Sitting down, facing forward.
I got asked to leave Costco this afternoon. Oh the humanities. Seriously, the store got evacuated because somebody ruptured a gas line. They were pretty busy too, the checkout area was a mass of carts full of stuff as everybody "ran for the hills". The fire department was pulling up as I walked back to the Jeep. Getting out of the shopping center was a real "joy", but no harm done that I've heard about. I left my cart, with the stuff we needed, in the main aisle about halfway through the store. I overheard a couple of management types saying they had no idea, or guidance, on when the situation would be cleared. Guess I'll have to go back on Sunday.

We have enough to get through the middle of next week, but I like to be well ahead. He's a big puppy and eats a lot. His tummy seems to be pretty well recovered and we've already started adding kibble to his meals, again.

Awsum140 - Glad to hear your pup is getting better :)

Speaking of plumbing... (aren't we?)

I had a problem drain for my washing machine for the last couple of years. I had to move the drain hose to the utility sink because the pipe was either slow or clogged. I've tried everything from liquid plumber and vinegar/baking soda to snakes and nothing seemed to help at all. The last few months was getting worse, the sink wouldn't drain so I picked up a dirty water pump at Harbor Freight and pumped the water to a clear sink with a 1/2" tube. That was getting old fast. Then I found the Drain King during some research.

Amazon had the size I needed (1.5-3") for $10 shipped and got it in 2 days. I was a bit worried as the pipe was PVC and didn't want it to explode, causing more problems. I ran it about 5' into the washing machine drain and I let it run for 30 sec the first time and it cleared it enough to drain the water in the sink (they're connected). It wasn't completely cleared so I let it run the recommended 2mins and it's so much better. I still poured some baking soda and vinegar in there to clear up the pipes a bit more overnight but I'm impressed.

'moanin, Tibs. I've been up for an hour and a half and just had time to look in here.

KTM, don't worry too much about exploding PVC plumbing pipe. Schedule 40, the common type used for drain/waste/vent, will handle about 450PSI IF the joints are properly glued, if memory serves me right. I've always used a snake when things get bad. A little messy, at times, but always seems to do the job. The problem with washer drains is the slow build up of soap scum and lint from the waste water.

It was bad and I used 2 different snakes and neither worked. I even went into the basement and opened the pipe from the access point down there. I would NOT recommend it if you ever want to smell pretty again.

Yeah, it sure can get messy and the "ambience" is wonderful. I've got to do that to a tub drain, just to make sure it's clean, but I keep putting it off. The cleanout is in the basement, right next to the elliptical trainer. I'm saving that for a rainy or snowy day (at least that's the current story).

You want to have good ventilation when opening some pipes, sewer gas in nothing to play with. When I was a kid our septic tank backed up, Dad had guys come in to clean it out, when they got the hole dug and pulled the cover it was full to the top. It took multiple trips from the honey wagon to empty it, when done one of the workers went down inside to inspect the tank, the tank having been full to the top was dripping from the ceiling of the tank, when that guy came out everyone backed away from him..... Not a job I could do, hope they got paid well...

I worked in a Honda dealership that was right across the road from the city sewer waste treatment center, the smell was always bad, on hot summer days real bad but after a month you do get use to it. Made the best money I ever made there, it was new dealership, they sold and serviced a ton of cars and the owners made a lot of money. They paid all the workers very well, plenty of great perks and they gave back to the community, once the word got out how well the workers got paid everyone was trying to get a job there.
