Sitting down, facing forward.
I thin the "like" button will come back, Steamer. As with most things like coding a board like this, it takes some time to make changes, whether they're needed or not, an unanticipated things happen during that process.

And I'm still sick of "Broke Dick"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of "beefs", I just got a $31K tax bill from the IRS for co-ops I ran here back in 2015.

I dealt with this for 2014 already, so I am not nearly as intimidated as I was the 1st time. It still sucks I have to go through all of this though, anytime you have to deal with the IRS it is stressful. And yes, I blame being "forced" to use "Goods & Services" for this headache. Had we used "Friends & Family" as PayPal recommends for true co-ops, I wouldnt have to deal with this mess.

Yup good old paypal, but really it's the government putting the squeeze on company's they want customer data from. I'm sure they sent a couple hence men in suit's from the IRS to the ceo and told them; It's either play ball or will make your both your personal and business life miserable. Maybe we'll just shut you down and focus on your personal life, so what's it going to be?

They've done it with phone company's and had data handed over to them, they've done it with medical records, you can bet they've done it to the big banks, hell Suckerberg is willing in bed with them now, and everyone keeps asking me when I'm going to join facebook Ha ha ha ha ha...... NEVER! And if they can get em to play ball they'll just take it, what was the name of the company they hacked and stole the encryption keys from a while ago?

Did any of you watch that movie? A Good American | Netflix

You gotta hand it to him for picking a perfect user name.
Meh, I think his heart is in the right place. He did a lot to help put structure to the marketplace section of the forum and keep it from being a free-for-all. Mistakes were made along the way, we live, we learn. He, like the other admins, donated a lot of time. Do I take issue with some of the admin decisions, certainly, but you have to give them credit for trying. Being an Admin is often a thankless job, as you cant please everybody. In the case of the marketplace, the "objective" of protecting the users was a noble one, but it also had consequences.

As for him taking over that failed co-op, I dont envy him.

nobody forced him! the community donated 10k to make that co-op whole and he took charge of the funds - more than 4 years later people are still waiting :?:
It was a failed co-op, he took over a bad situation and tried, and I truly believe with good intentions. Alas, we all fail at something or another sooner or later. I dont know his RL situation, so I am hesitant to judge.

Believe me, I felt the weight of the risk of failure on many of the co-ops I ran. I was fortunate in that none of mine every did. But as they say "Snit Happens", and I felt that weight big time on a few of the co-ops.

So I noticed over the last week my security camera dvr had rebooted a couple times on it's own, figuring there must have been a problem I looked at the logs and it showed admin had logged in and out and it wasn't me.... So I changed the password and rebooted, within less then a minuet it showed admin logged in and out just before I did... So I pulled the cat cable from it for a few days, no rebooting, pulled it back in this morning and it keep rebooting every few minuets, pulled the cable again and no more rebooting. I don't know what to think.... Someone really logging in or is there a problem with the network causing it? I haven't made any changes to it for months, I only have my network enable in it, no internet access, if someone was getting access it'd have to be though my desktop or router, I don't know.... Cheap dvr from China that I got off amazon, useless customer support and the manual translation from Chinese to English makes it about worthless. Any way to connect the cat from my dvr right to my desktop and bypass the router?

There are a lot (millions) of cameras that had a backdoor built into the firmware of the cameras. The cameras were then used in Denial of Service attacks, etc. Google it, a Chinese firmware company, that supplied a lot of manufacturers was to blame.

The only way I am aware of would be to airgap your cameras from the internet.

Have one network, not connected to the internet, for your cameras. And another for home/internet usage. If you are good with routers you could create 2 VLANS to accomplish the same task.

SOB!! That login screen, that's mine..... Ugh... So it's likely a bot and not some guy living in his mom's basement that logging in, explains why the login in and out is within seconds of rebooting. Well I just won't connect it, it will have to be a stand alone dvr, not a problem, I have it on it's own monitor. It was just easier to record and review videos on my computer then on the dvr with their software. And it was nice to be able to pull up the camera's on my phome while at home but it won't kill me if I can't. Damn it.... :-x

I am a home automation freak, but I have never added cameras and doorlocks for this very reason.

If I were to ever do cameras, I would use professional stuff hardwired to a multiplexing DVR, which would be on an isolated network, with some fancy routing to only allow traffic from the DVR to go to a designated client, and block that source IP from leaving my network.

Yeah more time and expense then it's worth, you get what you pay for. Really for $50, it's worked great the last couple years until this started to happen, oh well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JVI069C

Yeah, if I could get wrench on it I can fix it, but that stuff is over my head Mike. It's served it purpose, the people who have the easement to use part of my driveway to get to their land and my other neighbor, the drunk, they know they have eyes on them. Just having camera's up is probably enough, I probably don't even need to have them hooked up LoL.

Me, I hate busting my knuckles, you can keep your wrenches....
I have a good set for when I have no choice, but I try not to use them.
