I received my first Evod yesterday. It started out great; very smooth and decent vapor production. But by the time I got through my first tank, it started gurgling. It then got worse, to the point that there was liquid on top of the battery connection. I am vaping a mix of 70PG/30VG. I have read where some are having this problem but most are not. For those that are having this problem, it seems to be worse when vaping a thinner mix such as I am.

Tonight I decided to investigate the source of the gurgling. So I removed the tank, center post, and silicon cover. When I inspected the coil, I noticed that the wraps were not very even, and there was a big gap in the middle. It had about 3 coils on either side, with about a 1/16" gap in the center with nothing but wick. The wick was still wet and there was an accumulation of juice in the gap area, and a drop forming on the bottom. I'm not sure if it was designed this way but it looked to me like it just wasn't very neatly wound. So I took a small eyeglass screwdriver and rearranged the coils so that they were pretty even.

So far so good, no more gurgling and this thing is vaping like a champ. If you are having this problem, it's worth taking a look. Easy fix if it holds up.

As a follow up... This fix improved this issue but I now have 4 of these in circulation and a few of them were still leaking a little. I have started replacing the flavor wicks with a solid cotton square braid wick. I am cutting them long enough to eliminate any possibility of leaking due to insufficient sealing from the wick. So far I am very happy with the results. Great vapor production and flavor. Smooth draw and zero leaking or gurgling.

Hey Dvx. I have the same problem. It starts out fine but after about 2/3 of a tank it starts to gurgle. I usually take the EVOD off and then clean the battery top and clear out the tube with a q-tip. I'd rebuild it but I'm recovering from a stroke and I don't have any fine motor skills in my right hand. It's good to see this info though. Hopefully when I fully recover I'll be able to do what you did. Thanks.

Like Danny said. Remove clean battery and then you can blow through the battery end of the EVOD holding a TISSUE on the mouthpiece end for the liquid that comes out. Twist some tissue into a point to clean out the inner mouthpiece.

Usually happens when the liquid is low or once one of the wicks is exposed. Think it has to do with losing its vacuum or whatever...

There is a thread on ECF that shows how to rewick a T3 cart that is essentially the same as the EVOD. I just did one of my EVODs with cheesecloth wick and it worked very well. You'll also learn how to make a coil as well. Really easy to do. However I think Kanger should redesign these. All of mine leak, rewicking makes them leak alot less but they still do a little. I have 4 ViVi Mini's and none of those leak. Hope this is helpful!

Does it look anything like this?

Page 6 has a better coil style...

Or, if you're vaping on a vv, take up the volts a notch. You can also put some silica or cotton on your coil to prevent from flooding.
