The migration from Win 7 to Win 10 saga hauntingly continues. Plan was to add a 2nd SSD for 10, keep 7 for now and have a dual boot setup. I found a 240 gb PNY SSD for $30 at BestBuy, I'll be picking that up today and hopefully get 10 installed and activated today. Once installed and activated I can keep using 7 and set 10 aside for now, allowing my blood pressure to drop some. I just want to get a copy of 10 locked down in case MS decides to pull the plug on the free upgrade, I've watched the price of 10 spike the last two months, the effects of demand and greed.
In preparation I cloned my Win7 disk to a extra platter drive yesterday, took hours. Once done I plugged in the platter drive in place of the SSD drive I've been using and booted it up to make sure the clone was functional, it took forever for the platter drive to boot up. I've forgotten just how much those SSD drives speed things up and wondered how I ever lived with using those platter drives for C drives in the past. Thanks again Mike, using the SSD for a C drive was the best advice you ever gave me!
I know I over think things sometimes but I'm not as sharp with computers as most of you guys are. I go slow and careful, try to cover my .... and not paint myself in a corner. Although I always seem to end up with success, working on computers is admittedly a task for me. Mainly because I just don't have any wrenches that fit these computers, and I've found using hammers, while very satisfying for a moment, only makes the job more difficult and expensive. On top of it all I looked at the bank accounts yesterday and it hit me that it's that time of year again when my wife is Christmas shopping again. Nov to mid-Dec is always a bad time to be spending money on "my toys".
The last few days has left me feeling like Max, stressed and confuzzed.
