So far I've tried MJT, Vision, Smoketech, Matrix, "CE's" (not sure what the "CE" stands for?) One member said it was "China Export", but I question this because almost all of them are. I think it was a CE 4 that had no wick outside the coil assy. But the ones I bought leaked by the end of the first day. Then I bought some Kanger products (bottom coil seemed to be a better design system), and the EVOD tank atomizer system has so far out preformed everthing else, along with the Mini ProTank.
Is there a better bottom coil system of equal or smaller size? All systems (excluding drip & mods) allow the liquid to "thin in first feed" and leave thicker liquid toward the end. So large tanks are out! Unless you use 100% one type of base without flavoing. Of course thats basic hydrolic science.

ive been using kanger for a while, recently switched over to a aspire maxi bdc... i reccomend them, many others do but as with anything some people dont get along with them.

my lady friend and i were just talking about this.she uses the EVOD also. while i am fiddling with my top coil tanks she keeps on vaping and can even change out the coils while the tank has liquid. HMMMMM... hard to beat for a consistent vape and ease of use. BTW i just got her a VV/VW for christmas and a couple of black EVODS to match it. she is ecstatic and is happily vaping along.

bottom line is, i am recommending the EVOD to new vapers above all else.

Evods, protanks, davide's and the new aspire are all popular. Like all clearos at present, they can be finicky and do require some effort. I think we may see some better designs in 2014 with air flow and juice control. We're due, for sure, as we all vape a little differently with draw, heat, juice, etc. and we need these controls and a better design that can maintain a consistent pressure seal in a broad range of conditions. As long as the EVOD tank material and threads hold out I think they are the bees knees. I get better flavor by replacing the flavor wick with cotton. To someone who has only clearomizers I wholeheartedly recommend giving cartos a try, warmer more flavorful vape IMHO.

I completely agree about cartomizers.

OP I really like my EVODS, but if you want something that is bottom coil and actually works better than an EVOD and is smaller or similar in size, nothing beats a Kanger carto. I use the XL version on my Twist with a cone and a drip tip, and it is still the best vape I can find, apart from a standard dripping atty. Kanger 510 Horizontal Coil Cartomizer

You may also want to look into carto-tanks. They make small ones that are similar in size to an EVOD. 510 U-DCTank Combo - 3ml/Mini

CE's were the first horizontal cartomizers. Actually the first ones I remember were the CE2's then came the revised CE2. Next was the CE3 which were the first clearomizers

All the BCCs are a bit touch and go. I bought a bad smok ARO (only fixed with help/intuition/forums) and even the Aspire is now coming through with some bad reviews.

In regard to your comment about mini Protanks; i.m.o. the evod, the mini P and the T3S are almost identical. I have all 3 and all 3 are within touching distance of 100% perfect.

How do you fill them?

I have EVODs but the draw is too airy for me and I can't use my other drip tips on them... plus, I have a really hard time seeing the juice level in the skinny window as they're very clear juices. I much prefer my iSmoka mini BCCs which hold, I think, just a bit more juice than the EVOD. I think the iSmoka is also branded as Anyvape.

How do you fill them?

You fill the carto first (priming) then you fill the carto into the tank while leaving a gap between the top of the tank and the carto and fill the tank. Then push the carto through the top and vape. To refill, you slide the carto down until there is a gap and fill it up.

I started with Evods and still use them. Like the Aspire BDC better though, not as much gurgling/leaking for me. Pbusardo has a review of the Aspire on YouTube if you're interested. Just started on carto tanks, initial results good.

Once you get the hang of using carto tanks, they are pretty easy to manipulate. Use the Bad Attitude fill method, get a tank tool, and then pick up a cheap tank like the Smok U-DCT (Artemas) Locking Tank (empty) - Chrome

I have a few carto tanks, the Phiniac tanks are awesome if you are looking for something customized.

I have'nt tried the iSmoka Mini BBC yet. So I checked it out online based on your post. It seems to have high ratings, and I like the tip! The flat tip like a pipe should be very comfortable, and may even be removable. But I don't like graduated marks. It makes it look clinical like a hypodermic syringe. Maybe the "black" one will be harder to see the graduations on it. Do you know if the coil can be rebuilt by hand using kanthal wire & silica wick?
