BTW, to those who have the first Merlin rta's, I had one that the 510 contact screw broke on, now the screw on other Merlin keeps coming loose. I think I found those screws, at least someone posted in the feedback ratings these screws work https://www.fasttech.com/products/5298603 Might be an idea to get some of these to have on hand, apparently there are others who have problems with the screws going bad. 50 of them should last a lifetime LoL.

Need some advice guys. My buddy is going through treatments for his cancer and he's still smoking! He wants to get into vaping, sat down and talked with him, explained options to get started and showed him what I use. He doesn't want to go the Pod route, he wants to jump right in the deep end. I'm concerned it might be overload getting started like that but he lives just a 1/4 mile up the road so if he has problems I can swing in and give him a hand. I don't care how he vapes, the main thing is to get him off the damn cigs!

I'm gather supplies for him and need some different wires he can experiment with both in Temp control and without. He'll be using Mizer's and Merlin's on DNA 200 mods, my old HotCig DX's. I've only been using Ni200 tempered wire for my solid wire coils and that Ni Clapton. I only vape in Temp control, he'll have to figure out what works for him.

Today I'm gathering and ordering wires for him, what I have so far to give him in wires
Kanthal, various diameters
Ni200
SS 316L in 26 & 28 ga
Ni Clapton
Some assorted premade non-temp controlled Clapton's

Suggestions on other solid wires and ga recommendations? Should I get some Ti? Any other wire suggestions?

How the heck does that happen? I don't have any Merlins (are they for MTL or DL?). But all that I do have, the last thing I an worried about is the 510 screw. My FreeMax tanks (I have 12 of them now), one of them sometimes the 510 screw gets loose. But it is hard to get them tight since the other side just spins and is a flat contact for the coil. They're adjustable, so they really don't have to be tight. But you will get a more solid resistance if they are.

I hate copper screws, way to easy to strip. ;)

I bought a quantity of SS cheese head screws from eBay a long while back. They were 30mm long and in both M2.5 & M3 sizes. Just chop them off to fit, you might need to turn the head down a little with a drill/file combo but that only takes a minute or two.

It happens from dropping your mod and it hits the floor atty first.... On these Merlin's the deck is a press fit into the base, the screw goes up into the deck, the body of the atty screws onto the deck so when it gets hit on the upper body part of the atty it pulls on the deck and rips the threads off the soft copper screw. The older I get the more "Fumbles" fits as a nick name...

My Snap-On tool box is chest high, I have my notebook setting on top for access to repair manuals. I have a bad habit of standing there reading the manual, vaping and setting the mod just to the right of me, then turn to walk away and knock the mod off the tool box with a sweep of my right hand. I've done this a few times, you'd think I'd learn by now... :(

Bill, just from the names of those liquids I can tell they're real gunkers.
What flavors do you vape? I prefer coffee flavors. But finding one I like is another story. Plus they don't store well and usually go bad in few weeks to a few months.
My big complaint about re-building is getting the wick "just right" and exactly the same each time.
Many drop in coil head manufactures have the same problem. But somehow FreeMax got it right. Every coil the wicking has been perfect. And the juice channels are huge and no leaking. And you can run them up to like 150 watts while chain vaping before the wicking can't keep up. And those mesh coils... even heating throughout unlike wire coils. Thus far better flavor.

LoL, just got a text from my daughter that made my day. I finally got the repairs and final touches done on her car yesterday, well couple things left but the big important and safety issues are done, I'll get the rest before the snow falls. I dropped it off last night parking it inside her garage while she was away. The text read,
"Love you so much Dad! Thank you! I see you washed my car! Driving down the road I just noticed you got the inspection done too!"
When all they notice is a clean car and a new inspection sticker, it means I did my job right. ;) No complaints on how it run or drives. :)

Sure is nice to sit on my .... for a day, cat napping on my lap, heating pad on my back, fresh mug of coffee and fresh vape, life is good.

I'd like them even more is they had bigger liquid capacity, 4.2ml is kind of on the low side to me.
What tank size do you like? Most of my tanks are 4 to 5ml. I was surprised with the FireLuke and it states 4 to 5ml depending on the coil used. But I measured 6.5ml with the single mesh coil. I got that 20ml tank for the Aromamizer, but I never used it. The old 25mm Subtank is 7ml. I can't think of many tanks over 5ml really.

