Those are the older long heads; the ones you have now should be that same size if you look at the blister pack. The new heads I purchased that came in a black box like that are much shorter.

Ah yes you're right. As stated on DiscountVapers:

"Kanger has moved to one coil head for both the evod and the protank, it is the protank coil (longer tube) now being used, they are no longer making the shorter evod coil. This coil will fit in your eVod.
You will be receiving the longer stem coils."

Well that's unfortunate...does that mean my coils (pictured below) are knock-offs, despite getting them from a reputable vendor?

I got 2 Kanger Evods & some heads from discount vapers. The heads are in the white box exactly as shown before.
The box does say Kanger Evod heads so I can only assume they are real Kangers.

I have never seen any offered in a black box wherever I look.
The ones I got work perfectly.
I also got 5 from fasttech & they have problems with their draw & leak all over the place or don't wick at all. To the dump with those.

Does anyone have a link to the black box ones? I've never ran across them.

Here ya go...Discount Vapers. I buy 'em here 4 or 5 boxes at a time. They're always the genuine article.

I picked up a box of coils yesterday for my Vision Victory and the box looks exactly like yours. When comparing those with one of the ones that came with the tank, I noticed that the post/chimney, whatever you call it, is significantly longer on the new ones. In this photo, the one on the left came with the tank. It's post is 7.5mm long. The one on the right is what came in the white box and it's post is 13mm long. I also noticed that ones that came with the tank have not one, but two, "flavor wicks". I'm not sure what difference the lengths make.

@HDvaper, now I am really confused... how do you say those white boxes are knock offs when that is the exact same box that discount vapers sends (I have 4 boxes sitting right here I got last week from them)? Then in your very next post state to buy from discount vapers as they sell the ones in black boxes (@castell asked for a link to the black boxes not to the white boxes he has already purchased from the link you sent). I would just really like to get my hands on a set of black box evods as so I can compare. Thanks a million

Okay so I have a genuine Kanger Evod (black) that is branded and stampled and another Evod (different color, same vendor just not branded but supposedly genuine) took it apart and meticulously compared it to one another ALONG with the coils that came in the white box. They are essentially completely identical to one another. I do not see a single difference from the rubber gaskets, to the size, air holes, wick etc.

I do believe the coils to be genuine.

I am waiting on a pack of Evods from Fasttech which I know are not genuine and I will compare it with the genuine one and report back once I discover my findings.

I don't think we/you have anything to worry about! :)

Hey - check THIS out...
Black Box - in the picturefrom FastTech ("Authentic Kanger ProTank Coil Heads") for $7.49
And these, "Clearomizer Coil Heads FOR Kanger ProTank") ie - not Kanger coils for $6.78

Nice find. i was actually looking at those a few days ago when they first hit the site and didnt even look at the pics. And the pic of the black box also doesn't say evod, only the protanks. I looked at eBay last night and found tons of black box pics and they all showed the writing to only be for protanks as well. So it seems my original theory from a few pages ago is still sound in that the black box was originally used for the protank line and the white box for the evods. Hope all this info has been able to help out the OP

Here's the skinny from Discount Vapers' Eric Gormly:

Kanger Evod Coils come in a blister pack in a white box, Kanger ProTank coils come in a blister pack and in a black box (however, now Kanger just makes the one coil for both evod and protank - long stem - but still ships them in different boxes).

The black Protank Box has Kangers logo on it (on the top flap) The Evod and MT3's coil boxes (also white) do not have the logo.

The Protank Box did not always have their logo, that's fairly new, I would assume one of these days they will change the evod box to a logo also, or just combine the two boxes.

Kanger goes through different boxes and changes them once in a while (they added a "mega protank" check box to the protank box recently lol even though there is no mega that I know of) . It would be nice if they just went to one single box.

Kanger does NOT send single evod or protank coils outside of blister packs, if someone is selling them and they are not in blisters, they are not genuine (or they are really, really old like the first few weeks of release old)

Hope that clears it up, I get all my from Kanger, so I would certainly know.

Interesting that Kangers PT and EVOD coils are going to be the same size now... I have been running the shorter EVOD coils in my PT's, seem to have a tighter draw and less airyness.

