Sitting down, facing forward.
I have a new "task master". The Mrs and I joined the local Y so we can start working out again. Our old Polar heart rate monitors were dead and needed new batteries. Polar gets ~$50 to replace a single button battery in the chest strap which seems a little steep to me. I bought the Mrs a Garmin watch with heart rate and all that jazz a few years ago because she wanted one but I always relied on the Polar with the chest strap.

Mentioned this to my daughter and she volunteered my SILs "old" Fitbit Ionic. He's a died in the wool Apple fan and has the latest Apple watch as well as an iPhone 11 with everything in it. Anyhow, last weekend we were over at my daughters and when we left the Ionic came home with us.

Now, I'm a slave to the watch. The cotton pickin thing "reminds" me to move. "Reminds" me to walk more. The result is I'm paying a LOT more attention to my activity level and diet. The ^$%@ watch sort of makes me! I will say my resting heart rate has already dropped about 5BPM and, at my age, I'll take every beat I can lower it.

I have to admit that I was kind of doubtful about the accuracy of the heart rate monitor on a wrist watch, but, comparing it to a blood pressure cuff, it's almost spot on every morning. Technology has come a long way with this stuff.

I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3 and the only thing that is not accurate on it is the sleep sensor. I guess I move around too much for it to work properly, but the wife's FitBit tracks her sleep perfectly.

Awesome watches for sure.

The Mrs is a Vivoactive, original Vivoactive. I bought her a new Vivoactive 3 but she didn't want it so it went back. It seems to do OK with tracking her sleep but never hows her in rem sleep. The Ionic shows me in REM every night. Have you kept the firmware updated on the Vivoactive?

Yeah, they have a Mac, they're in the Apple crate, but they've got a Windoohs machine as well so they're still teetering on the edge. The Ionic is fine for me. It does exactly what I want it to do, well maybe not all those @#$$%^ reminders, and I don't want to look like a Dick Tracy wannabe talking to my watch.

I just now finished up my 2019 income taxes. I had to pay a little more than $1200 addl. So this is an E-File so I needed to put my Ca. DL lic numbers in for ID purposes as well as the wife's.
Well she just received her new one and when I asked for her card she gave me both her old and new card.
WW3 just about broke out here when I cut the old one in half.
When I went out to the kitchen to return her new one she was Scotch taping the old one back together. LOL

Oh yeah updated as updated can be, it has me asleep for 35 minutes, REM for 2 and so on. I gave it a week in case it needed to stabilize on a pattern or something but didn't work. It's not a feature I worry about.

Finally found a watch face I like that's easy to read and has full info field customization.

I like my watches like I like my mods. Mechanical.

To be honest, I like a mechanical watch over an electronic "smart" watch any day but, unfortunately, it takes electronics to do what I need to be able to monitor at the moment. It was with great sadness that my old Seiko, self winder, went back into the jewelry box while I'm on this crusade to lose weight and improve my physical condition further. It;s still there, waiting, to come back out and just in case (tinfoil hat on) there's an EMP event.
