    No you can't
I've been coming up blank with that site. Until earlier today I took a look at my address as it appears on this years tax form I sent in. To my surprise it came back with "you are entitled to stimulus check" but now they're saying they don't have my banking information on file and paper check will be issued. Unless I give them the information which is strange since I get my social security check each month with direct deposit from them. I triple checked it was the IRS site.

While my address was correct the first time I used it the same "we don't have your banking info" appeared. I too checked to see if the site was legit prior to giving the info. After that it said what I posted a few posts back.

apparently, the irs will not merge their system with ssa as previously thought. you will need to update your account info or wait for a check ;)

Wow $600 off a nicely spect Macbook Pro! That is one heck of a deal!

I know Bill posted this sarcastically! But this is way more of a discount than usual :)
All you have to do is check the prices of used ones on Ebay & you'l see these things hold there value Excellently! Most Apple products do :) Try & buy a used iPhone Xr, you'l see what I mean :)

You do know for $1,799.99 you could get a far better video card, keyboard, 2TB SSD, and a far better and bigger display than with an Apple - MacBook Pro 15.4 right?

Apple holds their value? You mean like when I purchased a brand new iPhone SE for like 400 bucks and walked out the door, it instantly lost $200 in value?

Gee, and now look at the sad price that a used iPhone 8 Plus 64GB slipped down to now. They used to be like $600 for one. Now they are only worth $319. And look at those iPhone 7 32GB going for as little as $150. Once Apple's pride and joy are now selling for junk status. :(

IMO you just cant get a better deal than an apple Macbook Pro!
We have a 2010 & a 2011 that have been working day in & out for 10 years now!
They both still work excellent & have a small residual value today! The 17 & 18 seem to be following along in there predecessors foot steps :)

Not all Apple products are as desirable as others, an iPhone 7 is at the end of it's life cycle now, (released Sept 16 2016) so the value will drop off some. My 8 Plus is still working like new & I will continue to use it till the support for it drops off, maybe 2 more years If I'm lucky & it's all ready 2 years old now!

To add to this, we have been running iPhones since the iPhone 3 & have never had a failure of any kind, that wasn't from Us breaking it our selves or it getting wet!

You can continue with your Windows Machines & Android phones if you wish, But you couldn't sell one to Me for 10 cents on the Dollar!

How is this different Steamer861, than me using my Motion Computing LE1700 (manufactured in 2007) running Windows XP SP2 Monday through Friday every week since 2007? It has been flawless all of this time and it cost half of what a Mac costs.

Or my Gateway M465 (also manufactured in 2007) running Windows 8.1 which I run 7 days a week since 2007? It too has performed flawless. It was also half the price of a Mac. And actually, in a few hours I have a job for it and will be turning it on running it until 4AM tomorrow.

Sorry but Gateway had to have been one of the worse computer companies ever! Poor business planning and even worse QC. Acer bought them out for $700 mil. $700 mil in the tech industry is chump change - Apple/Microsoft pays more for pizza day to feed their staff

As for Apple vs Windows, 2 completely different environments. You pay more for Apple hardware, but development is included in that cost. Free OS upgrades, no driver management, seamless integration within their ecosystem....this all comes at a cost. Windows, Android and what ever other tech involved works, but it’s fragmented.

We have 2 different ecosystems (3 if we include that penguin), this gives the consumer a choice to choose what works best for them!

Sorry but Gateway had to have been one of the worse computer companies ever!

Gateway did have their share of lemons, but not all of them were horrible. Like I am a big believer in their business class M465. The laptop itself has four USB2 ports and the dock itself has four more for a total of 8 USB ports. Every port you can think of available at the time it has. The laptop also has a removable bay where you can slide in a floppy, DVD, 2nd HD, or a second battery. Very easy to upgrade through door in the bottom. They are also one of the easiest laptops I ever had to swap out hard drives. I've done it in 5 seconds. They can run Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8.x, 10, or Linux. I was so impressed with my first one, I bought 7 more. And they were all manufactured back in 2007 and all are still running like new. It is very hard to complain about them. ;)

And as much as I love my three Alienware Aurora M9700 with dual NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS video cards (also manufactured in 2007). I never used them as much as I did with my Gateway M465 machines. But those Alienware Aurora are beautiful machines and a real joy to use. Kind of like driving a Ferrari. ;)

2007 was a very good year for PC machines. My favorite of all PC years. As these machines still had it as far as compatibility with the old and also compatibility with the future. I don't think we will see another year like that one. Heck netbooks arrived and SSD started to go mainstream in that year.

