I got my first EVOD the other day, fired it up, and am loving it. Most of the time. At times the vapor is anemic to nonexistent. Most of the time it's got great smoke, good taste, and in general is everything I hoped for. The Vapor Chef Cool Strawberry juice is even good with no steeping. It's full of juice, the battery is working and lit when I press the button. My first hit it worked great. This is all with no changes to anything since that first hit. I haven't screwed, added, unscrewed, taken out, anything. It wasn't dropped or even handled roughly. It seems completely random when it will work and when it won't, although I'm sure it is not. I have 6ml nicotine and the ratio is 50/50. Everything is brand new. Is this just life in vape world? I haven't smoked a real cig since I got it, so it is working great on that level.

Any clues?

Thanks

I've found sometimes I forget I'm vaping and not smoking, and my inhale technique affects the amount of vapor. Remember to draw in slowly when you inhale.

I was so used to all those years of "gotta hurry up and smoke this cigarette!" Sometimes I still draw in quick and hard like smoking and then there's not much vapor no matter what I'm using.

When the battery life starts to get low on my evods what you describe is what happens. And occasionally it happens when I first start vaping it, it has to warm up the juice. It might also be a sign your coil is starting to get used up or is not connecting well with the battery. So...I charge mine before the light tells me it's dead. I test to see that the tank is firmly (but not super tight) attached. I look at the coil to be sure it has not become loose and/or the wick hasn't gotten really dark. It isn't really life in the vape world, it just takes a little getting used to your equipment so you can understand what needs to be tinkered with. It becomes routine. Happy vaping!

Try and told it up to your ear and listen to see if it is firing. If it does not fire every time then there is a problem. It could be a number of things. Sometimes the contact between the battery and evod might be loose. In that case I try and pull the center pin in the evod to make better contact with the battery.
There might also be a short in then evod coil. Do you have another evod or other topper you can try on your battery?

Perhaps it's just not wicking well. If you take a lot of quick draws right in a row, you can deplete the juice that has wicked to the coil, before the wick has time to draw in more liquid. Thicker juice may also take time to wick. Try drawing without firing...draw without pressing the button. That helps to suck more juice to the coil.

Another possibility is that the coil has just gunked up and needs to be cleaned or replaced. Lot's of youtube videos to help with cleaning.

Thanks for the suggestions. It was not firing during the times it wasn't working and it seems to be a battery/tank connection problem. A little fidgeting with the connection gets it going again. I also discovered that there is a very tiny bit of juice that gets on the top of the battery where it connects. It doesn't actually seem to mind this, but I'm sure it isn't optimal. I haven't even touched the second EVOD that came in the kit and I've got a ProTank Mini in the mail, so I can play around with things this weekend.

Thanks again!

OK. Well said. :)

Evods (THE evod, by Kanger) is a slippery little critter. I would say more often than not they won't fire on most of my devices.

They work 100% out of the box on my iTasteVV and Spinner. They never work on my bigger mods.... well, maybe 1/10...

i just simi retired my evods after getting a nemesis and kraken clone combo. When vaping liquid as thick as 50/50 i had to open up the coil and remove the 2 small flavor wicks to help it keep up with my chain vaping. Also sweet juices gunk up the coils really quickly. i had to dry burn mine every couple days to keep them working well when using nicotickets fruity stuff. i eventually switched to cotton for wicks and they worked and tasted much nicer. Oh and 2.5 ohm coils suck in an evod. stick to 1.8 or 2.2. my 2 cents.
