OMGThanks for that, Tibs! I needed a mood lift this morning, big time. I switched to FiOS last week and rue the day I did. What a shiftshow. Their customer support and website make ComTrash look good.

I took my iPhone 5S out of my desk drawer to check the charge on it, iTunes then wanted to update the IOS. This phone is just the way I left it other than it has no SIM card installed. Just as the update finished my wife called me and both my iPhones rang so I answered the old one with no SIM card and talked to my wife on it. I asked my son how this can be and he said via it's WiFi connection.
I tried calling out with it before I went to work and the call failed. When I get home I'm going to mess with it some more to see if it's repeatable. My old 6+ won't even text on Wifi, with out a Sim card It's an iPod with a web browser & a Camera![]()
I think starting with iOS11, you could use WiFi calling. But it isn't enabled by default and you had to toggle it on in settings. It also depends on the carrier you are using whether they support it or not. But I know nothing about calling without a SIM card except for 911 calls.I tried calling out with it before I went to work and the call failed. It was only an incoming call that it worked.I think starting with iOS11, you could use WiFi calling. But it isn't enabled by default and you had to toggle it on in settings. I got a spare iPhone SE in my drawer. I bought it as a spare in case my other one quits. I put a SIM card once when I got it to make sure it works. I just tried it now on WiFi and it says no SIM card, call failed. It has iOS12.2 installed. The one I use has iOS13.1.3 on it.
What number would they call to call my spare phone without a SIM card?It was only an incoming call that it worked.
On my SE: Settings/Cellular/Calls on Other Devices. What number would they call to call my spare phone without a SIM card?
I could see it happening if you used it as a VoIP line like with Skype or something. But you still need that number the account it is running from.
Where yours says "CC" mine says Cricket. Perhaps it varies by provider. Mine was ios13.2 something, it's updating to 13.2 now.
