Yep, look at the bottom of the batery sled, the board screws into the sled. Which means you have to ground your 510.

Or..... Maybe its intended to use very long screws that go through the top of the battery sled, then through the board, then into the bosses on the front half of the clam shell. Seems like a weak way to make a good ground though.

rather than soldering...some sort of rubber 'condom' type thing, poke the wire through, make a loop of exposed wire to lay flat against the pos. and slide the 'condom' thing down over the battery to secure the connection ?

Just make sure the battery is hard first......

The DNA75C reference mod is thinner than the original reference mod. It would be a feat to fit a cradle in there.

Opps, I see it now.
I shall blame it on my laptop's rather smallish screen. (I'm at home on desktop now)

Mike, is that guy with the AAA battery's one of those "renegades"?
Yeah, I am sure the FAA would say so.

The thing is, that I do remember building mods with AAs back in the day, and they worked. But that was with Cartos and CE4s with very low mass coils, you know, single coil 36awg stuff. Heck, that was how MadVapes got their start, catering to that generation of DIY. I used to visit their first B&M store in Charlotte.

Unfortunately, this guy dove in the deep end of the pool without learning how to swim first.

Maybe the 3 dimples are just spacers? Maybe just put there to not put pressure on the board at any other location?
If I were building one I would most definitely put 3 short board screws holding the chip in place & acting as a ground :)

On the older silo with the 18650 sled it fits so tight against the sided you don't need to fasten it with any thing it sticks right in there :)

Dunno, he leaves a lot to be questioned, and he's not very good at answering questions.

In any event, I feel confident he put together a functioning combo. I just dont care to deal with him myself.

Actually, the screws pass through the sled and board into the enclosure, pulling them all together. Should be OK.