I recently bought a bunch of Kanger gear and extra coils from 3 "known" suppliers. EVOD's coils came in white boxes, Pro Tank coils came in black boxes, both blister packed in 5's... and the 5 Mini T3's just came with the coils installed. Kanger or knock-offs I have no idea, but I don't see any of the coils themselves stamped Kanger, not even those that came in the Pro Tank 2 Kits.

What I did find was wick inconsistency within a model, especially the mini T3's. A coiled wick and anywhere from a few strands of wick to 1, 2 or 3 flavor wicks added. Lots of gurgling, flooding, etc when they got down to half full reservoirs. No quality control whoever made them.

Just got most of the stuff to start making my own coils to get completely away from relying on coils from others.

I've always ordered heads for the Protank (black box). I've never ordered any for the EVOD or Mini T3 (white box). As I said, I've always gotten genuine Kanger heads in a black box from Discount Vapers. I have no idea about the other ones.

In a nutshell, I go through a lot of coils because of my DIY juice. I vape at 7 Watts usually. So, two a week, way less than smoking, way more than I want. So, I rebuild. First 4 heads, no go. Then went 10 for 12, perfect at 2.0 - 2.2 Ohms, 6/7 wrap, Kanthal 32 with cotton. Do not dry burn. Shortly after mastering this and about 50 coils, I switched to carto tanks. Don't worry, be happy. Much better vape, imho. Other than my RBA's, you're not gonna get my Phiniac out of my hands.

Evods from FT, were fine, the heads that came with them were not fine. Their replacement heads were fine too. So, got rid of heads that came with the knockoffs. Replaced with knock-off heads (sold separately) and no problems. Btw, I have been able to get the evod/PT coils to work in my MT3's, though, I have friends that have not been able to do it. Since I bought replacement bases for my T3's, this could explain the difference, so the answer is: sometimes the are interchangeable, sometimes they are not. Well aware of the differences in measurement and tolerances, but, like I said, a definite maybe. Good luck.

One thing to note that when ordering from FastTech, check the product description details. When FastTech is selling branded equipment from JoyeTech, Kanger, etc., the manufacturer is listed in the details or it is listed as "Authentic" in the product title.

https://www.fasttech.com/products/0...entic-kanger-protank-clearomizer-coil-heads-5

Here's a relatively new mod from KSD, called the Kmax. Check the description for make/model.

https://www.fasttech.com/products/0...kmax-telescoping-variable-voltage-e-cigarette

If you don't see it listed as "authentic" or if there's no manufacturer listed, it's a clone.

When ordering from Heaven's Gift or Price Angels, there is no such convention. Heaven's Gift is an authorized distributor of Kanger products and gets boxes that are different from everyone else. Price Angels appears to only sell clones.

I think my evods and coils are fakes. I've read on here that a Protank head can be placed in an EVOD, but not in my EVOD.

I got some real ones from Provape, the ones I have in there now are absolute ####. After four refills my coffee flavors taste like badger piss.*

*Yes, I've tasted badger piss

Update: Got my genuine evod heads from surevapes (not provapes) today. Threw old coil head out, put new one in...POOF...great flavor and a tight draw.

This actually changes my entire opinion of the evod. I used to think this was a bottom of the barrel juice vessel with no real future in my rotation, except maybe as an out and about system. Now I can confidently get a good toot out of these so they'll have a place due to their aesthetically pleasing look with an eGo battery, and their ease of use. :thumb:

I have the short heads in the 2.5 ohm and I have 2 boxes each of the longer heads in 1.8 and 2.2 ohm. From what I've read Kanger no longer makes the shorter head and the longer head models fit both the Evod and Pro Tank. Hence maybe why the boxes are now white and not black. I ordered mine from DV.

Skip the middle man and rebuild them, it will save you a bunch of money and lead you into rebuildables and a much better vape. JMHO
Yep that's what I am about to start just waiting for all the wicks wires and ohm tester (an svd) to get delivered. Then I don't care if they are knock offs as long as they screw in properly since I will be replacing the pieces that aren't working anyway.
