurate compare that value with the amps rating of the battery you are using. Steamengine predicts my setup should draw 5 amps. The readout on the mini says 4.5 amps. They aren't identical but close enought to tell me I'm drawing far below the 20 amp rating of the battery and since i'm in temp control that amp level drops off in a fraction of a second. Battery safety.
What is displayed is the amps at the output side. That tells us absolutely nothing about the amp draw at the battery side. The latter is what we need.

i've had my vtc for a couple of months now. love it, but the 510 sucks. my atty's are starting to wobble even when tight. this sucks. if they beefed up the 510, this would be a damn near perfect mod.
My VTC Mini threads look like they have a couple tiny dings in them.. Brand New...
Not stripped, just odd..
