I'm losing my marbles. I have 1.5 ohm, 1.8 ohm and 2.5 ohm universal coils and they all suck compared to the original EVOD coils. They are airy and have an awful taste that hits the back of my throat. Like a dry hit, only the vapor production is fine. I vape flavorless too, so there's nothing there to mask the flavor. I've tried to just power through it, hoping it will go away, but nope. I've tried fiddling with the wick and making sure there's no air lock, thinking it's wicking problem. Nope.

Is anyone else in agreement with me? I want to call Kanger out for ruining such an immensely popular design, but I dunno if I'm the odd man out or what is going on.

As you can appreciate, this is my addiction so it's driving me mad. I feel like I have to start from ground zero and find something else entirely, or hunt down these elusive original EVOD coils... wherever they may be.

I've used the EVOD BCC for like a year now or something and they worked so beautifully! I recommend them to everyone... now I can't even vape with it.

The base of the Protank/Evod head is smaller in diameter than the original Evod head.
The center opening in the pipe is also much larger.
Best solution is learning to rebuild those, unfortunately most people toss them before realizing.

What you are experiencing is an increase in Heated air. Corrections include:
Reducing power to coil - requires a vv device - may cause pre-mature clogging of wicks
Increasing e-liquid flow to wick - may cause leaking
Blocking 1 of the holes on the base to restrict air flow - increases liquid draw

Last solution - place a decent quantity order with Fasttech for the Evod clone coils and be prepared to wait 6-10 weeks for delivery.

I prefer to use my own wick and coil in these anyway. Have you tried that?

No, but I'm going to try do that tonight. I'm also going to boil a couple heads, let one dry, and have one soak in vodka. If I can get rid of that horrible taste I'll at least be able to use them.

Honestly, I just don't understand from a business perspective why Kanger did this. They have this immensely popular design... so they redesign it. Excellent.

Thanks for the link moonlit. I'm not sure 2.2 ohms will cut it though. I've been using 1.8 ohm original evod coils for so long now. They are so glorious.

maybe you didnt get genuine kanger heads. some complain of worse taste with the generic heads. some say theyre better than the kangers, so i dont really know whats up becasue both taste fine to me. sure i dont use them very often, but when i do, things are fine with either. im thinking you got a bad batch- whether it was kanger or generic. probably just a better chance of them being duds if theyre generic, thats all.

Yeah, sorry but I bought all the remaining boxes of 1.8's from WordUp a couple months ago.
Not that many, or I'd part with some for ya...

I haven't tried the clone version, and haven't yet put a ProTank coil in an EVOD as I'm not out - now that you've described this, I'll be sure to keep them. But honestly, I don't really WANT to get into rebuilding, so when I run out of short tubes, if I dislike it that much, I may dump EVOD's in favor of T3's - the performance to me is quite similar, and those coils are available.

If I cannot solve this problem, I'll try checking the T3's.

I only have one original EVOD coil in working condition. Thankfully they last forever with unflavored juice...

At least I'm not alone on this. Kanger needs to bring them back. I've just emailed them, and encourage everyone to do the same! If they are selling (which they are) Kanger might be none the wiser.

Does not matter if original Kanger or Clone coils - I always unpack, remove the pipe over the wick and Pulse burn the coils several times.
This removes any contaminants before they can effect the e-liquid.
Every single one so far has had at minimum a wisp of smoke on the first few pulses. Once clean they simply Glow.:D
While the Pipe is off it is a Great time to add a Drop of e-liquid to the wicks to prime them.

If you still have some old original evod heads around, then here's a possible solution (aside from rinsing/dry burning/re-using your evods)...
You can pop the little tube/tip thing off of your original evod (which has a smaller opening than the new heads), take the one off of your new head, and put the original tube thing onto your new head. Then it's like an original.

Last week, I bought: 3 EVODs, 1.8 ohm. 1 T3s mini, 1.8 ohm. 2 iSmoka bcc minis, 1.8 ohm. 1 new ego cc with Type A SR atty.
I ordered one 5-pack of EVOD 2.2 ohm replacement heads. What came in the mail was a pack of 2.2 ProTank replacement heads.

I vape with an ego c at 3.3 volts. None of these has a bad taste except for the 2 EVODs that I put the 2.2 ProTank heads in. The taste, to me, is what kerosene smells like. I have tried raising volts with a USB VV and Vamo... no difference in the bad taste.

Since the original EVOD heads don't have that bad taste, I went looking for some and can't find any. It seems they've been replaced by the ProTank heads I received. I can't find any T3s mini replacement heads either and the iSmoka had one dud out of six so I consider my purchase a waste of money except for the single ego cc which I consider perfect in both performance and taste.

I've been using the same head I got with the original evod I bought. I've just been rebuilding it with micro coils and cotton wick and this sucker vapes like a champ. It seemed like a hard endeavor at first but once you get the method down its awesome and its rewarding. I just use a toothpick and I wrapped the 32g kanthal 7 times and you wanna get the coils as close to each other as possible. The nice thing is you can remove the wick from the coil once its a cruddy and just replace your cotton well hopefully lol since I haven't tried that just yet but I'm hoping it'll work :D

EVOD Coil Unit For eGo MT BCC 1.6ml
i use evods, protanks, and protank minis and the replacement heads are interchangeable

Thank you for reminding me. I had some of the 2.2's in my cart and forgot about them. I now have 5 boxes of them ordered. I just recently started using the 2.2 and am liking them. Up until recently I had been using the 1.8. I also ordered 5 more eVods. They will come with 1.8 heads pre-installed.

eVods have become my favorite juice delivery devices. It just doesn't get any easier than this.

The 2.2's I have right now are the eVod/protank heads and I've not noticed any difference between them and my original eVod heads other than maybe a bit of juice popping up through the shaft before they get nice and comfy in there.
