I've been using Kanger Evods off and on for over 4 years. I still grab one to work in the yard or for a quick errand. I also have a tiny case with one to carry as a backup vape for longer trips out. A couple of my batteries are my original set and the tanks have only gotten better with the socc coils.

If you plan on actually using something with any kind of regularity, you're usually vastly better off just buying the real thing and knowing it's very likely going to work for a long time.

That's the thing, though; when I used to use the DSE901s, while the attys would sometimes be broken straight out of the box, more often than not an atty would last me three, four months or even more (with heavy daily use), and a 901 battery could last years. I'm just a little surprised at how, well, disposable this new generation of 'disposables' are; the 88Vape atomisers usually barely last me a week, and of course I have my current tale of woe with these three shonky EVODs, none of which (neither the batteries nor the atomisers) survived to the end of the first day.

I'm definitely no aficionado when it comes to vape stuff, but I have been using joyetech EGO batteries forever. I usually replace them on account of them getting beat up as opposed to losing functionality. Same with karger protank/aerotank/emow etc. I usually replace those only when I lose them or they come out with a better version.

I bought some random EGO style batteries (probably from fasttech) years ago, and yea they were pretty much junk. Same with atomizers. I've never had luck with anything atomizer-wise that wasn't name brand. YMMV, but it's definitely hit or miss when buying something that someone who doesn't know what vaping is tries to reverse engineer vape stuff.

@k1k1 - I missed seeing this question that you asked me in an earlier post:

And, you seem to be saying that the TopEvod (which can take higher ohms) is potentially better for MTL (my chosen style as an ex-smoker) than the Subvod. Is that right?

Well, not necessarily. You can MTL vape using either 1 of them. I use both of them myself and so do some friends. Maybe it'll help if you look at the following comparisons of their details...and decide which 1 of them you think you would like better.

KangerTech TopEvod Starter Kit:
Battery - 650mAh
Tank - topfill - holds 1.7mL eliquid
Airflow control - No, has no airflow control ring to adjust it
Size - 14mm diameter (same as reg. Evod batteries & tanks)
Total length (with tank attached): 12.8cm = approx. 5 1/8"
Charges - By screw-on cable, to battery 510 threads
Coils - I'd use only authentic KangerTech ones below for MTL
Dual Coils (white 5/pack box) - 1.2, 1.5, or 1.8ohms (less $)
VOCC-T Coils - 1.2, 1.5, or 1.8ohm (more $)

KangerTech Subvod Starter Kit:
Battery - 1300mAh
Tank - topfill - holds 3.2mL eliquid
Airflow control - Yes, has airflow control ring to adjust it
Size - 18.5mm diameter (larger than reg. Evod batteries & tanks)
Total length (with tank attached): 14.8cm = approx. 5 3/4"
Charges - By Micro USB cable, in port on battery bottom
Coils - I'd use only authentic KangerTech ones below for MTL
SSOCC (Black box, red writing, 5/pack) - 1.5 or 1.8ohms
*These coils are usually always more expensive than the Dual Coils for the TopEvod Tank.

So, in a "nutshell"...
The KangerTech TopEvod Kit can be used to vape MTL, is less expensive, smaller in size, and takes less expensive coils...but has no airflow control and has a smaller capacity tank and lower mAh battery (will last about half as long as the Subvod before recharging).

The KangerTech Subvod Kit can be used to vape MTL, is more expensive, larger in size, and uses coils that are usually more expensive...but it has airflow control, a larger capacity tank and higher mAh battery (will last about 2x as long as TopEvod before recharging).

Airflow control is what helps you adjust how "airy" the draw will be when you vape. With the little TopEvod, I personally put a small piece of tape over 1 of the tiny holes around the bottom of the tank, to get the kind of draw I want. With the Subvod, I adjust the airflow control ring to get the same draw with it.

So, it's really up to you to choose which 1 you think will best suit you (price-wise, ease of use, features, etc.). I hope all of the above helps you with that decision.

ETA: I forgot to mention that both come with a hard plastic drip tip. The TopEvod tank has a much smaller in size drip tip than the Subvod tank (TopTank Nano), but...you can use most any regular 510 drip tip you like, on either tank.
