Sitting down, facing forward.
I flat out don't want FB having any of my data, photos, history or even knowing I exist. A sewer is a sewer and I happily choose not to participate in swimming with the (I'll be nice here) effluent. It boggles my mind that people so willingly join things like that when their business model is based on selling every little scrap of information people are dumb enough to give them, and they give away the store, the ranch and the full Monty with absolutely no clue what they're actually doing.

Based on the was a couple of "esteemed" Senators want to regulate social media, and the internet, we're on the way to a cross between the world in "Demolition Man" and the opera house scene in "The Fifth Element".

Yeah, FB is the ONLY way we can communicate with the world quickly. Right, sure. While you're busy messaging, they're busy tracking those messages, and probably recording them as well. Along with that, their "little fingers" are creeping around in your browser, PC or phone, checking everything else you do and reporting that back to HQ so they can sell that data.

As soon as you sign up, they grab all your contact lists "for your convenience". Believe that and I have a bridge, complete with a toll plaza for income, that you can buy.

My wife and I throw those two movies in the player every couple of years, good stuff.

not much they can get from ''night, night'' and ''good morning'' ;) and i have no illusions that our data is not available in this day and age. if somebody wants to pay for it they have my blessings. i don't see where it does them any good. targeted ads have never worked with me - i know what i need or want and i do my homework before i buy.

An iphone is worse, look at all the info that uploads to the cloud by default, combine using both and your signing over most of your privacy. I looked at what FB was about and declined, my life hasn't been any less richer, I got along fine before it came along.

The old hand me down android phone (4.4.2 kitkat) my wife had when she got her first iphone became mine, when she updated to another new iphone last Dec I played with her old iphone thinking I might use it but once I dug into the privacy settings I decided it wasn't for me, I stuffed it in a drawer. Strange thing, that android phone has always been a battery drainer up until a month ago, suddenly the battery started lasting two weeks where as before it last three days at the best and I haven't changed a thing on it. The funny part is, it was also exactly a month ago when I dug out that old iphone and started using it as an mp3 player, they both sit on my desk, do you believe in coincidences?

No coincidence at all Willy. I have a misbehaving Golf Driver and putter. When either starts acting up, I just pull out whatever's currently benched and they'll smarten up

Okay I stayed away from all Apple products since the beginning. But last year I got tired of DJI GO would crash at the worst time when flying your quadcopter. Flying blindly isn't much fun and I figured my luck would eventually run out. And someone who runs DJI GO on both Android and the iPhone said yeah it is buggy on the Androids, but rock solid on the iPhone.

So last year I finally got my first Apple product, an iPhone. Mainly to use with the DJI GO App. And it actually works. But even after using it for a year, I still don't like it much for anything else. And trying to run MP3s is a trick and a half on an iPhone. I never figured out how to do it without an third party App like Send Anywhere. So how is it done? As connecting a PC to an iPhone, I can see photos and that is it. You throw MP3s in there and the iPhone won't do anything with them.

You are using Itunes for input of the music...right? I use to dislike Apple but now love their phones. No so much interested in their over priced out dated (even when new) computers though.

No, I refuse to use iTunes. Used it once when it first came out on a PC and it kept the CPU pegged and it got uninstalled right away. I have my own MP3 files, why would I want to pay for them again through iTunes?

I use a preinstalled music app, below is the icon on the phone for it, works pretty well. There are some free apps I looked at but the preinstalled app works for me. The sound quality with ear buds using the android I have sucks, nice and clear with the iphone, plus the iphone is smaller and lighter, I can slip it in my t-shirt pocket without having it be to heavy and sag. I had to create an account to use the iphone even though it's not activated, I then went in the privacy settings and disallowed all permissions for each app to connect with the cloud and any to use the voice activation, I have tape over the camera's and the microphone, I only turn the wifi on if I really need it which is rarely, I use itunes to download, install apps and copy my music files to it.

You don't have to pay to put in your mp3's, but yhey need to be added to iTune's library to do it. Maybe give iTunes another try, you can always uninstall it again. I have no problems with it.
So then how do you back up your iphone?

Yeah, "I" don't know of a way to copy any files to the iphone without using itunes, as you say, itunes is free. Not wanting it on my desktop I first installed itunes on my little notebook when the movie A Billion Lives was available through itunes, left it on the notebook so i could go back and watch the movie again, it has a mini HDMI port so I can connect it to the TV or monitor with a cable, works great. I also used itunes to back up the wife's phone, just in case she has a problem some day.

Then I have to have iTunes on all of my Windows and Androids too. No way! Send Anywhere works the same way, you need it on everything. But I trust them much more than I trust Apple. How do I backup my iPhone? Well I don't. If it craps out, I just toss it in the trash.

It's nice to be able to quickly put everything back into the new phone.

I use to buy unlocked phones at the Apple store, getting the latest and greatest along with a nose bleed.
Now I get "over stocked" new but older ones here: (although I'm using their Ebay store)

Yeah that is the same prices I buy mine for. I bought a few from Consumer Cellular too like the iPhone SE for $160. And I don't pick the monthly payment plan and just buy phones from them outright. And when you pay them off, they will unlock the phones. Although last year they changed it to 6 months after you paid for your phone. I guess they had too many buying their cheaper unlocked phones and then leaving.
