Alexander may be on to something, Willie. I used to get that pixilated vision thing too, usually on the way to work after eating a bagel. Then I found out it was related to my glucose level, as in spiking way too high. Glucose meters are cheap, unfortunately the test strips aren't but you can get them cheaper at Wally World. Might be worth checking, just to be safe.

No, never have, why do you ask? Is that something the doctor should have checked? Please don't tell me yes.....
An ex co-worker that had hard to control glucose levels described some of your symptoms similarly. Not in any way saying that's your problem but it did ring a bell when I read your post.

Willie, it needs to be checked more often than once in a while at the health center. If you can get them to do an "A1C" that is a much better indicator of long term glucose levels than a simple, quick, glucose test. The simple test works if you do it at regular interval, like when you get up, two hours after eating, just before you eat and before going to bed. Heck, there are "wearable" meters, now, that test every five minutes to get a really accurate profile.

I'll have to get a meter once I get feeling better, just want to get it checked today while I sit here worried and waiting for the test results to come back. Maybe I can find a decent one on Amazon, with the Prime I'd have it by Monday or Tues, which is probably sooner then I'll feel like shopping, and likely at a better price.

I haven't been feeling all that bad since the spell last evening. Was up most of the night, caught a few hours sleep this morning, that seems to be the new norm for me the last 6-7 months, trying to get back to more normal hours for the summer, during the winter it doesn't matter much to me. But I do find it is nice to sit out in the yard at 2-3 AM, enjoy the warm weather, stars, quiet and a good vape. :)

On another off topic note.... Gotta give a kudo's to a company for going above and beyound, this won't be for everyone here, maybe a few. STRIKE INDUSTRIES <--- Great company, they make great stuff and they have top notch customer service and they hold fair and reasonable prices.

The son in law asked me my thoughts on helping him build an AR15 from a bare receiver, I saw it as a way that maybe we could bond a little more, understand each other a little better and maybe have some fun when done so I've been helping him pick out parts with his build project.

I've bought some stuff from strike a few years ago, was very impressed with everything I got and their reasonable prices. Looking for a 60 deg short throw safety for him I found they had one on their blem website cheap, when I placed the order the paypal payment went through but then the website came back as error. I gave it a couple days expecting to see a order confirmation email but nothing so I gave them a call yesterday, seems they are having problems with the website with the blem listings, the last blem safety had already sold and the system should have not let the sale go through, they said they refunded my money. I told them no big deal, thanked them and asked if they would have just one of the left side levers for those short throw setups, told them I was in no rush, they could check into it and email me rather then call. Last night I got an email from them asking my shipping address, I replied and told them if they came up with something to let me know what I owed them. Got a reply this morning they are sending a new complete safety setup no charge, their way of apologizing for the website goof, wow. --> Flip Switch In a world of companies that care nothing about the customer before or after the sale, just taking your money, it's refreshing to see one actually go out of their way to help, then above and beyond to make you happy. Very cool, I told them they just earned a customer for life. :thumb:

BTW, I love these 1911 grip screws, gold plated for $12, and they are finely made like a high quality watch part, all their stuff is made that way. 1911 Torx Grip Screws with TRUE 24K GOLD COATING - PISTOL - Products They also have them in blued, chrome and stainless, I have a set of each except the chrome.

Willy if you have Medicare you should be able to get a meter and test strips free

I do have medicare but not by choice.... I can afford to pay for my own meter and leave the money in the kitty for those that really need care more then I do. But I really do appreciate the heads up mackman, Thank You Sir! :)

OK guys, need some advice, I have no idea what to look for. Does this meter, kit look good enough or do I need something better? Looks to be a decent price, I think?? Amazon.com: Easy Touch Diabetes Testing Kit, 100 Count | Easy Touch Meter, 100 Easy Touch Blood Glucose Test Strips, 100 Lancets, Easy Touch Lancing Device, Owner's Manual, Log Book & Carry Case: Health & Personal Care
Being a type II diabetic since 2003 and taking insulin since 2007, just about all glucose meters are pretty much the same. What makes them different mainly is the price of the test strips. Some only cost like 50¢ each, but it goes up from there.

Do you know if you are a diabetic yet? I may have missed a post or two but I thought that was yet to be confirmed?

When I was young, some kids were going to farms and stealing gasoline from the large reserve tanks. One farmer go so tired of it, he filled his tank about a quarter of the way full with a mixture of one-fourth kerosene and three fourths gasoline. The following day the whole town knew who was stealing the gas as he left a cloud of smoke while he belched and backfired his way through town. The thefts ended.

Yup, one of my neighbors was having his gas stolen too. I too live on a farm. I don't recall a time when anybody was stealing anything from my tanks, but one of my neighbors had a thief problem once. He fixed it by switching the two tanks around. One had gasoline and the other had diesel.

I have another A1C coming up in a month. Hopefully cutting out sweets has brought it down so I don't have to start meds

I found refined white flour products were actually worse than sugar on my glucose levels. Everyone is different, but something to watch.
