My order from zbbmods I made on the 30th of October is finally out for delivery today. Geez... 16 days to go 300 miles. I am sure the Mule Express service was a tons faster than that. And even Canada Post could do better on strike.

Yeah right. Bill, we're into dogsled and snowshoe season. Oh yeah, rotating strikes as well. I ordered my soldering iron 2 weeks ago from 250 miles away in Canada, and some flux from USA on Tuesday. Both from Amazon.

Flux arrived today. Still waiting on the iron.

    Sitting down, facing forward.
I just spent two and a half "lovely" hours making a 40 minute drive. The snow was very heavy and very wet so any surface that wasn't pre-treated, like a major highway, turned into an ice rink. Lots of cars spinning out, most of them with low ground clearance which reduces traction as the slush build underneath or when they hit a line of slush between lanes. There are two, modest, hills on Route 206 in Bordentown which hadn't been treated. Tractor trailers were stuck, spinning drive wheels, and a few cars had to be pushed up the hills even with front wheel drive. Thankfully those hills are three and two lane highways so traffic was able to thread around the stuck stuff. As soon as I left the doctor's office, I put the old Jeepster in 4x4 and had no problem at all other than the white knuckle drivers out there.

Well in my zbbmods package was 2 Hana One mods and I guess nobody likes them here. SquareTrade will warranty them for 3 years for $1.99. PIA getting the 18650s in and out, but the USB charging works fine.

Man are these these tiny and light. Imagine 2 Orions side by side and that is about the size. But they are shorter and not quite as wide as 2 Orions. I thought no way is a 18650 is going to fit into this thing, but it really does. And are they light, really light.

Threw on a Crown 1 tank with Ni200 coils that I vape on a lot. Set it for 19 watts at 420F and vaped. Oh not bad. Slow ramp up and a bit cool. So I set it at 450F at 25 watts and tried again. Wow! Just perfect. Vaped it for a few hours and it was really smooth and solid. Call me very impressed. :)

Decided to try the other Hana One. It also vapes exactly the same. For $14.95, I really like them. They are very light and small and perfect for on the go. Not bad for the home either. It is so weird seeing that temp protect error flash 3 times once again.

Snowing pretty good here now, they still are predicting the 7-8 inches by morning.

When I was doing the auto damage appraisals for insurance companies I was amazed at the amount of vehicles I looked at in the winter that had really crappy tires on them. At least a good 25% of them had tires worn bad enough I wouldn't have dreamed driving in the snow. The thing is, a cheap pair of tires don't cost any more then a tow to a body shop, and that's hoping all you do is damage to the vehicle and not to yourself or others, it doesn't make sense to me.

One of the winter entertainments here in the village is watching the cars struggle to make it up the incline out front, I watch them on my security camera's from my easy chair in my toasty office. Last winter the wife and I watched a two wheel drive pickup, he was half sideways, rear tires spinning, engine revving as he slowly was gaining ground, then an Amish horse and buggy came along and went right out around him LoL.

Could not agree More! I put on the Blizzaks for the winter! A lot of folks say, oh I have a full size four wheel drive truck, I don't need snow tires! Till your upside down on your roof from a patch of Black Ice!
Freakin winter is here early :( We got a bit of snow last week & it's bitterly cold all ready! Too Soon :( Winter Sucks!!

I agree, I'm a firm believer in four snows for the winter, all seasons are OK but four snows is like day and night. I use to run four studded snows but the winters aren't as bad as they use to be and I don't go out in bad weather anymore because I don't have to.

We use to laugh at the 4 wheeler's upside down in the ditches along the highway, usually right after a bridge or a bend in the road. We called them dead cockroaches because that's what they looked like with the tires pointing toward the sky. You can get going like hell with a 4WD but you can stop any faster and you can't drive on ice or take turns like it's just wet payment. Biggest issue, besides tires, people just won't slow down.

Don't get me started on the head lights! :-x
Some of these newer cars with these really bright head lights should be illegal!!
IDK how they could get away with these super bright lights?

You can use studs there? They were banned in the midwest since the late 60's. There are rules about using chains, but I don't know what they are.
We can now :) But you don't really need them, the sounds makes me sick!
The best snow tires are soft rubber & have sypes, they act like tiny suction cups :)
Great of ice & in snow :)

How long were they banned and when did you were allowed to use them again?

Sypes? Is that were they make small cuts into the threads?

Ever use chains? PIA to put on and you don't want to use them long if you no longer don't need them. But when you need them, they really work great. ;)

I like winter (ducks and runs).:D

I cut my firewood for next year during this time of year. No ticks, chiggers, snakes or pouring sweat. Mornings are typically slightly below freezing so body temp is easy to regulate by unzipping here and there (not there, get your mind out of the gutter). The 4wd tractor pulls around the wood wagon good on frozen ground without rutting the place up and my hotrodded saws love freezing weather. Add in some light snow flurries and I'm in paradise.:thumb:

I'm still spitting 5 cords of firewood per year by hand at age 56, I wonder how much longer before I'll need to buy a hydraulic splitter. My neighbor split by hand until age 70, he's 83 now and still cuts firewood. I envy that kind of health endurance.:) Good ol' country livin' I guess.;)