As for Apple vs Windows, 2 completely different environments. You pay more for Apple hardware, but development is included in that cost. Free OS upgrades, no driver management, seamless integration within their ecosystem....this all comes at a cost.

Whoa here. Who does the development? The OEM has to do their own development. Then Apple takes a look at it and says yes or no. If they say yes, they charge you a fee (really a ransom) so you can now say Apple compatible. It all cost Apple nothing while raking in the money. And remember there shouldn't be any Apple. As Apple screwed up and sued Microsoft and they went broke. But Microsoft kept them going by loaning them money. All paid for by Microsoft users. Yes, you're welcome.

We have 2 different ecosystems (3 if we include that penguin), this gives the consumer a choice to choose what works best for them!

    What choice?
    • Windows runs 99% of everything.
    • Apple runs 10% of everything.
    • Linux runs 1% of everything.
I don't see any choice here Punk In Drublic. ;)

    Sitting down, facing forward.
My "big" Win 10 machine is an Asus mobo, ROG VII Maximus, with an old i7 6700K processor, 32 gigs of RAM, about 10TB of storage and three video cards, RTX-2070, GTX-1060 and GT-970. I did invest in an 850 watt power supply being a little conservative. It runs 24/7/365 with the video cards running constantly at about 90% utilization on the GPUs and the CPU constantly running around 65% utilization. That covers video surveillance and folding at home. It's been running for well over seven years like this, albeit getting newer versions of video cards along the way. It started out with Win 7 and I upgraded, ?, to Win 10 about two years ago. Oh yeah, I did have to replace a flat bed scanner that I bought back when Win 98 was the latest so no real surprise there when going to a 64 bit operating system.

This craptop is an Asus with an i5. Started with Win 7 and upgraded, ?, to Win 10 about two years ago. I have added memory, now 8 gigs, and had to replace the hard drive last summer. It, too, ran 24/7/365 for about two years running folding at home but now I don't run it on this machine. The onboard graphics is an Intel version that f@h doesn't utilize and the CPU can't crank out enough work to make it worthwhile now. It's about five years old now and I had to get some "stickies" for some of the keys so I can type, I don't touch type. Other than that, and the hard drive, no problems at all. I do blow and vacuum the dust out every year, whether it needs it or not and it does sit on a cooling pad with a 120mm fan..

I have yet to have any driver problems or problems with Windoohs updates on either machine.

I can name one, right off the bat. Blue Iris Video Surveillance. It can be run on iOS IF you use an emulator, but it won't run natively and is technically not supported that way. In the case of Blue Iris, running it with an emulator strips away the ability to use hardware acceleration for the video processing, which in turn, loads the CPU to the point of a crash, depending on how many cameras, their resolution and bit rates. For that matter any Windoohs software needs to run in an emulator on an iOS based system which means more processor overhead.

OMG! you make it sound like were handy caped with OS
Name Me 10 relevant programs OS won't run that Windows does? Relevant!

Well there is that $152 billion dollar industry called the PC Game market. And when I did contract work for Apple. This one Apple building had all Macs except one was a PC machine. And I asked what that one did? They said that one was running a Pitney Bowes application. Then there is EScribe (sure it limps under MacOS). Then there is third party support like scanners, printers, and other devices. They all come with Windows drivers, Mac drivers not so much. Then MacOS likes to use non-standard data files. Weird formats for video, audio, pics, database, WP, SS, etc. To be not compatible with the rest of the world. Along with their non-standard cables. Pay more and do less. Whenever I think Apple, I automatically think of what P. T. Barnum had said. ;)