Hey Steamer861, I was mentioning to TrollDragon that I found wicking the Dvarw DL a PITA with Rayon. I'd wick the coil and hold each wick up like bunny ears to get into and through the wicking holes on that outer section. Then the old back and forth to straighten out the strands, then cut. Is that how you did yours? I just went back to cotton.

    Sitting down, facing forward.
Willie, I'd try some Ti, but I'm a big fan of Ti. Your, and his, mileage may vary with that. Let me look around, I may have some Foggers hanging around that he could use. Kind of a smaller build deck but that may keep the clouds down enough for a newbie, too.

I prefer tanks with 6ml or larger capacity. I have a Supreme, ~7ml+, and that's great for me. Even with ten mods running all day I end up having to stop and fill two, three of four sometimes. The less filling, the better is my logic. On the other hand I don't want something the size of a bucket, either. The Supreme is physically large enough for my tastes, while regular Aromamizers are fine as well. The Merlin looks nice, size wise, but that reduced liquid capacity is a PITA at times.

I have a couple Fogger's but I hesitate to give him something with a small deck to build on. I have single coil plugs for the mizer's, I'm going to give him a couple of those, he could build one coil on those mizer's and cut the air flow down with the band for more of a tootle puff atty. I still want to get him to go with me to the vape shop so he can see everything from beginner starter kits right up to cloud chasing setups. I better do it soon, I doubt the vape shops will stay open around here much longer. I'm shooting to have stuff gathered to get him started by next Monday or Tues, I've placed a few online orders today and hopefully everything will be here by then. I've got a credit coming at Harbor Freight, enough to pay for one of those table clamp vises I use and stuff to make him one of the flex tubing 510 thingy that I use when build.

That was me for years. I was mostly vaping airy MTL. Having 6+ tanks with different juices and I kept switching flavors all of the time. And consuming 18 to 30ml per day (18-24mg). But then about a year ago I started doing more restricted DL vaping. Number of devices I use daily dropped, number of flavors used down, and juice consumption down to less than 10ml per day with 6mg nic. I didn't plan or want to cut back or anything. It just worked out that way. It seems more satisfying to me over MTL (both flavor and nic) so I naturally vape less.

I went just the other way, from years of MTL to multiple mod's/atty's/flavor's with Clapton's, clouds and watching juice level fall like I use to watch the gas gauge drop in my hot rods back in the day. But I did scale back to just two mod's/atty's/flavor's running at any given time, it's all I need to keep vapor tongue at bay and I wasn't vaping most of the other much anyways. All those really great desert and drink flavor's, as much as I love them, they are just too much to keep up with. They taste wonderful but they gunk so fast, it became too much of a PITA. Now I have my long time fav Jon Wayne and yes it's somewhat a gunker juice but I have to have something good (and it is sooo good!) and I like either Broke-D's Water Cup or Prepaid, both juice flavors that aren't "knock your socks off" but good, clean and cheap juice.

Thank you Steamer! You da man! PM sent! Now I have to figure out how to make it right with you. :)

N/P Willy I'm just glad I can Help Out :thumb:

Have I mentioned how much I like the Dvarw DL Atty? I hit the nail on the head with the first one, I used a Blueberry Cotton Candy juice in it & wow! The second one I tried several juices till I got one that was tasting Fine! You mite need to try different juices in it? I find the juice flavour makes all the difference, some are Meh & some are a Home Run!
As far as wicking goes, I use cotton all ways have & always will :) I just cut the wicks about a few mm longer than the barrel, I do the rabbit ears & tuck them in gently to cover the wick holes :)
Did I mention how much I like the Dvarw DL? The fake Steam tunners Cap is the icing on the Dvarw Cake IMO :)

I needed a dozen 10mm plastic push lock clips to hold the bottom of the front bumper and lower splash shield on my daughter's car, was going to go to NAPA and pick them up but thought maybe I could find them online cheaper, the factory clips are $7 each... Found this 120 piece kit for $7 on Amazon, I have Prime so shipping was free, for the price I didn't expect high quality and I took a chance. The kit came today, to my amazement these are as good as the clips NAPA sells, these are really nice! What a bargain, and to boot, I found there are also the exact clips in there I need for my wife's car. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K8KGV4X
