Someone mention a Craftsman drill battery? These were flatlined and as anyone whom knows anything about Lithium batteries knows it should be taken out of service. But human ingenuity found a way around the safety devices. There are many of these videos but this particular one has over 219,000 views. Wonder if the one listed on the FAA report had had this done to it?

i thought that was what IMR batteries did - they don't vent explosively but kind of fizz and die slowly.

i think my first post in this bit of the thread was one recommending setting up battery standards about the current that they can output.

OK, so you are saying we should be "limited" to only one battery chemistry? That sounds just as restrictive as some of the other solutions you shot down.

Is there no way to use the Evolv 510? I know it mite be easier just to use the Varitube 510 But to quote Mike The climb will be worth the view on this one :) the Evolv 510 is a must IMO :)
There is always a way, but the mod has to be made taller and I haven't had the time yet. Arrival of Supremes got my attention returning to the All in One aromamizer concept.

I always liked side by sides but was always irritated by all the wasted space under the atty. Looking at how the Supremes base is set up w/ exterior threading on tank base got me returning to the concept of adapting the Aromamizer v1 into a Neebox/Plato style mod.

The base of supreme (purple) is like the perfect size to make an all in one atty base for the concept. By using a base contact for the + and making the Supreme base the + conductor it would be possible to put matching exterior threads on it so when nested with the v1 base it could be screwed into a + plate (red on right)embedded in the mod picking up the power to run atty when it does while the regular base screws into tank. Shortening the + post of deck would make for a relatively short base(full height pictured). Then you could cut exterior left handed thread on the bottom of the existing v1 tank base so it could be threaded into a (-) plate mounted in the base of mod creating a nebox style mounting / fill method which would still allow it to be unscrewed & removed for cleaning.

From there is is a matter of lengthening the tank glass and stovepipe. Result would be the elimination of all that wasted space, substantial increase in capacity, easy fill and disassembly for cleaning - pretty much everything I look for - Driven by a DNA75 w/ Replaceable 18650.

Now my questions to the group:
  • Machinists: Based on what I described would it be possible to modify the v1 tank in the manner described and what pitfalls do you see? Can any of you perform the threading modifications? Matching that threading perfectly on the v1 on the exterior of the supreme base so they thread into both plate & tank simultaneously seems like it could be tricky.
  • How best to fuse the two bases to prevent them rotating & from coming apart, while providing electrical insulation between + & - bases? Was literally thinking of fusing them with JB Weld or similar and relying on existing knurling/theading to provide the grab to fuse them.
  • Any know best way to make a custom tank size or have links for materials. 22mm od x 19mm id pyrex tubing cant be that tough to find and cutting it I assume is a simple score, snap & fire polish or am I wrong?
  • 9mm od x 7.5mm id sanitary SS tubing might be problematic. Anyone who has links or is set up to swag one end an thread it internally and externally thread the other end with proper threading to make extension tubes? Anyone know someone who could do it?
  • Do you think Steam crave would consider doing it all for me if we gave them the entire concept to market and manufacture the device? Anyone dealt with them in past?
Anyone have any feedback on the concept? Am I just delusional and wasting my time in thinking about this?

"Fail Safe" would be my proposed standard, by whatever means, circuitry, or chemistry. IMRs potentially satisfy that standard. However, Li-ion, and Lipo can also be made to fail safe, Dozens of fortune 500s do it in their products all the time.

It's just fabulous to see intelligent people having a reasonable debate on a controversial subject with not a single sign of trolling or flaming! Love this group!

I saw it said you cannot force people to be educated. But we do it all the time. I know it's a bit "out there", but what about a "vaping license"?

Thats good news :) I'm in no rush, I really like your VTC design. I would be real happy if it included the Evolv 510, even if it was a little taller :)
Thanks for the effort your putting in this :)

The Evolv 510 is a great connector but in practice, my mods with VT510's are just as reliable with as solid connections as my Evolv 510s. My VT510 mods have been in use for over a year now and I've never (ever) had any connectivity issues. Now that I've been using mods with the Evolv 510's for a while, I can easily say there's really no difference in actual use.
