I think the crown has no res legs and just the coil is SS. At least I read that somewhere, so this is the reason why TC does not work that well with these coils.
vaping Uwell.25 stock coil now using TC. vaping at 45 watts at 430-500 f depending on the juice. Did you lock the coil resistance? Or have the mod on ss setting?

I have no problems. Great flavor and clouds

Made a new ti coil, 28 gauge twisted at 0.32 ohms. It hits on 160 like it did on 270 with the last coil. Warm vape at 160, i didn't expect that. Went to sleep, 0.27 ohms. Vape is crap.
Bah

EDIT:
After this, updated firmware from first version to last. Locked the now 0.27 resistance (it did not read 0.32 anymore). Now its good at 240. Will see what happens when it goes to sleep.

Sounds like coil refining to me, I still get a small resistance drop on a new build after a few hours more so with twisted or claptons. When it's settled it stays rock solid and just needs a temp bump. Bearing in mind the vtc is underpowered in ti mode I find myself using higher temps than with other mods, regular coils around 250°c, claptons about 280°c.

I don't have an evic vt mini but the issues you mention here sound a lot like a faulty ground connection to the 510 inside the mod. Maybe someone can check.

I stripped mine down to check just that and whilst the ground soldering looked a little messy on the bottom of the 510 connection I decided to leave alone till I'd updated when version 1.20 was first released. I'd been running it hot in power mode for a few weeks previous as I'd given up on Ti mode and lo and behold the update fixed it, or was it the heat from the dripper or me taking it apart. I will never know but I hope the second one I've ordered doesn't have issues or I will be less than pleased ;)

Just updated to v2.0 and using SS mode with my 0.5 ohm Crown coil. Played around with the settings but can't get the sweet tasting vape I'm used to. Anybody with similar setup care to share their SS mode setting?

I agree about needing to make sure that the resistance is locked for it to work. I don't have a standard coil in my Crown head. It's a rebuilt head with a 316 SS coil but it's been working well in TC mode. The prebuilt SS coils all have welded legs. I don't know if that makes temp control problematic, but a lot of people seem to be having good luck getting them to work. I'm liking it at 30w and about 380-400° for a cool vape.

i have evic vt, and vtc mini, and never lock the resistance anymore..doesn't make any difference ( for me ). It sometimes shows resistance 0.01 higher, but as soon as i press fire button it jumps back to right resistance. If i put a hot atty on it just asks new coil, same coil, and back to normal..i was actually wondering why it exists at al..

Resistance lock mostly exists so that you don't have to see same coil old coil message. It will always assume you using the same coil since you locked in the base resistance.

Built a dual coil SS on my Goblin Mini coming to exactly 0.25 ohm and I'm happy to report that SS mode works flawlessly on fw 2.0v. I'm getting rich warm vape without ever worrying about getting the cotton burnt. I'm guessing I didn't get a good result from the pre-built 0.5 ohm dual coil Crown because the end of the coils were soldered together using non SS material. I bet it'll work fine with the Crown's RBA as well.

So I guess Crown doesn't expect people to use their SS coils in temp mode on a mod that supports it?

I'm thinking not since they clearly advertise their Ni200 coils as intended for TC. Otherwise they would have stated that all of their coils support TC. SS TC is relatively new compared to Ni and Ti.

Upgradeable firmware is a killer feature, and it seems like Joyetech isn't just giving lip service to that capability. I'm not likely to buy another mod without it.

The (new) Presa TC75W also has upgradeable firmware...

Presa TC75W - Wismec Electronics Co.,Ltd

Ok, I'm new to vaping - I want to try a temp control device (I dont like cool vapor), so I am looking into all this (and a bit -ok a lot- confused).

I've only bought one tank so far the nautilus mini.

Shameless...in my opinion...as a new vaper...you're making things WAY MORE complicated than they have to be...thinking about TC, Nickle, SS, coil building, etc.

I've been vaping for 2 years and with my Nauty's (Kanthal BVC coils) on my VTC Mini and Cloupor 50W (just because a Mod has TC...it doesn't mean I have to use TC)...in the VW mode...I get the perfect "cigarette experience"...Throat Hit, Heat and appropriate amount of "smoke".

My suggestion...get a $29 Mod...stick your Nauty (with BVC coil) on it...put it in VW mode...start at 7Watts...and move it up in Watts until you get the "heat" you want.

In a couple months (after you've forgotten all about smoking with your "perfect" vape)...then you can start playing around with TC, coil building, etc.

Joyetech eVic VTC Mini Box Mod - $28.89

Cloupor Mini Plus 50W TC APV Box Mod - $28.99

Just sayin'...

Wismec hasn't said they will support SS wire or i would be on it, and have you ever ordered from Efun, are they trust worthy?

You guys think they tweaked anything hardware-wize in the newer mod version, or just the updated software? The mod itself, not the atty.
I would be very, very surprised if this is anything but the same VTC Mini shipping with 2.0 firmware.

EDIT: However, at least you know these devices are (probably?) manufactured more recently, so maybe it wont have the TC issue. Just theorizing here.

DOUBLE EDIT: To make sure it's new, get one of the new colors! :)

It looks like the mod colors will match the tank colors much better. The original black and white mods didn't match the tanks. Personally, I really like the tank from the kit. The rebuildable heads work flawlessly in temp mode on the VTC if you use a stainless steel coil. They're also the easiest RBA heads to rewick that I've ever used.
