But whats this line?
"Sure the cable companies are not happy about it. But they are required by law to keep the signal going. And with advanced antennas like TvFox you can actually pick it up."
Its not different than old analogue TV antennas. 20 minutes out of every are advertising, thats how they pay it.

That line is called "a hook", I believe, in advertising. Yeah, cable companies would love it if TV stations didn't broadcast a signal, but it really isn't that big a deal to them in terms of the amount of customers they might gain. Public TV, the major networks, will always be broadcasting unless, in the future, legislation requires that cable companies supply those signal for free to everyone, and I doubt that will ever happen for a variety of reasons.

Short story, that line is phrased to make you think you're getting something "special" when, in reality, you're not. Misleading, yes, skirting the "truth", yes. If you want to give it a try, just go to Walmart. They sell digital antennas, too.

Back in the old days of analog cable, I had a friend that "stole" the signal off the cable from a "leaky" junction on the pole in front of his house. He still couldn't watch "pay" channels, no decoder (ahem), but he got everything else for free.

I have a 12' long aerial antenna that picks up tv stations from 65 miles away, but I live on a mountain top. I get 8 primary channels and some of those have 4 sub channels, around 20 stations total. The FCC required all tv transmitters to broadcast digital signals a few years ago here in the US. Yes, lots of commercials but crystal clear digital tv in hd when the stations broadcast hd programming. The antenna was $125 but I don't pay any monthly fees. It works fine for us because all we watch is the news, a few prime time sitcoms and a movie here and there.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Health Cops Now Calling For Regulation Of Caffeine

Well that explains why on my last tow visits to the doctor's they asked me, along with do you smoke, do you take caffeine. I think next time I'll respond with, "does injecting it count?" and see what reaction I get.

Day before yesterday I stopped in a gas station and picked up a cup of joe and a bottle of five hour energy, the kid at the checkout asked me if I was aware of the massive doses of vitamins in one bottle, said it was way over the top, I replied I don't care, all I know is it works. With that he came back with, well it just seems like an awful lot, so I stopped and looked him in the eye and said, You have no idea all the abuse I put my body through when I was younger, well maybe you do judging by your hair, clothes and tats, do you really think it matters at this point in my life if I pump myself with vitamins and caffeine? Silence.....

The total hypocrisy that is so rampant today boggles the mind. Legalize the wacky weed because it's a "wonderful recreational drug" (whatever that may really mean) but ban cigarettes and stamp out vaping unless it comes from BT.

It's not really "hypocrisy" it's influence! & BT has it!
Legalizing the weed, is a wonderful idea! We Canada & the USA can start a new home grown industry.
From the farmers & handlers right down to distribution & sales. People are going to use it! So why not make it legal, a bit safer to acquire & profit off it? Only thing now is we need more Pot cookies so it don't have to be smoked!
A stagering 90% of drugs crossing the US Mexico boarder is weed! Think of how much money is going right into the hands of the Cartels? With a legalized system that all stops!
We profit with jobs & revenue! It has to happen!

First work day with the new Gens :) Twice as much battery life again!
Batteries going away is like the mouse in the oven, its hard to notice your loosing so much performance cause it happens a little at a time.

Somehow, I just cant but into the "legalize" thing. Bottom line, for me, is that it is a mind altering substance and the effects of long term use are known. That's just me. Pot cookies, think of the children, oh the humanities!
Legality aside, how is it any different than alcohol?

The major difference is the legal status of each and the knowledge we have about them. I'm no fan of alcohol, either, at least not on a daily basis. Again, seeing the effects of long term, heavy use, it should be enough to convince anyone not to do those things. Just what I want to do, get on the highway and wonder if the guy flying up on my tail is high on booze or drugs. One is more than enough to worry about.

Laws have seldom stopped me from doings things I wanted to do.

What usually stops me, is my own personal code, which is one very simple question:
  • Will it cause "harm" to someone else?
If there is no victim, then I generally dont have a moral issue with it.
